  • The present study introduces some useful methods of implementing the Internet numerical analysis program with existing numerical codes for utilizing the Internet environment. The Internet gives developers good environment for development and release. Several methods were suggested, and some of them were implemented with an existing numerical code named SOLA-VOF, a computational fluid dynamics program to solve two-dimensional transient flow problems with free surface. This was reconstructed with Java technologies and compared with the original one. Java technologies have been applied to development of Internet applications for a long time. The objective of this work is to contrive methods of implementing Internet numerical analysis program with existing numerical codes and confirm the possibility of them. Methods using the applet-servlet communication were suggested and implemented. In addition, the Java web services with XML was introduced, which makes possible the cooperation of components. Although the concept has been suggested and developed for business applications, it can also be used for engineering softwares. Therefore, this study will be a preparation for numerical analysis to participate in engineering web services.

  • Web technologies are gaining increased importance in automation and control systems. However, the choice of Web technologies depends on the use cases in the application environment. In industrial systems, the data can be got not only from many different field systems and devices but also from different OPC (OLE for Process Control) Servers. Current OPC Client might be able to read simple data from OPC Server, but there are some problems to get structured data and to exchange structured information between collaborating applications. Therefore, OPC Foundation has defined interfaces to OPC XML-DA (OPC XML Data Access) and OPC Complex Data that aim to solve those problems. The OPC XML-DA can facilitate the exchange of plant data across the internet, and upwards into the enterprise domain. In addition, the OPC Complex Data will extend the OPC DA specification to allow the OPC Client to read and decode any type of data from measurement and control systems on the plant floor. This paper will describe the concept of OPC XML-DA and OPC Complex Data. And then it proposes a mechanism to implement the OPC Complex Data into OPC XML-DA Server. Additionally, the paper also discusses the security aspects.

  • In recent years, the Grid development focus is transitioning from resources to services, A Grid Service is defined as a Web Service that provides a set of well-defined interfaces and follows specific conventions. SAML as a standard for Web Services which enables exchange of authentication, authorization, and profile information between different entities provides interoperability among different security services in distributed environments. In this paper, we implemented SAML API. By offering interoperability for non XML-based authentication technologies using SAML specification offering a method to integrate the existing Single Sign-On technologies, the API provides convenience for accessing different services in Grid architecture.

  • It is more important to ensure the credibility of internet media which influence the public opinion. However, there are vague suspicions in public from the examples of manipulation of online reviews with anonymity. In this study, we explore the possibility of manipulating public opinion in online web sites. We investigate the characteristics of comments posted by users on web sites and compare each comments by using the cosine similarity function. Our result shows followings. First, we found a correlation between the similarities of comments and the article ranks in the web sites. Second, it is possible to identify abnormal user activities indicating excessive multiple posting, double posting and astroturf activities.

  • As complex mathematical models are increasingly adopted for business decision-making, difficulties arise in reusing solvers (i.e., model solving algorithms) against diverse models and data sets and thus the collaboration among users (model/solver builders and decision makers) in multiple departments becomes very difficult. To facilitate the solver reuse, this paper adopts the Web services technologies as the base technologies for linking the solvers to the models, both of which are created on different modeling paradigms and different system platforms, in unified system architecture. Specifically, this paper focuses on designing an ontology that represents the interfacing semantics of the model-solver interactions in a general and standardized form. By referring to the ontology, a model management system (MMS) can autonomously suggest a set of compatible solvers and apply them to individual models even though the decision makers are not knowledgeable enough about all the details of the models and the solvers. Thus, this Web services based MMS would improve the reusability of the solvers by relieving the decision makers from the risk of erroneous application of a solver to syntactically and semantically incompatible models and the burden of considerable understanding of model and solver semantics.

  • Over recent decades, concept mapping has been used as a valuable Learning and Teaching tool. A number of studies have shown a positive impact on student learning. One of the disadvantages of this technique has been that assessing them or providing feedback to students is time consuming. We aim here to introduce ways of reducing the complexity of using concept map techniques in online activities. Several types of scoring methods for the concept map based assessment have been developed. In this paper, we describe the development of an automatic assessment system that implements those techniques. We contribute a design that uses semantic web technologies for both the management and the scoring of the concept maps.

  • Recently, construction of infrastructure for mobile internet has been progressed very rapidly including various mobile terminals. Therefore, many service models on mobile internet have been appeared and the methods to reuse the existing huge wired web contents have been studied with many-sided ways. In this paper we classify the related technologies published up to now and make a comparison among their strengths and weaknesses, For this purpose, Technologies are classified according to authoring time, authoring place, and processing level of contents. The automatic contents re-authoring technology is examined in particular and we propose a new contents re-authoring method in which the function of compressing selected information is added in order to complement the existing contents re-authoring methods.

  • The production and procurement of shipbuilding and offshore equipment is an important competitive factor in the shipbuilding and offshore industry. Recently, ICT-based digital technology has been rapidly applied to the manufacturing industry following the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Under the digital transformation, real-time data interface technology based on SCM (Supply Chain Management) is emerging as an important tool to improve the efficiency of the equipment manufacturing process. In this study, the characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of interface technologies of web-based data interface technologies were compared and analyzed. The performance was compared between theoretical evaluation based on technical features and practical application cases. As a result, it was confirmed that GraphQL is useful for selective data processing, but there is a problem with optimization, and REST API has a problem with receiving data due to a fixed data structure. Therefore, this study aims to suggest ways to utilize and optimize these data interface technologies.

  • Today, according to tremendous development of B2B e-commerce, B2B e-marketplaces which accomplish various types of transactions through a number of buyers and sellers on online are embossed importantly. However, buyers are unable to search correct products because of inconsistency of product information between buyers and sellers. This paper solved this problem as semantic web technology. Semantic Web is an extension of current Web in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. The Semantic Web aims at machine-processable information. Its underlying technologies are RDF, RDF Schema, and ontology as the shared formal conceptualization of particular domains. In this paper, we present an implementation of Semantic Web enabled search system for B2B E-Marketplace domains. The system exploits OWL as the standard ontology language proposed by W3C and the Jena which is a Semantic Web toolkit, namely a Java framework writing Semantic Web applications. Finally, we summarize our experiences and discuss future research topics.

  • Semantic web portal is expected to overcome the shortcomings of the current web portals through advanced semantic web technologies and to be an effective and efficient method of knowledge sharing. In order to contribute to the knowledge sharing, semantic web portal needs to construct and integrate ontologies of each organization. Also, it needs to support search and navigation of inter-related knowledge. In this paper, we will design a semantic web portal that satisfies such requirements in the domain of display industry, and construct an ontology which links various knowledge of different fields. Moreover, we want to suggest an effective and automatic search/navigation method that supports customers who do not know the details of an ontology to easily get the desired results.
