In this study, the accuracy and efficiency of a composite rotor blade cross-section analysis program, Ksec2d-AE, which is available at an educational web-based platform called EDISON-CSD, are assessed for possible use in undergraduate structural analysis projects. To this purpose, the convergence of cross-sectional constants by varying the number of finite elements in the cross-section of a wind turbine blade is investigated. The stiffness constants along with the cross-sectional engineering offsets obtained using Ksec2d-AE are validated against a 3D finite element analysis program MSC NASTRAN.
H-Anim is an international standard that Humanoid Animation Working Group in Web3D Consortium defined the data structure necessary for human animation. Various libraries and tools have been generated according to the structure, but they still have restrictions to represent realistic humanoid motions. This paper presents the method of generating realistic human motion using motion capture data in order to define motion for humanoid animation based on H-Anim standard. In order to implement this, we have defined a data structure capable of receiving motion capture data and implemented a motion browser. The human motion data structure defined in this paper is based on X3D and intended to have compatibility through networks and various browsers.
Recent rapid development of computer, information communication and Web service technologies is exerting considerable effects on all industrial areas. As such digital technologies are also introduced to the clothing and fashion industry and create 'virtual garment environment' consisting of 3D virtual bodies, virtual garments and virtual try-on systems, consumers are now able to try virtual garments on their virtual body online. This study was conducted in order to analyze consumers' tendency of clothing purchase using 3D virtual simulation technology, which is increasing attention throughout the world, and to propose strategies on the development of virtual try-on technology for activating apparel online shopping. The subjects of this study were men and women aged 18 or older living in the North Carolina State, U.S., and a questionnaire survey was conducted with them on their tendency of apparel online shopping and their preference for real garments and virtual garments. According to the results of this study, consumers' awareness of apparel shopping using virtual try-on was still low. Moreover, in the results of surveying consumers' purchase preference for real garments and virtual garments, preference was highest for real garment (P), which was followed by virtual garments OA, OB and BB. Based on the results of this study, for the activation of apparel online shopping using virtual simulation technology, it is considered necessary to provide services implementing virtual try-on similar to consumers' actual try-on. This requires further active research and technology development on virtual try-on simulation using digital technologies.

Information collected from temperature, humidity, inclination, and pressure sensors using Raspberry Pi or Arduino is used in automatic constant temperature and constant humidity systems. In addition, by using it in the agricultural and livestock industry to remotely control the system with only a smartphone, workers in the agricultural and livestock industry can use it conveniently. In general, temperature and humidity are expressed in a line graph, etc., and the change is monitored in real time. The technology to visually express the temperature has recently been used intuitively by using an infrared device to test the fever of Corona 19. In this paper, the information collected from the Raspberry Pi and the DHT11 sensor is used to predict the temperature change in space through intuitive visualization and to make a immediate response. To this end, an algorithm was created to effectively visualize temperature and humidity, and data representation is possible even if some sensors are defective.
Nowadays, fewer Japanese university students are taking PhD degrees in the U.S.A than Koreans or Taiwanese. The language barrier is considered as one of major reasons for this. This lack of international education is one of the reasons cited, as Japan has been falling behind in industrial globalization. Reading aloud is a good practice for learning a foreign language, since many areas of our brains are simultaneously activated. Furthermore, students have a chance to overcome the psychological barrier in reading aloud in front of others, in a meeting. The authors start the voluntary meeting (which is unrelated to official classes of the curriculum) by reading English articles aloud. Topics in the meeting are selected from articles on web sites, therefore, (1) textbooks were not needed, (2) voice data could be listened to, and (3) the meaning and the pronunciation of an unknown word could be checked by web tools. Once the methodology has been mastered, volunteer students can manage the meeting. The authors introduce our experiments conducted at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ehime University.

In the present, most lighting simulation programs are based on luminaires data produced at overseas. Currently, it is difficult to use proper domestic luminaire database in most lighting simulation programs, because there are only oversea luminaire database available. Therefore, in this study, domestic luminaire database were developed and categorized, and applied to Internet Web-based RADIANCE rendering system. Luminaire database are constructed with 3D modeling, materials, and IES candlepower distribution data of each luminaire.
To investigate the influence of cross section geometries on the behavior of composite beams in the case of small span to depth ratio and deep beams. the static flexural behavior of composite I-beams and Box- beams was evaluated. 12 types of composite I -beams composed of LVL flanges and particleboard or plywood web and 3 types of composite Box-beams composed of LVL flanges and plywood web were tested under one-point loading. The load-deflection curves were almost linear to failure, therefore, the behavior of tested composite beams was elastic. The theoretical flexural rigidity of composite beams was calculated and compared with observed flexural rigidity. The highest value was found in I-W type beams and the lowest value was found in G-P type beams. The difference between theoretical and observed flexural rigidity was small. Theoretical total deflection of tested composite beams was calculated using flexural rigidity and compared with actual deflection. Shear deflection of these beams was evaluated by the approximation method, solid crosss section method and elementary method. The difference between actual deflection and expected deflection was not found in D, E and F type beams. This defference was small in G, H and I type beams or Box-beam.
The paper begins by presenting a unified variational approach to the lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) analysis of doubly symmetric prismatic and tapered thin-walled beams with open cross-sections, which accounts for the influence of the pre-buckling deflections. This approach (i) extends the kinematical assumptions usually adopted for prismatic beams, (ii) consistently uses shell membrane theory in general coordinates and (iii) adopts Trefftz's criterion to perform the bifurcation analysis. The proposed formulation is then applied to investigate the influence of the pre-buckling deflections on the LTB behaviour of prismatic and web-tapered I-section simply supported beams and cantilevers. After establishing an interesting analytical result, valid for prismatic members with shear centre loading, several elastic critical moments/loads are presented, discussed and, when possible, also compared with values reported in the literature. These numerical results, which are obtained by means of the Rayleigh-Ritz method, (i) highlight the qualitative differences existing between the LTB behaviours of simply supported beams and cantilevers and (ii) illustrate how the influence of the pre-buckling deflections on LTB is affected by a number of factors, namely ($ii_1$) the minor-to-major inertia ratio, ($ii_2$) the beam length, ($ii_3$) the location of the load point of application and ($ii_4$) the bending moment diagram shape.
