An Energy Self-Sustainable Wireless Sensor System Based on a Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) and Energy Harvester (EH) (미생물연료전지와 에너지 하베스팅에 기반한 에너지 자립형 무선 센서 시스템)

  • Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has been attractive since it can not only treat organic waste in an eco-friendly way by digesting it but also generate electricity by the unique metabolic process of microbes. However, it hasn't been employed in practical use until now because it is hard to integrate a small electricity up to an adequate amount of electric power and difficult to keep its bio-electric activity consistent. In this study, we combined an energy harvester with MFC (MFC-EH) to make the power-integration convenient and developed an energy self-sustainable wireless sensor system driven by a stable electric power produced by MFC-EH. Additionally, we build the low power application measuring data to be cast by the web in real-time so that it can be quickly and easily accessed through the internet. The proposed system could contribute to improvement of waste treatment and up-cycling technologies in near future.

  • This study examined the QM(Quartier Management) Program of Germany for the Regeneration of Deteriorated Residential Blocks in Berlin. This study used basic data research for the 'Neighborhood Management Program' in South Korea. Therefore, German local documents, organization web sites, internal reports were analyzed to understand the status of the Germany's urban regeneration policies and present the conditions. This study was conducted by local interviews, e-mail exchanges and telephone interviews. The following were investigated and analyzed: 1) the present conditions of the urban regeneration policies and regional regeneration in Germany; 2) the characteristics of the QM program (Program's strategy, funding and utilization plans, program's applicable areas, Indicators for regional selection); and 3) examine two cases of the QM Program in Berlin.

  • Social Network has been known as friendship basis human relation service in online network. But a broad sense of Social Network can be explained as a mechanism which makes web evolve to information-ecosystem by human relation and network data which has been generated by the mass of people's cooperation and interchange. Social Network has been expanding their domain from friendship basis relation service to broad social relationship focus of matter of concern. It has been applied to diverse domain. Library community begins to take an interest in Social Network concept to apply user's interchange for information. This paper considers the concept of Social network and it's appliance to a library service. For the more, suggest basic element for vitalizing library user's Social network.

Dieticians' intentions to recommend functional foods: The mediating role of consumption frequency of functional foods

  • This study explored the conceptual framework of dieticians' intentions to recommend functional food and the mediating role of consumption frequency. A web-based survey was designed using a self-administered questionnaire. A sample of Korean dieticians (N=233) responded to the questionnaire that included response efficacy, risk perception, consumption frequency, and recommendation intention for functional foods. A structural equation model was constructed to analyze the data. We found that response efficacy was positively related to frequency of consumption of functional foods and to recommendation intention. Consumption frequency also positively influenced recommendation intention. Risk perception had no direct influence on recommendation intention; however, the relationship was mediated completely by consumption frequency. Dieticians' consumption frequency and response efficacy were the crucial factors in recommending functional foods. Dieticians may perceive risks arising from the use of functional foods in general, but the perceived risks do not affect ratings describing dieticians' intentions to recommend them. The results also indicated that when dieticians more frequently consume functional foods, the expression of an intention to recommend functional foods may be controlled by the salience of past behaviors rather than by attitudes.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this research is to suggest researchers to know the standards of research ethics violation and eliminate the researchers' anxiety for the possible cases in violation of research ethics through the notification on the web site with online paper submission system for over the last year. We have made an effort and achieved the most exemplary and leading position in the academic journals, however, not satisfied with this, we will endeavor to strengthen it. Research design, data and methodology - Plagiarism and overlapping publications are the most serious problems in research ethics. Therefore, it is necessary to verify the submitted articles making use of paper similarity test programs such as copy killer, KCI test, etc. Editorial board and reviewers should present clear evidences and notify contributors on research ethics violation after close review the contributors' article content. Results - This research focused on the submitted articles which were verified as research ethics violation, and categorized them into 7 cases. Conclusions - With analyzing the verified 7 cases from KODISA journals, this research will examine closely the verification system and regulations in the current academic research ethics. Afterwards, this research will seek for solution to the problems and make an effort to get improvement for them.

  • Purpose - The study aims to show the successful application of Six Sigma in software companies for process improvement. Research design, data and methodology - A mixed methodology has been used which include both qualitative and quantitative research. In the qualitative research methodology part, a detailed and comprehensive literature study have been carried out. The literature study consists of articles, books, web materials, discussion forms and others. In the quantitative research methodology part, interviews have been conducted. Results - Six sigma is the practical application of a theoretical statistical measurement that equates to 3.4 defects per million opportunities -a position of practically zero defects for any process or service. Initially originating in Motorola Inc. in 1985 as a response to drastic quality improvement pressures from the threat of Japanese competition, it quickly gained many followers particularly G.E., Allied Signal, Ford Motor Company etc. and more recently attentions have shifted to service environments. There are still some problems and misconceptions existed about the applicability of Six Sigma in software companies. Conclusions - The paper concludes that Six Sigma can bring large benefits for software companies too. Furthermore, software companies have already started to implement Six Sigma approach, like Ericsson, Tata Consultancy Service, etc.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop an evaluation model for e-government system in Korea which is one of world best practices of e-government systems. We have presented a method to perform an efficiency analysis of each e-government service which in a component of e-government system in Korea and to establish a benchmark target for each e-government service. To do this, the output-oriented DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) CCR model was performed for the selected 12 e-government public services of Korean e-government system in this paper. As a result of DEA analysis, first the internet civil appeal support service, the employment comprehensive information service, and the company support information service were evaluated as the efficient solutions among the 12 e-government public services. Second the remaining 9 e-government public services were evaluated as the inefficient information services which should be improved in terms of their service levels. Finally the benchmark targets for the inefficient e-government services were suggested to improve those inefficient systems through DEA analysis.

Measuring Trusts And The Effects On The Consumers' Buying Behavior

  • Purpose: Trust plays an important role in e-commerce because consumers perceive more risk involved with this type of shopping than traditional way of shopping. Trust is defined as complex and multidimensional issue. This paper argues that trust should be considered to have two important components as trust belief and trust intention, in which trust belief has three components as competence, integrity and benevolence. Research design, data and methodology: This study examines the relationship between retailer website quality (web design, navigation, information), reputation and risk toward trust. In addition, trust and risk toward buying behavior are also considered, leading to customer satisfaction. The paper is conducted on a sample of 594 customers with direct experience of online shopping in Vietnam. Both confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and a structural equation model (SEM) were utilised. Results: Empirical findings from this paper indicate that trust is high order construct. Website quality and reputation have positive impacts on customers' trust. Trust has a positive relationship to buying behavior and customers' satisfaction while perceived risk has negative relationship to buying behavior. In contrast, a relationship between perceived risk and trust is not supported in this study. Conclusions: Improving reputation and website quality (especially information) may increase customers' trust and eventually lead to purchase decision.

  • A virtual laboratory for measurement and instrumentation must aim to realize an integrated environment. To achieve this goal, we designed and implemented a client/server distributed environment and developed a web-based virtual laboratory system for electronic circuits. Since our virtual laboratory system is implemented to describe the on-campus laboratory, the learners can obtain similar experimental data through it. The proposed virtual laboratory system is composed of four important components Principle Classroom, Virtual Experiment Classroom, Evaluation Classroom and Overall Management System. Through our virtual laboratory, the learners will be capable of teaming the concepts and theories related to electronic circuit experiments and how to operate the experimental equipments such as multimeters, function generators, digital oscilloscopes and DC power supplies. Also, every activity occurred in our virtual laboratory is recorded on database and Printed out on the preliminary report form. All of these can be achieved by the aid of the Management System. The database connectivity is made by PHP and the virtual laboratory environment is set up slightly differently for each learner. Finally, we have obtained several affirmative effects such as reducing the total experimental hours and the damage rate for experimental equipments and increasing Loaming efficiencies as well as faculty productivity.

Logical Design of Video Security System over Internet (인터넷 화상 방범 시스템 논리 설계)

  • 현재 방범 시스템은 적외선, 초음파 둥의 I-지기의 신호에 의존하여 외부로부터의 침입을 감지하고 있으나 방범 시스템이 설치된 환경에 따라 이런 감지기의 정확성이 달라지므로 오 동작의 가능성을 포함하며 신뢰성이 저하되고 있다. 실제 외부로부터의 침입을 확인하기 위해서는 화상과 음성 그리고 감지기의 신호를 조합하여 정확한 판단이 가능하지만 화상을 전송하기 위해서는 고가의 회선비용을 부담해야만 한다. 하지만 인터넷을 이용하여 화상을 전송하는 제품들이 출시되면서 Real-time 화상감시가 가능해졌다. 이런 화상감시 제품들은 Netscape, MS Explorer와 같은 표준 Web Browser을 통해 Real-time으르 전세계 어디서나 화상을 감시할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 적용분야는 호텔주변, 관광지의 여러 명소에 설치 후 홈페이지에 링크시켜 홍보용으로 사용하거나 공장 주요시설, 교통상황 둥의 중요지역의 Monitoring에 활용하고 있다. 그러나 방범 시스템에 적용하기에는 감지기의 확장성, 방범 관제센터 시스템과의 연동이 부족하여 본 고에서는 현재 출시된 화상감시 시스템과 기존 방범시스템을 Integration하여 방범의 최종 목표인 화상과 감지기 신호의 조합에 따른 정확한 방범시스템의 구현에 대해서 기술하고자 한다. 화상방범시스템의 구현은 크게 두 가지로 나누어지며 첫째는 화상감시 시스템과 방범시스템간의 통신을 설계하는 것으로 기존 대부분의 방범시스템이 사용하는 RS-485 통신 프로토콜을 재설계하여 화상감시 시스템과의 통신을 설계하였으며 둘째는 화상감시시스템과 관제센터 시스템간의 통신을 설계하는 것으로 현재 화상감시 시스템의 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 이용한 socket 통신으로 관제센터 시스템과의 실시간 데이터 전송을 가능하게 했다. 이 시스템을 활용할 경우 고객들은 반드시 관제센터시스템의 인증을 거쳐야 하므로 고객의 DataBase를 축적할수 있으며 이 정보를 활용하여 인터넷 화상방범 서비스 Potal Site구축이 가능하다는 장점이 있다.
