  • The research on applying typographic medium to typography has been active, and the results have been Used on designs. ut method of applying editing design in imaginary space in the Web environment to typographic medium has been used in actual life instead of editing design for print outs. In this treatise, we will look into appropriate method to apply typography under the Web environment through research , and limitation of applying typography as a method to apply typography into the Web environment appropriately, and discuss the alternative for it.

  • An archiving system designed to enable documenting database of astronomical images, with functions of search and download, is being developed by Korean Astronomical Data Center(KADC) of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI). The system consists of three PCs for web server, database server, and system management server. The search program for the web environment is operated in the web server. In the management server, several utility program we developed are installed: input program for the database, program for transfer from fits to jpg files, program for data recovery and management, and programs for statistics and connect management. The collected data would be sorted out by the system manager to input into the database. The online input is possible in an observatory where the data is produced. We applied the content management system(CMS) module for the database management. On the basic of CMS module, we set up a management system for the whole life cycle of metadata from creation and collection to storage and deletion of the data. For the search function, we employed a technique to extract indices from the metadata. In addition, MySQL is adopted for DBMS. We currently display about 2,700 and 25,000 photographs for astronomical phenomena and astronomical objects on the data, respectively.

A Comprehensive Evaluation Framework of Web Sites as Living Places in Cyber Space (삶의 공간으로서의 웹 사이트에 대한 평가 체계)

  • With a swift development of information technology, web sites get more important roles as user's living places. This quantitative and qualitative expansion of web sites requires the need for an evaluation framework of web sites from comprehensive perspectives. This study proposes two dimensions for web site categorization and three dimensions for web site evaluation. These dimensions were developed based on the architectural perspectives that have been used to evaluate buildings in the real world for more than a thousand years. First, in order to categorize various web sites, we extracted two dimensions, user's goals and user's behaviors from behavioral architect which approaches user's behaviors in designing buildings. Second, in order to evaluate four web sites groups, we suggested three dimensions, which are firmness, commodity, delight used in evaluating buildings in the real world. Then for each of the four different web sites groups an empirical survey was conducted to verify these three dimensions of architectural metrics. This ends with study implications and limitations.

  • In this study, the CIE RGB color space which was one of the most popular device-dependent application program in digital image processing was adopted to make the profile with the device information. The profile was applied to the digital image of a JPEG file format. The result was compared with the color reproduction of another digital image of a JPEG file format, which was made in the e-sRGB color space that had the color spaces allocated to each reproduced color of an image and device-independent colors. In this way it was investigated which color space was more appropriate for digital image processing for web printing and if the e-sRGB color space was good as a color management tool that didn't depend on a device in processing a digital image for web printing.

  • This article identifies an emerging research paradigm and monitors the changes in digital preservation area using CiteSpace, a Java application which supports visual exploration with knowledge discovery in bibliographic databases. 74 articles on digital preservation field covering the time period from 1990-2005 were extracted from Web of Science. According to the result of analysis, core knowledge domains in digital preservation are technical preservation strategies, information network and preservation system, knowledge management and electronic government.

User modeling based on fuzzy category and interest for web usage mining

  • Web usage mining is a research field for searching potentially useful and valuable information from web log file. Web log file is a simple list of pages that users refer. Therefore, it is not easy to analyze user's current interest field from web log file. This paper presents web usage mining method for finding users' current interest based on fuzzy categories. We consider not only how many times a user visits pages but also when he visits. We describe a user's current interest with a fuzzy interest degree to categories. Based on fuzzy categories and fuzzy interest degrees, we also propose a method to cluster users according to their interests for user modeling. For user clustering, we define a category vector space. Experiments show that our method properly reflects the time factor of users' web visiting as well as the users' visit number.

  • Efficient using of web cache is becoming important factor that decide system management efficiency in web-Based system. Cache performance depends heavily on replacement algorithms, which dynamically select a suitable subset of objects for caching in a finite space. However, replacement algorithm on web cache has many differences than traditional replacement algorithm. In this paper, a web-caching algorithm is proposed for efficient operation of web base system. The algorithm is designed based on a divided scope that considered size reference characteristic and heterogeneity on web object. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed with an experiment. With the experiment results, the algorithm is compared with previous replacement algorithms, and its performance is confirmed ith an improvement of response speed.

An Efficient Retrieval Technique for Spatial Web Objects (공간 웹 객체의 효율적인 검색 기법)

  • Spatial web objects refer to web documents that contain geographic information. Recently, services that create spatial web objects have increased greatly because of the advancements in devices such as smartphones. For services such as Twitter or Facebook, simple texts posted by users is stored along with information about the post's location. To search for such spatial web objects, a method that uses spatial information and text information simultaneously is required. Conventional spatial web object search methods mostly use R-tree and inverted file methods. However, these methods have a disadvantage of requiring a large volume of space when building indices. Furthermore, such methods are efficient for searching with many keywords but are inefficient for searching with a few keywords.. In this paper, we propose a spatial web object search method that uses a quad-tree and a patricia-trie. We show that the proposed technique is more effective than existing ones in searching with a small number of keywords. Furthermore, we show through an experiment that the space required by the proposed technique is much smaller than that required by existing ones.

  • The present thesis is to concretize process stages and methods for effective use of online CGTS(creative group thinking system), or the web-storming program, in space design and to propose a support system for idea generation specific to space design. For the purpose of this study, activity factors in space design process and functional factors of the web-storming program were written into an interaction matrix, which was used for a questionnaire survey on correlations. Then, the results of the interaction matrix were visualized and analyzed following the procedure of observation-interpretation-application. The analysis found that the schematic design stage is most correlated where close collaboration is performed in the process of space design and that differences in correlation arise upon division of work. As such, the present study proposed 'provision of media for ideas in accordance with specific process and UI optimization' as a means of improving usability in schematic design that is closely correlated and suggested an idea to enhance the applicability of web-storming system in division of work.
