Presented in this paper was to evaluate and improve the usability of a web-based logistics information system. The system was developed for the domestic company to track and monitor its own transportation vehicles and for the customers to check the current location of their packages by using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Short Massage Service (SMS). Since the initial system was developed under a tight schedule set by the company, the system designers and programmers did not focus on the usability of the system but on the functionality. Consequently, some usability problems of the system were discovered during the heuristic usability evaluation. This study was required to solve these usability issues. Usability problems of the initial system were identified and analyzed, and the user's requirements for the system were re-evaluated to meet the company's expectation. Several alternative designs were developed by fitted guidelines and then a updated system was developed. The updated system had an empirical usability test to find how much the initial system was improved from the heuristic evaluation. Two kinds of data were gathered during the tests: objective (completion time and number of errors) and subjects' preference. Data showed the updated system is better than the initial system in terms of usability. Presented in this paper includes introduction of the Usability evaluation, usability engineering process applied in this research, alternative design of GUI, usability test and results.

본 논문에서는 대한민국 전자정부 포털사이트와 링크된 웹사이트를 유용성이란 관점에서 평가한다. 18개의 대표적인 정부 웹사이트를 선정하고, 이용자가 웹사이트에서 정답을 찾을 수 있는 과제를 수행하게 한 후, 이용자 만족도를 측정한다. 유용성 평가를 위하여 두 가지 유형의 설문지를 사용하는데 유형 1은 16개의 평가 문항으로 구성되며, 유형 2는 페이지 디자인, 콘텐츠 디자인, 사이트 디자인의 세 항목에 대한 세부 문항으로 구성된다.

최근 클라우드 컴퓨팅이 빠르게 확산되면서 기존의 인터넷 환경 뿐 아니라 모바일 클라우드 컴퓨팅에 관한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 스마트폰을 비롯한 모바일 단말기는 하드웨어를 비롯하여 애플리케이션, 서비스까지 모든 면에서 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 하지만 웹표준 준수 및 모바일 웹에 대한 이해가 부족한 국내 모바일 인터넷 환경에서는 인터넷 접속이 원활하지 않고, 국내 웹사이트의 대부분이 다양한 기능과 화려한 디자인에 주력하여 개발하고 있기 때문에 스마트폰이나 태블릿 PC에서 접속시 사용성 및 접근성을 떨어뜨리는 요인이 된다. 이에 본 연구는 모바일 클라우드 환경에서 사용성과 접근성을 고려한 웹 인터페이스를 제안하고 이를 사용성 평가를 통하여 검증하고자 한다. 우리는 이미 선행 연구를 통하여 모바일 단말기 환경에 최적화된 메인페이지 인터페이스를 제안하고 그 사용성이 개선되었음을 입증하였으나, 이는 웹사이트 전체에 대한 사용성을 보증하지 못한다. 본 연구는 선행 연구를 통하여 제시하였던 웹표준의 준수와 그를 통한 웹 인터페이스 방식이 해당 웹사이트 전체에 걸쳐 사용성을 개선함을 보인다. 우리는 클라우드 컴퓨팅에 최적화된 웹사이트를 선정하여 웹사이트 전체에 대한 사용성 평가를 실시함으로써 실제로 그 접근성 및 사용성이 개선되었음을 검증한다. 또한, 이러한 개선을 통하여 기업이나 개인 모바일 웹사이트 개발자들에게 유저 인터페이스(UI) 디자인 적용을 위한 지침을 제공한다.

Current web accessibility checks and automatic assessments have been pointed out that the assessment items and scores are evaluated from the developer's point of view rather than from the user's one. In addition, although most of the grades of an automatic assessment on the public web sites are excellent because they are built in accordance with the web accessibility development guidelines, not a few web sites shows relatively low grades in evaluating their usability test made by those users. Taking into account the inadequacy of these web accessibility assessments, this study has identified the differences between the grades of usability evaluations and automatic evaluations for people with low vision and analyzed the major factors affecting web accessibility usability evaluations using Repertory Grid Techniques. Also, the Hard Laddering method of the Means-End Chain theory was adopted to visualize the relationship between Attributes-Conferences-Value and a hierarchical value system analysis based on FGI(Focused Group Interview) to people with the low vision. This study proposed the measures to improve the current web accessibility automatic assessment allocation, expert evaluation criteria, and user task assessment. In particular, it is a web accessibility user evaluation model that can consider the web accessibility quality certification criteria and user review assessment by directly analyzing the user cognitive structure and value system. This study is expected to be useful as a research to enhance the quality of web accessibility assessment.

온라인 전자상거래가 활발해 짐에 따라 온라인 전자상거래 사이트에 있어서 사용성의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 특히 농식품과 같은 이질적인 상품의 경우 온라인 전자상거래 사이트에서 사용자들은 가격보다 전자상거래의 거래단계 중 정보단계의 정보의 질에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 실제로 Wine.com, Tesco 와 같은 성공적인 농식품 전자상거래 사이트에서는 웹사이트의 지속적인 테스팅이 성공요인으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구에서는 농식품 온라인 전자상거래과정에 있어 분석되어야 할 프로세스를 알아보고, 구매 프로세스에 준한 사용자의 이용행태에 따른 인터페이스 분석, 평가를 통해 그 결과를 바탕으로 농식품 전자상거래 사이트의 사용성 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 휴리스틱평가를 통한 객관적 평가로써 전자상거래의 정보단계를 보다 세분화 하여 평가 할 수 있으며, 발성사고법을 통한 사용자 과업 수행 관찰을 통하여 기존의 만족도 조사보다 적은 시간과 비용으로 사용성 평가를 할 수 있게 되었다.

The use of web widgets on desktop and mobile devices has been increasing rapidly. Web widgets provide access to activities and information from various sources across the web. As the number of supported widgets increases, managing widgets and finding relevant or interesting widgets becomes more complex. In addition, interacting with widgets in web service systems can be difficult, especially for novice users. Up to this point, there has been little research on web widget usability. This paper performs an experimental study regarding user interfaces of web widgets based on the mouse tracking and work-flow analysis. In the experiment, four sites providing widget services are chosen - iGoogle, Netvibes, My yahoo, and Wizard. The experiment participants perform three assigned tasks in the chosen sites, and their mouse operations are recorded using Camtasia, a screen casting software. Mouse tracking analysis is performed based on the recorded data in order to analyze common user behaviors. In addition, work-flow diagrams representing the operational flows to carry out the given tasks in each web site are constructed so as to visually and systematically analyze detailed usage patterns. The experimental study results presented in this paper can contribute to developing guidelines for highly usable and accessible interface design of web widgets.

웹 기반 정보 서비스는, 웹 정보 서버와 상호작용하는, 다양한 인터넷 웹-브라우징 기기들과의 접근성과 사용성을 위해서 평가되어야 한다. 다양한 웹-브라우징 장치로(예: 풀부라우징 휴대폰) 접근 및 사용가능하며, 신뢰할 수 있는 유비쿼터스 웹 정보서버는 유비쿼터스 웹 정보 서비스뿐만 아니라 개인화된 광고기반의 비즈니스 모델을 위한 통합센터가 되어야 한다. 개인화된 유비쿼터스 웹 정보 서비스를 위한 웹 상호작용의 접근성과 사용성을, 실시간 평가를 위한 메트릭으로서, 연구하였다. 시험용 웹사이트 ('ktrip.net')와 1자 한글 도메인명(예: 김.net, 이.net, 박.net, 최.net, ㄱ.net, ㄴ.net ... ㅎ.net, ㅏ.net ... ㅔ.net, ㄱ.com, ㄴ.com ... ㅎ.com)을 사용하여, 구현 및 한국, 일본 및 중국에서의 실험을 바탕으로 한 실험적 결과를 소개한다.

With the huge tendency of users toward online web sites, many issues regarding the user behavior interacting with these websites are yet still underestimated and not addressed in all aspects from software developers or business organizations. In this paper, we solely focus on the usability analysis of social network websites to enhance and improve the use of these social websites for more effective and motivational interaction. We use T-Model procedure as a mechanism of this research. Subjects with variation of expertise are contributed to the research of this paper. Minor quantitative analysis will be employed to test the hypothetical of this research in the further research. Result and its implications will be discussed profoundly at the end of this research.

In this study, the usability evaluation of a menu-structure was performed using spreading activation model with respect to human's memory retrieval. Spreading Activation Model is effectively used to understand the process of information retrieval, so it can be used as a theoretical background for modeling of the process of human's information retrieval. For spreading activation test (SAT), subjects were presented with 67 pairs of menu titles, which consist of a menu title in the high level menu item and a menu title for the next lower level menu item, from Korea University's web site. For performance tests, three scenarios were developed with longer reaction times and ambiguous associations found in the SAT to reflect the existing problems of the website. As a result, the SAT was found to bean effective tool to enhance the website usability because the SAT could bea substitute for the performance test with a high correlation $({\rho}=0.735,\;{\alpha}=0.05)$. After remaining menu titles with slow reaction times and ambiguous associations found in SAT, the website usability was significantly improved with faster reaction times and less ambiguous associations proven with smaller number of web-page visits. Therefore, the SAT could be used as a methodology to design and evaluate the user-centered menu structure related to human's association structure.
