화상회의를 위한 웨이브렛 변환 부호화 (Wavelet Transform Coding for Image Conference)

  • 본 논문은 화상회의를 위한 웨이브렛 변환 부호화에 관하여 연구한 것이다. 먼저, 원영상을 웨이브렛 변환계수의 대역별 특성을 이용하여 다차원의 계층적 피라미드 영상으로 구성하고. 이웃된 프레임 간의 움직임 정보를 구하였다. 그리고. 구해진 움직임 정보를 이용하여 기준 프레임 영상과 상관관계가 적은 프레임 영상에서는 화질을 보장하고, 상관관계가 많은 프레임 영상에서는 전체 동영상의 비트율을 보장하는 픽쳐 셋 필터를 제안하였다. 실험 결과 제안한 방법은 기존의 전영역 탐색 블럭 정합 알고리즘과 차영상 알고리즘에 비해 좋은 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 모폴로지에 의한 중요 클러스터 추출과 적응양자화를 이용한 웨이브릿 영상부호화 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 기존의 MRWD방법에서의 클러스터 전송시의 부가정보의 비중이 전체 데이터 비트에서 큰 것을 고려하여 모폴로지를 적용하여 중요클러스터를 추출하여 코딩의 효율을 개선하였고 MRWD 양자화기에서 생기는 불필요한 비교연산수를 줄이기 위해 적응 양자화기를 제안하여 양자화 시 발생하는 불필요한 비교연산을 줄일 수 있었다. 본 논문은 양질의 PSNR을 유지하면서 정보량을 줄일 수 있었다.

Hybrid 무손실 오디오 부호화기의 설계 (A Design of Hybrid Lossless Audio Coder)

  • 본 논문에서는 정수 웨이블릿 변환(Integer Wavelet Transform)과 선형 예측(Linear Prediction)을 이용한 Hybrid 무손실 오디오 부호화 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 부호화기는 입력된 신호를 적당한 프레임으로 분할 후, 정수 웨이블릿 변환과 정수 예측기를 사용하여 입력된 오디오 신호내의 상관관계(Correlation)를 제거하였다. 그리고 신호내의 상관이 제거된 신호를 엔트로피 부호화(Entropy Coding) 하였다. 엔트로피 부호화기로는 정수 입력원의 특성에 따라 최적의 압축 효율을 갖는 옵션을 선택적으로 처리하는 Adaptive Golomb-Rice 부호화기법을 이용하였다. 제안된 부호화 방식은 모든 연산을 정수 연산으로 가능케 하므로 기존의 실수를 사용하는 연산과 비교하여 연산 속도의 개선과 시스템의 복잡성을 낮추어 고속처리 및 저전력화가 가능하다. 또한 각 프레임은 독립적으로 부호화되고, 부호화된 데이터는 프레임헤더와 바이트 단위로 정렬이 되도록 데이터 포맷을 설계하여, 압축 부호화된 데이터의 이동, 찾기, 편집이 편리하도록 하였다.

  • In this paper, we present new scheme for image coding which efficiently use the relationship between the properties of spatial image and its wavelet transform. Firstly an original image is decomposed into several layers by the wavelet transform, and simultaneously decomposed into 2$\^$n/ ${\times}$ 2$\^$n/ blocks. Each block is classified into 3 regions according to their property, i.e., low activity region(LAR), midrange activity region(MAR), high activity region(HAR). Secondly we are applied texture modeling technique to LAR, MAR and HAR are encoded by Stack-Run coding technique. Finally our scheme Is superior to the Zerotree method in both reconstructed image Quality and transmitted bit rates.

  • Multiple Description Coding(MDC) is a technique used to obtain two or more (often correlated) descriptions of a source, which are transmitted over different channels to receiver. Two descriptions of the source support two levels of reconstruction quality. When all the descriptions are received and used in the reconstruction, the source should be reconstructed with acceptable quality. In this work, we consider Multiple Description Scalar Quantizer(MDSQ) to wavelet transform domain. Conventional MDSQ schemes in wavelet domain considered description with equal weights at each sub-bands after quantization. But each sub-bands is unequal contribution to whole image quality. Therefore, we experiment the multiple description with unequal weight in each sub-bands.

  • In this paper, we propose a structure far lossless audio coding method. Prediction model is used in the wavelet transform domain. After DWT, wavelet coefficients is quantized and decorrelated by prediction modeling. The DWT can be constructed to critical bands. We can get a lower data rate representation of audio signal which has a good quality like the result of perceptual coding. Then the prediction errors are efficiently coded by the Golomb-coding method. The prediction coefficients are fixed for reducing the computational burden when we find prediction coefficients.

웨이브렛 영역에서 VQ 인덱스들의 상관도를 이용한 영상 압축기법 (An Image coding Scheme Using The Correlation of VQ Indices In Wavelet Domain)

  • In this paper an image coding scheme using the correlation of neighboring VQ indices in wavelet domain is proposed. The codewords in each sub-codebook are reordered in ascending order according to their energy in order to inmcrease the dependency of the indices. And the relative dresses of the reordered indices are transmitted to a receiver instead of to absolute addresses. LBG algorithm is used for obtaining a multiresolution codebool and PNN using k-d tress used for generating its initial values. Our experimental results show that the proposed coding scheme outperforms JPEG and an ordinary wavelet-VQ method at low-bit rates in terms of PSNR.

  • In progressive image coding, if object region that have main contents in image are transmitted prior to the remained region, this method will be very useful. In this paper, the progressive image coding based on SPIHT using object region transmission method by priority is proposed. First, an original image is transformed by wavelet. Median filtering is used about wavelet transformed coefficient region for extracting object region. This extracted object region encoded by SPIHT. Then encoded object region are transmitted in advance of the remained region. This method is good to a conventional progressive image coding about entire original image. Experimental results show that the proposed method can be very effectively used for image coding applications such as internet retrieval and database searching system.

  • One of the most significant characteristics of JPEG 2000, the emerging still image standards, is the Region of Interest(ROI) coding. Until now, there have been many proposed ROI methods. However, all of these methods can not be applied completely in applications. In this paper, the ROI coding mechanisms in JPEG2000 is first outlined and the diversity of ROI coding methods is discussed in detail. Then a comparative selection about using a proper ROI method according to ROI applications' requirements is proposed. Finally the experimental results show that there are also several parameters that control the effectiveness of ROI coding, such as the codeblock size, ROI size, wavelet filter type, the number of wavelet decomposition levels, and ROI importance score.

Presentation-Oriented Key-Frames Coding Based on Fractals

  • This paper focuses on the problem of key-frames coding and proposes a new promising approach based on the use of fractals. The summary, made of a set of key-frames selected from a full-length video sequence, is coded by using a 3D fractal scheme. This allows the video presentation tool to expand the video sequence in a "natural" way by using the property of the fractals to reproduce the signal at several resolutions. This feature represents an important novelty of this work with respect to the alternative approaches, which mainly focus on the compression ratio without taking into account the presentation aspect of the video summary. In devising the coding scheme, we have taken care of the computational complexity inherent in fractal coding. Accordingly, the key-frames are first wavelet transformed, and the fractal coding is then applied to each subband to reduce the search range. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
