In the early days of laser invention, it was simply used as a measuring tool, but as lasers became more common, they became an indispensable processing tool in the industry. Short-wavelength lasers are used to make patterns on wafers used in semiconductors depending on the wavelength, such as CO2 laser, YAG laser, green laser, and UV laser. At first, the hole of the PCB board mainly used for electronic parts was not thin and the hole size was large, so a mechanical drill was used. However, in order to realize product miniaturization and high integration, small hole processing lasers have become essential, and pattern exposure for small hole sizes has become essential. This paper intends to analyze the characteristics through patterns by exposing the PCB substrate through DMD and polygon scanner, which are different optical systems. Since the optical systems are different, the size of the patterns was made the same, and exposure was performed under the optimal conditions for each system. Pattern characteristics were analyzed through a 3D profiler. As a result of the analysis, there was no significant difference in line width between the two systems. However, it was confirmed that dmd had better pattern precision and polygon scanner had better productivity.
The SMT is a subsystem of the UFFO (Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory) pathfinder onboard the Lomonosov spacecraft planed to be launched in November 2011. The UFFO is designed for extremely fast observation of optical afterglow of Gamma Ray Burst (GRB). This study is primarily concerned with performance measurement of the SMT optical system under the integration and test phase. SMT is a 100mm Ritchey-Chretien type telescope with a motorized slewing mirror and a $256{\times}256$ pixels Intensified Charge-Coupled Device (ICCD) of 22.2${\mu}m$ in pixel size. SMT is designed to operate over the wavelength coverage between 200 nm and 650 nm. It has 17 arcmin FOV (Field of View), providing 4arcsec in detector pixel resolution. In this study, we describe the integration and test process of the SMT optical system and interim performance measurement results with motorized slewing mirror and ICCD.
Track irregularities of high-speed Maglev lines have significant influence on ride comfort. Their adjustment is of key importance in the daily maintenance of these lines. In this study, an adjustment method is proposed and track irregularities analysis is performed. This study considers two modules: an inspection module and a vehicle-guideway coupling vibration analysis module. In the inspection module, an inertial reference method is employed for field-measurements of the Shanghai high-speed Maglev demonstration line. Then, a partial filtering, integration method, resampling method, and designed elliptic filter are employed to analyze the detection data, which reveals the required track irregularities. In the analysis module, a vehicle-guideway interaction model and an electromagnetic interaction model were developed. The influence of the measured line irregularities is considered for the calculations of the electromagnetic force. Numerical integration method was employed for the calculations. Based on the actual field detection results and analysis using the numerical model, a threshold analysis method is developed. Several irregularities modalities with different girder end's deviations were considered in the simulations. The inspection results indicated that long-wavelength irregularities with larger girder end's deviations were the dominant irregularities. In addition, the threshold analysis of the girder end's deviation shows that irregularities that have a deviation amplitude larger than 6 mm and certain modalities (e.g., M- and N-shape) are unfavorable. These types of irregularities should be adjusted during the daily maintenance.
Transparent BNO thin films were grown on Al-doped ZnO (AZO)/Ag/AZO/polyethersulfon (PES) (abbreviated as AAAP) transparent electrodes at a low temperature by the NCD technique. The BNO films grown on the crystallized AZO/Ag/AZO (AAA) electrodes exhibit an amorphous phase with a root mean square (rms) roughness of approximately 2 nm in the range of deposition temperature. The capacitors (Pt/BNO/AAAP) with BNO films grown at $100^{\circ}C$ show a dielectric constant of 24 and dissipation factor of 8% at 100 kHz, a leakage current density of about $8{\times}10^{-6}A/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 1.0V. The optical transmittances of the BNO/AAAP exhibited above 80% at wavelength of 550nm at all of deposition temperature. The mechanical stability of the BNO/AAA as well as AAA electrode with the PES substrates through the bending was ensured for flexible electronic device applications. The transparent BNO capacitors grown on AAAP are powerful candidate for integration with the transparent solar cells.
Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has become a widely used method in food and beverage analysis because of its speed, accuracy and the simplicity of sample preparation. One of the basic requirements of NIR instruments is a wide dynamic range if weak, or small, absorption changes or concentrations are to be measured. Thus the instrument must be sufficiently luminous, and efficient, to enable measurements to be made in a reasonably short time, as for some applications (e.g. sorting) short response times are essential. Diode lasers function the same way as lasers but linewidths are not as narrow as typical lasers. In this work an array of seven laser diodes (in the range of 750-1100 nm) with energy outputs of around hundred milliwatts each were combined with a fast diode array spectrometer (400-1100 nm, 1024 pixels, integration time from 3 ms) as detector. Measurements in transmission mode were performed in solutions of sugars in aqueous solutions and in deuteriumoxide. The feasibility of non-destructive measurements in transmission mode was investigated for different fruits and vegetables.
Secondary instability of flow past a circular cylinder is examined using direct numerical simulation at Reynolds number 220 and 250. The higher-order finite difference scheme is employed for the spatial distributions along with the second order Adams-Bashforth and the first order backward-Euler time integration. In x-y plane, the convection term is applied by the 5th order upwind scheme, and the pressure and viscosity terms are applied by the 4th order central difference. In spanwise, Navier-Stokes equation is distributed using Spectral Method. The critical Reynolds number for this instability is found to be about Re=190. The secondary instability leads re three-dimensionality with a spanwise wavelength about 4 cylinder diameters at onset (A-mode). Results of three-dimensional effect in wake of a circular cylinder are represented with spanwise and streamwise vorticity contours as Reynolds numbers.
We have fabricated a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) hybrid-integrated optical sub-assembly of a triplexer using a thin film filter (TFF)-attached wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) and photodiode (PD) carriers. Two types of TFFs were attached to a diced side of a silica-terraced PLC platform, and the PD carriers with a $45^{\circ}$ mirror on which pin-PDs were bonded were assembled with the platform. A clear transmitter eye-pattern and minimum receiver sensitivity of -24.5 dBm were obtained under 1.25 Gb/s operation for digital applications, and a second-order inter-modulation distortion (IMD2) of -70 dBc was achieved for an analog receiver.
Three-dimensional time-dependent flow past a circular cylinder is numerically investigated using direct numerical simulation for Reynolds number 280 and 300. The higher-order finite difference scheme is employed for the spatial distributions along with the second order Adams-Bashforth and the first order backward-Euler time integration. In x-y plane, the convection term is applied by the 5th order upwind scheme and the pressure and viscosity terms are applied by the 4th order central difference. And in spanwise, Navier-Stokes equation is distributed using of Spectral Method. At Reynolds number 259 the two-dimensional wake becomes linearly unstable to a second branch of modes with wavelength about 1.0 diameters at onset (B-mode). Present results of three-dimensional effects of in wake of a circular cylinder is represented with spanwise and streamwise vorticity contours as Reynolds numbers.
Top-down processes based on photolithography technology have been developed by using light sources with short wavelength, however, the processes are expected to meet their limits in higher integration of semiconductor integrated circuits. To overcome the limits, researches on bottom-up processes have been proceeded. One of those, fabrication of nanodevices by using nanoparticles has been on research. But it is difficult to align nanoparticles at appropriate positions. To resolve this, studies has been proceeded to form nanowires by bonding DNA molecules which have self-assembly property and positive-charged functionalized gold nanoparticles. There are negative-charged phosphates in backbones of DNA molecules. By using the attractive force between the negative charge of the phosphates and the positive charge of gold nanoparticles, the Au-DNA nanowires are made. However, bonding Au nanoparticles only on DNA molecules, not other nanoparticles, is to be solved. So we studied to resolve this problem. In the formation of Au nanoparticles, we changed the charge of Au nanoparticles by adding HCl to control pH of the functionalized nanoparticles, measured zeta potential. Then we bonded the nanoparticles and DNA molecules and made observation by using FE-SEM and AFM.
