  • A scanned Fabry-Perot(F-P) filter and a Multi-Channel Wavelength Locker(MCWL) were used to interrogate fiber Bragg grating sensor array. When the F-P filter scans over the MCWL which works as a multi-reference the temporal peaks profiles correspond to the locking wavelengths. To solve the linearity, stability, and accuracy problems caused by the nonlinear response of F-P filter, a polynomial fitting algerian was used to calculate the relationship between the peak locations and the wavelengths in all the scanning range. Then from the reflected peaks locations and the best fitting line, the Bragg wavelengths can be obtained. The measurement linearity was greatly enhanced with wavelength resolution of about 4 pm in 10Hz scanning frequency.

  • 도시 Traditionally, dyes extracted from onion shells have been used as natural pigments but dyeing methods with reproducibility have not been developed. In this study, the dyes were analyzed by high performance thin layer chromatography(HPTLC) to obtain the ratio of pigments in water and ethyl acetate extract. Furthermore, the present study was also carried out to obtain the information characteristic of wavelength which proportionally decrease for continuous dyeing reaction. Scanning of water extract showed 4 peaks by the mobile phase of benzene/ethyl acetate/acetic acid(40/10/5) and the peak 1 exhibited yellow color with the maximal absorption spectra of 306nm and 309nm while ethyl acetate extract showed 9 peaks in the same mobile phase. The water extract after ethyl acetate extraction was adjusted to 0.5 of O.D.(optical density) at 550nm by adding of water and compared wavelength of the pigments from 200 to 600nm to find the proportional decrease of wavelength. As the result, it showed that wavelength of 306nm could be the standard of dyeing monitoring points.

  • We have proposed a metamaterial lens that enables sub-wavelength focusing, which is shorter than an operating wavelength. Our lens is a two dimensional array of a unit cell consisting of a metallic dual-plate printed on a dielectric substrate. The unique dual-plate structure provides negativeness both in permittivity and permeability, with no help from conventional additional structures, which are normally printed on the opposite of metallic patterns. Therefore, we can focus a source (or an image) in a tiny distance shorter than the free space wavelength (${\lambda}$) at the frequencies of interest. Furthermore, since the proposed geometry does not need separate supplementary structures to acquire negative permittivity or permeability, our lens is much simpler than conventional metamaterial lenses, which is a strong point in practical applications. We have validated sub-wavelength focusing ability in a 6 GHz frequency band through an experiment of near field scanning, which provided the width of about 0.19 ${\lambda}$ at a half maximum of a peak value of an measured image. The width of the focused image through the lens is more than 4 times shorter than that without the lens, which confirms the validity of our design approach.

  • This research focuses on the development of an interrogator that operates and measures fiber Bragg grating(FBG) multiplexing sensor probes for accurate-measurement of the blade deflection in a wind power generator. We designed and fabricated an optical source and spectrum module for the interrogator. Additionally, we verified the wavelength repeatability within 0.001 nm and the wavelength stability within 1 pm of the optical source, and we experimentally determined that the wavelength scanning range was about 44.4 nm. The FBG sensor with 2 nm resolution can be extended to a performance-efficient system that measures more than 20 sensors. The implemented interrogator has 0.141 nm wavelength variations corresponding to an ambient temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$. The measurement error can be easily reduced by employing a temperature compensation algorithm. In this study, we quantitatively confirmed the accuracy and operating stability of the interrogator.

  • A new pathlength deviation detection technique which is composed of michelson interferometer is described and verified experimentally. The technique uses a sub-threshold biased visible laser diode of 20$\mu$m coherence length as a low-coherent light source. And for zeroth-order fringe(which is the largest among fringes) identification we used a piezoelectric transducer with a large modulation smplitude, which enables without the need of constant velocity scanning, to distinguish reflection surfaces separated by more than 10$\mu$m with a resolution of less than half-wavelength.

  • We have controlled the graphene surface in two ways to improve the device performance of optoelectronics based on graphene transparent conductive films. We controlled multilayer graphene (MLG) work function and localized surface plasmon resonance wavelength using a silver nanoparticles formed on graphene surface. Graphene substrates were prepared using a chemical vapor deposition and transfer process. Various size of silver nanoparticles were prepared using a thermal evaporator and post annealing process on graphene surface. Silver nanoparticles were confirmed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Work functions of graphene surface with various sizes of Ag nanoparticles were measured using ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). The result shows that the work functions of MLG could be controlled from 4.39 eV to 4.55 eV by coating different amounts of silver nanoparticles while minimal changes in the sheet resistance and transmittance. Also the Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) wavelength was investigated according to various sizes of silver nanoparticles. LSPR wavelength was measured using the absorbance spectrum, and we confirmed that the resonance wavelength could be controlled from 396nm to 425nm according to the size of silver nanoparticles on graphene surface. To confirm improvement of the device performance, we fabricated the organic solar cell based on MLG electrode. The results show that the work function and plasmon resonance wavelength could be controlled to improve the performance of optoelectronics device.

  • We designed a wavelength interrogation-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor to detect avian influenza DNA (AI-DNA). Hybridization reactions between target AI-DNA probes and capture probes immobilized on a gold surface were monitored quantitatively by measuring the resonance wavelength in the visible waveband. The experimental results were consistent with numerical calculations. Although the SPR detection technique does not require the DNA to be labeled, we also evaluated fluorescently-labeled targets to verify the hybridization behavior of the AI-DNA. Changes in resonance were found to be linearly proportional to the amount of bound analyte. A wavelength interrogation-type SPR biosensor can be used for rapid measurement and high-throughput detection of highly pathogenic AI viruses.

  • Self-assembled silver nanoparticles were synthesized on a graphene film to investigate plasmonic effect. Graphene was synthesized on glass substrate using chemical vapor deposition method and transfer process. Silver nanoparticles were formed using thermal evaporator and post-annealing process. The shape of silver nanoparticles was measured using a scanning electron microscopy. The resonance wavelength of plasmonic effect on graphene-silver nanoparticles was measured using transmittance spectra. The plasmon resonance wavelength was increased from 400 nm to 424 nm according to the lateral dimension of silver nanoparticles. Also we confirmed a strong plasmon effect form Raman spectra, which were measured on graphene-silver nanoparticles. The result shows that plasmon resonance wavelength could be controlled by lateral dimension of silver nanoparticles, and transparent conductive films based on plasmonic graphene could be developed.
