  • The purpose of this study is to pronounce design trends in contemporary architecture collaborated with new media art concept. Currently, the prevalence of media presence has evolved perspectives on contemporary aesthetics today. To make clear demonstration on the issue, this study categorized new media art's expressional characteristics applied in the contemporary architectural design in conjunction with analytical researches on typologies and expressional characteristics appear in new media art. More specifically, the study selected architects who adopted new media art's expressional characteristics into their works from the year 2000 and performed analytical case studies with regard to the effect of the new media art into their architectural practices. By following methodologies mentioned above, conclusively the study categorized distinct expressional characteristics appears in contemporary architecture as a result of merging with new media art. The characteristics of the new media art appeared in contemporary architecture are categorized into three groups such as the design controlling external environment, the design utilizing web environment and the design participated by users. These observation could be translated that architects could present interactive design between users and building as a result from architect's capability of designing protocols which generate variable forms, colors and patterns in architecture. In particular, architecture utilizing web environment has characteristic capability of configurating user's program in virtual space. Also it is anticipated to suggest new patterns in generating architectural programs and forms. These patterns would not recognize the city merely as an incident or fragmented image but would configurate forms and images constructed by individual notional character. In conclusion, the architecture itself is expected to perform as media to open up opportunities that enables to contribute in expediting interactions among environment, users, and buildings by deviating from perspectives of representation as an object expressed in modernism architecture or as a classical decoration in post-modernism architecture in the past era.

  • User Generated contents(UGC) interchange with internet users actively in Web2.0 environment. According to growth of content sharing site, the number of non-expert's contents increased. But non-expert's contents have a simple media just recorded. For providing actual feeling like effects and actions to non-expert's contents, we suggest Fusion Media Middleware(FMM). The FMM can increase user satisfaction by providing actual feeling. Furthermore, The content changes advanced media that has emotional impression. The FMM for providing actual feeling classify the inputted media as a scene based on MPEG-7. The FMM provide an actual feeling to simple media by inserting effects like a sound, image and text among the classified media. Using the BSD code of MPEG-21, the FMM can link up with inputted media and effects. Through the mapping BSD code the FMM control synchronization between media and effects. In this paper, Using the Fusion Media Middleware, the non-expert's contents express value as multimedia that has an actual feeling. Futhermore, the FMM creates flow of new media circulation.

  • Tangible Space is a new emerging interaction space with mobile AR/VR computing and ubiquitous computing environment with IoT. Tangible Space spans from a physical environment augmented with virtual entities to immersive virtual environments mirroring the physical environment. Interacting with Tangible Space is logged just like interacting with the Web. By webizing Tangible Space, we can gain persistence as a by-product so that human life experience in the physical environment can be logged and shared just like the information being created and shared in the current Web. The result is a powerful future direction of the web from a World Wide Web of Information to World Wide Web of Life experiences.

  • This study focused on realizing the UX pattern elements for Wordpress service, and applying the UX pattern approach to enhance UX consideration in Wordpress theme service. The Wordpress UX pattern system was developed based on web UX pattern analysis, and on characteristics of Wordpress components and theme filtering tags. The Wordpress UX pattern system was further analyzed in 22 popular Wordpress themes and 20 web UX scenarios, to evaluate its working by defining theme UX as a case study. The Wordpress theme filtering service GUI was designed based on the Wordpress UX pattern system as a design suggestion. Web technology is evolving rapidly, and web design has become a ready-made service with less user experience consideration, or design creativity. This study directs to keep track of UX value in an emerging web service paradigm.

  • Social media is becoming more and more important in social movements. This study, adopting the web mining approach, attempts to investigate how social media, Facebook in particular, functioned in the "May 25 Protest" and the "May 27 Protest", two movements which broke out in Macao on 25 and 27 May 2014, respectively, against the Retirement Package Bill. In the two protests, Macao residents deployed Facebook to share information and motivated people's participation. Twelve events (181,106 people invited) and 36 groups/pages (41,266 members) related on Facebook were examined. Results showed that the information flow on Facebook fluctuated in accordance with the event development in reality. Multiple patterns of manifestation, such as video of adopted news or songs, designed profile (protest icon), original ironic pictures, self-organized clubs by undergraduates and white T-shirts as a symbol, among others, appeared online and interacted with offline actions. It was also found that social media assisted the information diffusion and provided persuasive reasons for netizens to join the movement. Social media helped to expand movement influence in providing a platform for diversified performances for actions taken in a protest, which could express and develop core and consistent movement repertoire.
