  • In recent years, the web services composition has received much attention. By web services composition, we mean providing a new service that does not exist on the repository. In this paper, we propose a new system called PSR for web services composition search using a relational database. We also propose algorithms for pre-computing web services composition using joins and indices. We store ontologies from web services in RDBMS, so that the PSR system returns web services composition in order of similarity with user query through the degree of the ontology matching. We demonstrated that our pre-computing web services composition approach in RDBMS yields lower execution time and good scalability when handling a large number of web services and user queries.

  • In recent years, the web services composition search has become an issue of great interest. The web services composition search is the process of integrating individual web services to yield desired behavior. Through the web services composition search, more sophisticated functionalities can be provided. Current solutions can be classified into three main classes: forward chaining approach, backward chaining approach and two-phase approach. However one-way chaining approaches, such as forward chaining approach and backward chaining approach have limitations of searching irrelevant web services. And two-phase approach has limitations of including redundant web services. In this paper, we propose an unredundant web services composition search based on the two-phase algorithm. The algorithm consists of a forward phase and a backward phase. In the forward phase, the candidate web services participating composition will be found efficiently by searching the Link Index. In the backward phase, unredundant web services compositions will be generated from candidate web services by using the Token Manager. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm is more efficient than one-way chaining approaches. The experimental results also show that our algorithm can provide more solutions than previous two-phase approach and is comparable to previous one in execution time.

  • Web services are the current most promising technology for service oriented architecture(SOA) implementations. However, in spite of the large scale acceptance of web services, they have been relegated to internal integration projects, and the grand vision of virtual enterprises where partners can be integrated on demand is yet to be realized. The main reason is that the current standards of web services are not very suitable for the dynamic web service discovery and integration. In this paper, we present a novel SemanticBPEL solution that merges the benefit of WS-BPEL, with the advantage of OWL-S for building a semi-automatic web service composition system. In particular, this work proposes a multi-phase search method for solving dynamic discovery and integration problems of web services. The proposed method is compared with the existing keyword based retrieval method. These comparisons show that our approach outperforms the existing method.

  • To fulfill the complex user requirement, composition web service comprised of existing services is considered from the efficient and reusable point of view instead of making entirely new web service. However, with the growing the number of web services which provide the same functionality but differ in quality value, the service composition becomes a decision problem on which component services should be selected such that end-to-end QoS constraints by the client and overall QoS of the composition service are satisfied. QoS of service aspects is a determinant factor for selecting the services, since the performance of the composed service is determined by the performance of the involved component web service. In this paper, hybrid genetic algorithm is presented to select component services to take part in the QoS-aware composition. The local search method is used to be combined with the genetic algorithm to improve the individuals (component service) in population as well as composed service. The paper also presents a set of experiments conducted to evaluate the efficiency of selection algorithm using the real web service data.

  • In this paper, we implement an automated composition system of web services using hybrid techniques that merge the benefit of BPEL techniques, with the advantage of OWL-S, BPEL techniques have practical capabilities that fulfil the needs of the business environment such as fault handling and transaction management. However, the main shortcoming of these techniques is the static composition approach, where the service selection and flow management are done a priori and manually. In contrast, OWL-S techniques use ontologies to provide a mechanism to describe the web services functionality in machine-understandable form, making it possible to discover, and integrate web services automatically. This allows for the dynamic integration of compatible web services, possibly discovered at run time, into the composition schema. However, the development of these approaches is still in its infancy and has been largely detached from the BPEL composition effort. In this work, we describe the design of the SemanticBPEL architecture that is a hybrid system of BPEL4WS and OWL-S, and propose algorithms for web service search and integration. In particular, the SemanticBPEL has been implemented based on the open source tools. The proposed system is compared with existing BPEL systems by functional analysis. These comparisions show that our system outperforms existing systems.

  • Recently, many studies on automated generation of composite Web services have been done. Most of these works compose Web services by chaining their inputs and outputs, but do not consider the functional semantics. Therefore, they may construct unsatisfied composite services against users' intention. Futhermore, they have high time-complexity since every possible combinations of available services should be considered. To resolve these problems, this paper proposes a sophisticated composition method that explicitly specifies and uses the functional semantics of Web services. Specifically, A graph model is constructed to represent the functional semantics of Web services as well as the dependency among inputs and outputs. On the graph, we search core services which provide the requested function ality and additional services which transform between I/O types of the user request and the core services. Then, composite services are built from combinations of the discovered services. The proposed method improves the semantic correctness of composite services by the functional semantics of Web services, and reduces the time complexity by combinations of functionally related services.

  • The field of the web service orchestration introduced to generate a valuable service by reusing single services. Recently, it suggests rule-based searching and composition by the AI (Artificial Intelligence) instead of simple searching or orchestration based on the IOPE(Input, Output, Precondition, Effect) to implement the Semantic web as the web service of the next generation. It introduce a AOP programming paradigm from existing object-oriented programming paradigm for more efficient modularization of software. In this paper, we design a dynamic web service orchestration and invocation scheme applying Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) and Reflection for Semantic web. The proposed scheme makes use of the Reflection technique to gather dynamically meta data and generates byte code by AOP to compose dynamically web services. As well as, our scheme shows how to execute composed web services through dynamic proxy objects generated by the Reflection. For performance evaluation of the proposed scheme, we experiment on search performance of composed web services with respect to business logic layer and user view layer.

  • Semantic service can be defined as the service providing search API or reasoning API based on ontology and Web Services. It performs a pre-defined task by exploiting URI, classes, and properties. This study introduces a semantic service composition method based on a semantic broker referring ontology and management information of semantic services stored in a semantic service manager with requirements of the user. The requirements consist of input instances, an output class, a visualization type, semantic service names, and property names. This composition method provides dynamically generated semantic service pipelines including composit semantic services. The user can execute the pipelines provided by the semantic broker to find a meaningful semantic pipeline. After all, this study contributes to develop a system supporting human service planners who want to find composit semantic services among distributed semantic services.

  • The technology of Semantic Web realizes the base technology for context-awareness that creates new services by dynamically and flexibly combining various resources (people, concepts, etc). According to the realization of ubiquitous computing technology, many researchers are currently working for the embodiment of web service. However, most studies of them bring about the only predefined results those are limited to the initial description by service designer. In this paper, we propose a new service supporting model to provide an automatic method for plan related tasks which achieve goal state from initial state. The inputs on an planner are intial and goal descriptions which are mapped to the current situation and to the user request respectively. The idea of the method is to infer context from world model by DL-based ontology reasoning using OWL domain ontology. The context guide services to be loaded into planner. Then, the planner searches and plans at least one service to satisfy the goal state from initial state. This is STRIPS-style backward planner, and combine OWL-S services based on AI planning theory that enabling reduced search scope of huge web-service space. Also, when feasible service do not find using pattern matching, we give user alternative services through DL-based semantic searching. The experimental result demonstrates a new possibility for realizing dynamic service modeler, compared to OWLS-XPlan, which has been known as an effective application for service composition.
