It is reported that $\varepsilon$ (HCP) and $\gamma$ (FCC) phases of a Fe-17Mn alloy transform to $\alpha'$ phase, which has BCC structure, under a deformation condition. In this study, we investigated the effect of strain-induced-transformed $\alpha'$ phase on sliding wear of the Fe-17Mn alloy that originally had e and y phases. Wear tests of the materials were carried out using a pin-on-disk wear tester at various loads of 0.5N-50N under a constant sliding speed condition of 0.38m/s against glass $(83\%\;SiO_2)$ beads. The sliding distance and radius were loom and 9 mm, respectively. Wear rate of the Fe-17Mn alloy was calculated by dividing the weight loss, measured to the accuracy of $10^{-5}g$ by the measured specific gravity and sliding distance. Worn surface and wear debris of the specimens were examined using an SEM and XRD. During the wear, $\alpha'$ phase of BCC structure was formed by strain-induced transformation when the applied wear load exceeded critical values. The $\alpha'$ phase formed by the strain induced transformation increased the wear rate of the Fe-17Mn alloy.
Due to the increased integration density of VLSI circuits a highly reliable thin oxide film is required to fabricate a small geometry MOS device. The behavior of thermal $SiO_2$ under high electric field and current condition has a major effect on MOS device degration and also the practical use of MOS device under irradiation has cause the degration of thin oxide films. In this paper, in order to evaluate the reliability of thin oxides with no stress applied and stressed by the irradiation under low electric field, the tests of TDDB (Time-dependent-dielectric breakdown) are used. Failure times against electric field are examined and acceleration factor is obtained for each case. Based on the experimental data, breakdown wear out limitation for thin oxide films is characterised.
In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance(PM) policy in which each PM reduces the hazard rate of amount proportional to the failure intensity, which increases since the last PM and slows down the wear-out speed to that of new one. And the proportion of reduction in hazard rate decreases with the number of PMs. Our model is similar to $ARI_1$ proposed by Doyen and Gaudoin(2004) in the sense of reduction of hazard rate. Our model has totally different wear-out pattern of hazard rate after PM's, however, and the proportion of reduction depends on the number of PM's. Assuming that the system undergoes only minimal repairs at failures between PM's, the expected cost rate per unit time is obtained. The optimal number N of PM and the optimal period x, which minimize the expected cost rate per unit time are discussed. Explicit solutions for the optimal periodic PM are given for the Weibull distribution case.

The lifetime of a solid-state drive (SSD) is limited because of the number of program and erase cycles allowed on its NAND flash blocks. Data cannot be overwritten in an SSD, leading to an out-of-place update every time the data are modified. This result in two copies of the data: the original copy and a modified copy. This phenomenon is known as write amplification and adversely affects the endurance of the memory. In this study, we address the issue of reducing wear leveling through efficient handling of write requests. This results in even wearing of all the blocks, thereby increasing the endurance period. The focus of our work is to logically divert the write requests, which are concentrated to limited blocks, to the less-worn blocks and then measure the maximum number of write requests that the memory can handle. A memory without the proposed algorithm wears out prematurely as compared to that with the algorithm. The main feature of the proposed algorithm is to delay out-of-place updates till the threshold is reached, which results in a low overhead. Further, the algorithm increases endurance by a factor of the threshold level multiplied by the number of blocks in the memory.
Hard turning process can be defined as a single-point machining process carried out on "hard" materials. The process is intended to replace or limit traditional grinding operations that are expensive, environmentally unfriendly, and inflexible. The purpose of this study is to achieve a systematic understanding of machining characteristics and the effects of machining parameters on cutting force, tool wear shape and chip formation by the outer cutting of a kind of wear resistant tungsten carbide V30. Hard turning experiments were carried out on this alloy using the PCD (Poly Crystalline Diamond), cBN (cubic Boron Nitride) and PcBN (Polycrystalline cubic Boron Nitride) cutting tools. The PcBN and the usual cBN tools were used to be compare with the PCD tool and the dry turning was carried out. The PcBN is attractive as the tool material which replaces the PCD. The tool wear width and cutting force were measured, and the worn tool and chip were observed. The difference of the tool wear mechanism among the three tool materials was investigated.

The results were as follows : (1) Significant differences were found among men in twenties, thirties and forties according to the self-image. Men in forties favored the conservative and not-noticeable image of casual wear, however, men in twenties and thirties favored those of the active, sexy, and distinctive image. (2) Significant differences were found among men in twenties, thirties and forties according to the importance of the store attributes such as convenience of transportation and parking place, clothing in vogue, and various merchandise. Men in thirties and forties put more importance on convenience of transportation and parking place. Men in forties put more importance on various merchandise than men in twenties and thirties. (3) Significant differences were found among men in twenties, thirties and forties according to general purchase behavior of casual wear. * Differences of the use of information according to age Majority of the men consulted the T.V., radio and people in their boundaries * Differences of the clothing purchase frequency according to age Men in twenties buy more clothing than other age groups. Men in twenties buy the clothing every one month and every three months and men in thirties and forties buy the clothing every three months and every six months. * Differences of the shopping day according to age Majority of the men buy the clothing on Saturday and Sunday. However men in twenties buy the clothing more on weekdays than other age groups. * Differences of the shopping place according There were not significant differences among three different age groups and majority of the men found out to utilize the department store. * Differences of the influence of the partners according to age Men in twenties found out to rely on their own decisions but men in thirties and forties found out to depend on their wives(loves). * Differences of the selection standards of casual wear according to age There were not significant differences according to age and adult males found out to select the casual wear by design, quality price in sequence.
With the spread of smart manufacturing, one of the key topics of the 4th industrial revolution, manufacturing systems are moving beyond automation to smartization using artificial intelligence. In particular, in the existing automatic machining, a number of machining defects and non-processing occur due to tool damage or severe wear, resulting in a decrease in productivity and an increase in quality defect rates. Therefore, it is important to measure and predict tool life. In this paper, ν-ASVR (ν-Asymmetric Support Vector Regression), which considers the asymmetry of ⲉ-tube and the asymmetry of penalties for data out of ⲉ-tube, was proposed and applied to the tool wear prediction problem. In the case of tool wear, if the predicted value of the tool wear amount is smaller than the actual value (under-estimation), product failure may occur due to tool damage or wear. Therefore, it can be said that ν-ASVR is suitable because it is necessary to overestimate. It is shown that even when adjusting the asymmetry of ⲉ-tube and the asymmetry of penalties for data out of ⲉ-tube, the ratio of the number of data belonging to ⲉ-tube can be adjusted with ν. Experiments are performed to compare the accuracy of various kernel functions such as linear, polynomial. RBF (radialbasis function), sigmoid, The best result isthe use of the RBF kernel in all cases
Ready-mixed concrete is unconsolidated concrete typically transported to construction sites by using mixer trucks. A proper rotation of concrete is necessary to prevent its solidification in mixer trucks during transport: in accordance with the manufacturing method and quality inspection prescribed in KSF4009, this movement is maintained after the manufacturing of concrete in professional production plants and the addition of water, solid materials, and admixtures. Unfortunately, mixer truck parts wear out over long periods of time. In order to improve the wear resistance of the main part of mixer trucks, we used a steel plate with good wear resistance or partially added a reinforcement plate. In this study, we first tested the properties of concrete (as required for the DEM), and then carried out mixing and discharge simulations to define the actual operating conditions of mixer trucks. For each condition, we calculated the amount and location of wear. The reliability of our results was finally verified by comparing them with the measurement values. Overall, this study provided basic data for an optimal design of mixer trucks: one that would reduce the vehicles' weight and production costs.

Most recent, Plasma ceramic spray is used on parts of tribosystem, has been investigated on the tribological performance. The application of ceramic coatings by plasma spray has become essential in tribosystems to produce better wear resistance and longer life in various conditions. The purpose of this work was to investigate the wear behavior of $8%Y_2O_3-ZrO_2$ coating due to temperatures of post-spay heat treatment. The plasma-sprayed $8%Y_2O_3--Zirconia$ coating was idiscussed to know the relationship between phase transformations and temperatures of post- spray heat treatment. Wear tests was carried out with ball on disk type on normal load of 50N, 70N and 90N under room temperature. The transformation of phase and the value of residual stress were measured by X-ray diffraction method(XRD). Tribological characteristics and wear mechanisms of coatings was observed by SEM. The tribologieal wear performance was discussed a point of view for residual stress. Consequently. post-spray heat treatment plays an important role in decreasing residual stress. Residual stress in coating system has a significant influence on the wear mechanism of coating.
The plasma sprayed $Cr_3C_2$-NiCr coatings are widely used as wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials. The mechanical and wear properties of the plasma sprayed $Cr_3C_2$-NiCr coating on steel plate were examined in this study. The pore in the coatings could be classified into two types, the one is the intrinsic pore originated from the spraying powder, the other is the extrinsic pore formed during spraying. During the tensile adhesion test, the fracture occured at the interface of top coating and bond coating. It is though that the compressive residual stress increases with the increase of the top coating thickness. From the wear test, it was found that the wear rate increased with the increase of the sliding velocity regardless of the temperature. It is thought that the fracture toughness reduces with the increase of the sliding velocity at $30^{\circ}C$ and that the adhesion amount increases with the increase of the sliding velocity at $400^{\circ}C$ It is concluded that the wear mechanism at $30^{\circ}C$ is the fracture and pull-out of the carbide particles due to the fatigue on sliding surface, while the wear mechanism at $400^{\circ}C$ is the adhesion of the smeared layer formed during wear process.
