The Korean three-way stop contrast (lenis, aspirated, fortis) is currently undergoing a sound change, such that the primary cue distinguishing lenis and aspirated stops is shifting from voice onset time (VOT) to F0. Despite recent discussions of this shift, research on voice quality, traditionally considered an additional cue signaling the contrast, remains sparse. This study investigated the extent to which the associated voice quality [as reflected in the acoustic measurements of H1^*-H2^*, H1^*- A1^*, and cepstral peak prominence (CPP)] contributes to the three-way stop contrast, and how the realization is conditioned by prominence- vs. boundary-induced prosodic strengthening amid the ongoing sound change. Results for 12 native Korean speakers indicate that there was a substantial distinction in voice quality among the three stop categories with the breathiness of the vowel being the greatest after the lenis, intermediate after the aspirated, and least after the fortis stops, indicating the role of voice quality in the maintenance of the three-way stop contrast. Furthermore, prosodic strengthening has different effects on the contrast and contributes to the enhancement of the phonological contrast contingent on whether it is induced by prominence or boundary.

This study presents the design of a Wilkinson power divider for three-way output ports (WPD3OP), which incorporates a defected ground structure (DGS). An asymmetric power divider is integrated into the output ports of the conventional Wilkinson power divider (WPD), establishing a three-way output port configuration. The DGS introduces periodic or irregular patterns into the ground plane to suppress unwanted electromagnetic wave propagation, and its incorporation can enhance the performance of the power divider, in terms of the power-division ratio, isolation, and bandwidth, by reducing spurious resonances. The proposed design algorithm for an asymmetric power divider for three-way output ports is analyzed via circuit simulations using High-Frequency Simulation Software (HFSS). The results verify the validity of the proposed method. The analysis of the WPD3OP integrated with DGS certifies the achievement of a center frequency of 2 GHz. This confirmation is supported by schematic ideal design simulation results and measurements encompassing insertion losses, return losses, and isolation.

A MIMO multi-way relay channel with full data exchange in which K users exchange messages with each other via the help of a single relay is considered. For the case in which each link is quasi-static Rayleigh fading and the relay is full-duplex, the fundamental diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) is investigated, and we show that a compress-and-forward relay protocol can achieve the optimal DMT.

We first derive group ordering reference priors in a two-way mixed-effects analysis of variance (ANOVA) model. We show that posterior distributions are proper and provide marginal posterior distributions under reference priors. We also examine whether the reference priors satisfy the probability matching criterion. Finally, the reference prior satisfying the probability matching criterion is shown to be good in the sense of frequentist coverage probability of the posterior quantile.

To remove nitrogen oxides(NOx) in exhaust gas of diesel engine, three-way catalytic process with plasma discharger has great possibilities. Characteristics of NOx removal depends on NO conversion to NO$_2$and/or HNO$_3$due to high activation energies for NO oxidation and reduction. NOx removal efficiency by using three-way catalytic with plasma discharger indicated about 50% at 40watt power consumption condition.

An empirical Bayesian approach is discussed for estimation of characteristics from the two-way balanced rotation sampling design which includes U.S. Current Population Survey and Canadian Labor Force Survey as special cases. An empirical Bayesian estimator is derived for monthly effect under presence of two types of biases and correlations It is shown that the marginal distribution of observation provides more general correlation structure than that frequentist has assumed. Consistent estimators are derived for hyper-parameters in Normal priors.

현대인들은 매일 반복되는 일상 속에서 시간의 틀을 벗어나지 못한 채 항상 바쁘고 정신없이 살아간다. 이를 극복 못하는 것은 곧 실직을 의미하며, 그것은 자신의 사회적 존재가치를 상실했다는 의미가 아닐까 생각된다. 현대 물질 문명이라는 현실의 거대한 체제 아래서 물질이 종속적으로 인간을 지배함으로서 생기는 비인간화${\cdot}$익명화${\cdot}$공허감은 누구나 한 번쯤 느끼게 된다. ‘길(Way)' 이라는 것은 인생을 하나의 상징적 의미로 표현한 것이다. 현대인들은 성공이라는 인생을 목표를 향해 뒤돌아 볼 시간도 없이 너무 빠르게 앞으로 나아간다. 인생의 종착점은 누구나 알 수 없다. ’길(Way)' 이라는 작품을 통해 바쁘게 살아가는 현대인들의 삶을 한 번 돌이켜 보고자 한다.

The limiting distribution for the linear placement statistics under the null hypotheses has been provided by Orban and Wolfe [9] and Kim [5] when one of the sample sizes goes to infinity, and by Kim, Lee and Wang [6] when the sample sizes of each group go to infinity simultaneously. In this paper we establish the generalized Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance for the linear placement statistics.

We report the discovery of a new Milky Way globular cluster (GC) candidate in the Galactic plane. We found this object during our WISE survey of star clusters in the Milky Way. We derived physical parameters of this object using the 2MASS JHK photometry. The color-magnitude diagram of the resolved stars shows a well-developed red giant branch (RGB). We derived its reddening, distance and metallicity. These results indicate that it is probably an old globular cluster, located behind the Galactic disk.

In this paper we propose a new method for obtaining two way switchable LCD. For this two domain vertical alignment LCD is used. A two way LCD is able to show different images on the same screen based on left and right perspectives. Viewing angle dependence of different grey levels of transmittance for the polar angles 0, +45 and -45 degree are also found out.
