  • In the Web, the data is generally gathered automatically by Web servers and collected in server or access logs. However, as users access larger and larger amounts of data, query response times to extract information inevitably get slower. A method to resolve this issue is the use of summary tables. In this short note, we design a prototype of summary tables that can efficiently extract information from Web log data. We also present the relative performance of the summary tables against a sampling technique and a method that uses raw data.

  • With the advent of the Web 2.0 technology, its versatility has been experienced through various web sites. Consequently, many library users request to implement this technology into the library information system. Here this paper try to increase our understanding of the concept and technology of the Web 2.0, Library 2.0. and Catalog 2.0(OPAC 2.0) through literature survey. Also, this paper try to figure out the most applicable technology to the library information system by analyzing the representative web sites and libraries equipped with Web 2.0 technology. Finally, based on the analysis results, this study suggests an applicable practical plans in the field of catalog, retrieval and auxiliary services toward the user-friendly library information system. We also indicate several side effects expected with the implementation of the suggested plans.

  • The Semantic Web is leading us to a world of information sharing by enabling distributed knowledge aggregation and creation. RDF is the foundations of the Semantic Web. For secure Semantic web we need to secure RDF as well. Unauthorized access to an RDF document can change or damage its semantics or manipulate the relations between resources. This article includes the study of RDF security issues and analysis of the existing solutions. After finding limitations of existing solution, a hybrid approach has been proposed.

  • The explosively growing attractiveness of the Web is commencing significant demands for a structuring analysis on various web objects. The larger the substantial number of web objects are available, the more difficult for the clients(i.e. common web users and web robots) and the servers(i.e. Web search engine) to retrieve what they really want. We have in mind focusing on the structure of web objects by introducing optimization models for more convenient and effective information retrieval. For this purpose, we represent web objects and hyperlinks as a directed graph from which the optimal structures are derived in terms of rooted directed spanning trees and Top-k trees. Computational experiments are executed for synthetic data as well as for real web sites' domains so that the Lagrangian Relaxation approaches have exploited the Top-k trees and Hop constraint resolutions. In the experiments, our methods outperformed the conventional approaches so that the complex web graph can successfully be converted into optimal-structured ones within a reasonable amount of computation time.

  • The Semantic Web is an extension of the current Web in which information is given formal and explicit meaning. The Semantic Web enables computer programs to understand information contents and thus facilitates more efficient discovery, automation, integration and sharing of data. To create Semantic Web contents one needs appropriate tools. In this paper, we describe such a toolkit we have constructed. The most important feature of the toolkit is that it makes use of information extraction techniques for automatically annotating web page contents. Experiments with a real life application show promising results and demonstrate the usefulness of the toolkit.

  • Semantic Web society initially focused only on data but has gradually moved toward knowledge. Recently rule beyond ontology has emerged as a key element of the Semantic Web. All of these activities are obviously aiming at making data and knowledge on the Web sharable and reusable between various entities around the world. If one of ultimate visions of the Semantic Web is to increase human's decision making quality assisted by machines, there is a missing but important part to be shared and reused. It is knowledge about constraints on data and concepts represented by ontology which should be emphasized more. In this paper, we propose Semantic Web Constraint Language (SWCL) based on OWL and show how effective SWCL can be in representing and solving an internet shopper's decision making problem by an implementation of a shopping agent in the Semantic Web environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify web designer's knowledge organization for WWW. Linked web sites were investigated in public library web pages. Independent variable was the supervised offices of public libraries and dependent variables were the web sites of type of public libraries, supervised offices of public libraries, and employment information. Results showed that special library and supervised office web sites were linked differently by public library web pages differently based upon supervised offices. This difference was resulted from geographical factors and types of information on the web sites.

  • Web science, a general discipline of learning is presently at high demand of expertise with ideas to develop software-based WebApps and MobileApps to facilitate user or customer demand e.g. shopping etc. electronically with the access at their smartphones benefitting the business enterprise as well. A worldwide-computerized reservation network is used as a single point of access for reserving airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars, and other travel related items directly or via web-based travel agents or via online reservation sites with the advent of social-web, e-commerce, e-business, from anywhere-on-earth (AoE). This results in the accumulation of large and diverse distributed databases known as big data. This paper describes a novel intelligent web-based electronic booking framework for e-business with distributed computing and data mining support with the detail of e-business system flow for e-Booking application architecture design using the approaches for distributed computing and data mining tools support. Further, the importance of business intelligence and data analytics with issues and challenges are also discussed.

  • There are many kinds of research on web graph, most of them are focus on the hyperlinked structure of the web graph. Well known results on the web graph are rich-get-richer phenomenon, small-world phenomenon, scale-free network, etc. In this paper, we define a new directed web graph, so called the Web Usage Pattern Graph (WUPG), that nodes represent web sites and arcs between nodes represent a movement between two sites by users' browsing behavior. The data to constructing the WUPG, approximately 56,000 records, are gathered in the Kyungsung University. The results analysing the data summarized as follows: (i) extremely rich-get-richer phenomenon (ii) average path length between sites is significantly less than the previous one (iii) less external hyperlinks, more internal hyperlinks
