  • Recently efficient image coding algorithms using zerotree have been proposed. In these methods, the locations of nonzero wavelet coefficients are encoded with a tree structure, called zerotree, which can exploit the self-similarity of the wavelet pyramid decomposition across different scales. These are very effective, especially in low bit rate image coding. In this paper, two zerotree image coding algorithms, EZW and SPIHT, are briefly introduced, and a new zerotree searching scheme is proposed to emphasize the significance of a wavelet coefficient by its orientations as well as its scale.

  • In this paper we propose high quality audio coding algorithm using psychoacoustic modelling and the adaptive wavelet Packet decomposition. The bit allocation scheme exploits the remnants of temporal correlations that exist in the wavelet packet coefficients by SPIHT. The proposed algorithm achieve almost transparent coding of monophonic compact disk(CD) quality signals at about 44 kbps.

  • A method for high impedance fault(HIF) detection based on wavelet transform is presented in this paper. HIF is detected and classified by obtaining the energy distribution curve from the wavelet coefficients at each level. The energy distribution of each transient disturbance has unique deviation from sinusoidal wave in particular energy level, which is adopted to provide reliable classification of the type of transient.

  • The Shannon sampling series is the prototype of an interpolating series or sampling series. Also the Shannon wavelet is one of the protypes of wavelets. But the coefficients of the Shannon sampling series are different function values at the point of discontinuity, we analyze the Gibbs phenomenon for the Shannon sampling series. We also find a way to go around this overshoot effect.

  • This paper proposes a method for producing smooth and positive estimates of the intensity function of an inhomogeneous Poisson process based on the shrinkage of wavelet coefficients of the observed counts. The information projection is used in conjunction with the level-dependent thresholds to yield smooth and positive estimates. This work is motivated by and demonstrated within the context of a problem involving gamma-ray burst data in astronomy. Simulation results are also presented in order to show the performance of the information projection estimators.

  • This paper presents an approach to classify normal and arrhythmia from the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database using Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT), Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) and neural network. In the first step, Discrete Cosine Transform is used to obtain the representative 15 coefficients for input features of neural network. In the second step, Discrete Wavelet Transform are used to extract maximum value, minimum value, mean value, variance, and standard deviation of detail coefficients. Neural network classifies normal and arrhythmia beats using 55 numbers of input features, and then the accuracy rate is 98.8%.

  • In this paper, we proposed an efficient blind watermarking algorithm using wavelet transform. The proposed algorithm inserts watermark into the high frequency subbands that were transformed by 1-level wavelet transform of original image. Watermark insertion is achieved by exchanging each the corresponding coefficients in the HL, LH, HH subbands according to be inserted watermark value. And watermark is extracted by the relation of wavelet coefficients without original image. Experimental results demonstrate that watermarked image has a good quality not to be able to be perceptible and is robust various attacks such as JEPG lossy compression, clipping and sharpening.

  • Digital Watermarking is a research area which aims at hiding secret information in digital multimedia content such as images, audio, and video. In this paper, we propose a new watermarking method with visually recognizable symbols into the digital images using wavelet transform, spread spectrum method and multilevel threshold value in considering the wavelet coefficients. The information of watermark can be extracted by subtracting wavelet coefficients with the original image and the watermarked image. The results of this experiment show that the proposed algorithm was superior to other similar watermarking algorithms. We showed Watermarking algorithm in JPEG lossy compression, resizing, LSB(Least Significant Bit) masking, and filtering.

  • In this paper, we designed a fuzzy system using the wavelet coefficients to detection the PVCs effectively and to increase the accuracy of decision of the arrhythmia. In the proposed Fuzzy system, the QRS complex of ECG signal is divided into 6th level frequence bands by wavelet transform using Haar wavelet. The MIT/BIH database for the source of input signal is used in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. From the simulation results, the decision of membership functions for PVCs and heart rates by using Fuzzy rules, we detected the abnormal values effectively by application of leaned from neural network and we also found results in classification ratio of 95% the decision of arrhythmia.
