  • Web accessibility refers to the practice of providing equal access to web sites to people without and with disability. This study aims to investigate the web content accessibility of 153 university libraries in Korea, and further suggest the approach to implement an effective university library web site to meet Korean Web Content Accessibility Guidelines(KWCAG). Survey was conducted with two steps. The first step was to find out the general level of web accessibility of all university library web sites using an automatic appraisal tool, KADO-WAH2.0, and the detailed examination of web accessibility check items was limited to 19 web sites which proved excellent in automatic appraisal. Regretfully, the result says that there is no perfect web site. Therefore every university library is advisable to make good use of the findings to meet all the requirements of KWCAG. In particular, the basic requirements, such as voice service, resizing and highlighting text, must be fulfilled by priority and to almost all contents.

  • This study tried to evaluate the usability of web-based academic library services delivered to users in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. 13 subjects were randomly selected on the voluntary basis in Duksung Women's University Library from Dec. 15, 2001 to Feb. 27, 2002. They were given six kinds of tasks related to the use of library services through the library website. 3.6 tasks out of 6 were given right answers by subjects, with success rate of 60% and average spent time of 2 minutes and 22 seconds. The most effective library services on the website was a book search with success rate of 100%. However the least effective service was journal article search with success rate of 23.1% . The most efficient library service on the web was a book search. 100% of subjects found the answer in 42.2 seconds, while the least efficient library service was journal article search in which 23.1% of subjects found the answer in 271.7 seconds. Subjects were highly satisfied with the book request service on the web since it is the easiest to understand and the most convenient to use.

  • Recently, various studies related to ICT convergence have been made. Recently, various studies related to ICT convergence have been made. In the academic field, the demand for ICT convergence is on the rise. For example, Digital Humanities and Area Informatics are representative. Area Studies means to study the culture of a specific area in an integrated way. In this regard, researchers who specialize in researching overseas area generally use websites to obtain information related to the area. The Multilingual Mediterranean Web Service System(MMWS), which is operated by the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of Busan University of Foreign Studies is a web site that provides professional and general information to researchers or ordinary people studying in the Mediterranean area among overseas area. In this paper, we analyzeoverseas web sites the MMWS and discuss how to activate web sites based on the analysis results. In details, it analyze MMWS through log analysis and use Google Analytics, a log analysis system provided by Google for analysis. Also study how to use ICT convergence contents as a website activation method.

  • Purpose Recently, there has been an increase in attempts to analyze social phenomena, consumption trends, and consumption behavior through a vast amount of customer data such as web search traffic information and social buzz information in various fields such as flu prediction and real estate price prediction. Internet portal service providers such as google and naver are disclosing web search traffic information of online users as services such as google trends and naver trends. Academic and industry are paying attention to research on information search behavior and utilization of online users based on the web search traffic information. Although there are many studies predicting social phenomena, consumption trends, political polls, etc. based on web search traffic information, it is hard to find the research to explain and predict tourism demand and establish tourism policy using it. In this study, we try to use web search traffic information to explain the tourism demand for major cities in Gangwon-do, the representative tourist area in Korea, and to develop a nowcasting model for the demand. Design/methodology/approach In the first step, the literature review on travel demand and web search traffic was conducted in parallel in two directions. In the second stage, we conducted a qualitative research to confirm the information retrieval behavior of the traveler. In the next step, we extracted the representative tourist cities of Gangwon-do and confirmed which keywords were used for the search. In the fourth step, we collected tourist demand data to be used as a dependent variable and collected web search traffic information of each keyword to be used as an independent variable. In the fifth step, we set up a time series benchmark model, and added the web search traffic information to this model to confirm whether the prediction model improved. In the last stage, we analyze the prediction models that are finally selected as optimal and confirm whether the influence of the keywords on the prediction of travel demand. Findings This study has developed a tourism demand forecasting model of Gangwon-do, a representative tourist destination in Korea, by expanding and applying web search traffic information to tourism demand forecasting. We compared the existing time series model with the benchmarking model and confirmed the superiority of the proposed model. In addition, this study also confirms that web search traffic information has a positive correlation with travel demand and precedes it by one or two months, thereby asserting its suitability as a prediction model. Furthermore, by deriving search keywords that have a significant effect on tourism demand forecast for each city, representative characteristics of each region can be selected.

Investigation items were study number of information services, subsidiary themes classified with information service functions, study method, collection method, user object, and theory study vs. service study in reality. As a result, information service studies were performed more than other areas. Information service functions targeted at the study were that of information supply. Major subsidiary themes were electronic information service, information literacy instruction, and information (reference) services general. Major study methods were survey research method,, case study, and major material collection methods were questionnaire and web-based research methods. Major user studies were targeted at undergraduates, and service study in reality took a great share.

  • The study aims to identify the problems of the research support service in presidential archives for users who use archives for scholarly purposes. For these purposes, the study conducted a literature survey. Moreover, this study compared and analyzed the content of presidential archives' Web sites between the U.S. and Korea. In addition, we examined the interviews via e-mail with an archivist working in the presidential archives in the U.S. and gained the materials from the presidential archives in Korea through a request of information disclosure. It was found that six improvements were considered by academic users to meet their needs. Consequently, based on the analysis, a research support services framework consisting of a service category was developed. With the proposed services, the academic utilization of presidential archives can be facilitated.

  • As a trend of modern service industry, self-service has been widely concerned by all walks of life, but there is a lack of literature on systematic management of the overall research in this field. Recently, people's lifestyle has been forced to change due to the influence of COVID-19, while there have been some changes in the field of self-service research. Based on the Web of Science data source, this study takes the literature of self-service field before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 as the research object, and summarizes the development process, research status and future research trend of self-service field through the Citespace visualization tool. The research shows that firstly, academic circles continue to be enthusiastic about self-service field research, cooperation between countries is becoming more and more diversified. Secondly, the communication between researchers is becoming more and more intensive, and the cooperation between different disciplines gradually becomes the mainstream. Third, related research gradually shifted to the practical application of technology, the research perspective gradually shifted from the initial traditional retail perspective industries such as tourism services. Finally, the role of customer experience and participation behavior in self-service process is gradually emphasized.
