Effects of soil-structure interaction and variability of soil properties on seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures

  • Knowing that the variability of soil properties is an important source of uncertainty in geotechnical analyses, we will study in this paper the effect of this variability on the seismic response of a structure within the framework of Soil Structure Interaction (SSI). We use the proposed and developed model (N2-ISS, Mekki et al., 2014). This approach is based on an extension of the N2 method by determining the capacity curve of the fixed base system oscillating mainly in the first mode, then modified to obtain the capacity curve of the system on a flexible basis using the concept of the equivalent nonlinear oscillator. The properties of the soil that we are interested in this paper will be the shear wave velocity and the soil damping. These parameters will be modeled at first, as independent random fields, then, the two parameters will be correlated. The results obtained showed the importance of the use of random field in the study of SSI systems. The variability of soil damping and shear wave velocity introduces significant uncertainty not only in the evaluation of the damping of the soil-structure system but also in the estimation of the displacement of the structure and the base-shear force.

수신함수와 표면파 분산의 동시역산을 이용한 한반도 남부지역의 지각과 상부맨틀 연구 (The Crustal and Upper Mantle Velocity Structure of the Southern Korean Peninsula from Receiver Functions and Surface-Wave Dispersion)

  • 이 연구에서는 수신함수와 표면파 분산을 동시역산하는 방법을 통해 한반도 남부지역의 3-D S-파 속도모델을 구하였다. 10-150초 주기의 한반도 평균 레일리 위상속도 데이터와 $12.5{\times}12.5$ 격자의 레일리파 및 러브파 토모그래피 결과로부터 얻은 0.5-20 초 주기의 군속도 자료가 역산에 사용되었다. 수신함수는 95 개 관측소의 광대역(STS-2), 단주기(SS-1), 및 가속도(Episensor) 채널로부터 계산되었다. 한반도에 운영중인 조밀한 지진관측소 분포는 3-D 지각구조의 자세한 연구를 가능하게 한다. 역산 결과 한반도 남부 지역의 지각과 상부맨틀의 S-파 속도변화와 특성을 자세히 관찰할 수 있었다.

  • 대체로 황천 운행 시 선체와 파도의 상대적인 운동에 의하여 발생하는 파랑충격하중을 고려하여 선수 구조부를 설계하고 있다. 선수 구조부의 파랑충격현상은 대단히 복잡한 현상을 나타내고 있고 정확하게 규명하기 어렵기 때문에 경험적인 설계에 의존하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 첫 단계로서 동적 비선형 범용 프로그램 LS/DYNA3D를 이용하여 선수 구조부의 손상 자료로부터 역으로 파랑충격하중을 추정하고, 파랑충격압력 곡선의 극치, 지속시간, 후부높이, 극치발생시간 등과 같은 특징에 대한 파라메트 연구를 수행하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통하여 파랑충격하중에 대한 구조물의 동적 거동은 주로 충격압력역적에 의하여 영향을 받고, 또한 구조물에 최대 변형이 발생하기 이전에 가하여진 충격압력역적이 거동에 매우 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • This study looks over the relation between propeller and noise in ship stern structure. Near field noise and vibration measurements are compared with the analytical results using wave number method. To avoid singularity in wave number integration method, fast field method is introduced. Analytical results show that main transmission mechanism of high frequency noise is structure-borne type and that of low frequency noise is a air-borne type.

A comparative assessment of approximate methods to simulate second order roll motion of FPSOs

  • Ship shaped FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) units are the most commonly used floating production units to extract hydrocarbons from reservoirs under the seabed. These structures are usually much larger than general cargo ships and have their natural frequency outside the wave frequency range. This results in the response to first order wave forces acting on the hull to be negligible. However, second order difference frequency forces start to significantly impact the motions of the structure. When the difference frequency between wave components matches the roll natural frequency, the structure experiences a significant roll motion which is also termed as second order roll. This paper describes the theory and numerical implementation behind the calculation of second order forces and motions of any general floating structure subjected to waves. The numerical implementation is validated in zero speed case against the commercial code OrcaFlex. The paper also describes in detail the popular approximations used to simplify the computation of second order forces and provides a discussion on the limitations of each approximation.

  • 본 논문에서는 진행파를 이용하여 쌍방향으로 움직일 수 있는 새로운 구조의 초음파 리니어 모터를 개발하고, 그 시제품을 제작하였다. 설계과정에서는 유한요소해석법을 이용해 모터구조의 타당성을 검증하였고, 진행파가 왜곡되지 않는 최적구조, 재질, 크기, 경계조건을 결정하였다. 설계 결과에 따라 리니어 모터를 실제로 제작하고, 특성을 평가함으로써 개발된 새로운 구조의 이용 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • Surface wave scattering by periodic grooves of arbitrary profile in a grounded dielectric slab is investigated for the TE surface wave incidence. Both the finite and infinite periodic geometries are considered. The former case is analyzed by using of hybrid FEM/MOM and the latter by using of full MOM procedure. Some numerical results for the reflected and transmitted powers in a grounded dielectric slab, radiation power into the free space, and radiation patterns in case of finite structure and for the dispersion diagram in case of infinite structure are presented. And some descriptions on the relationship between the finite and infinite structure such as the maximum beam angle are given.

근접음장 음향 홀로그래피를 이용한 평판내의 속도분포 예측 (The reconstruction of Structure Velocity Field Using Nearfield Acoustic Holography)

  • Nearfield acoustic holography is known as a powerful tool to study sound radiation from a structure. In this work, the so called backward propagation of sound pressure field is studied to obtain the structure velocity distribution. The results, which were obtained using FFT algorithms, are presented for a finite plate excited at the frequencies above and below coincidence. These results illustrate the effect of stand-off distance and noise. An optimum cutoff frequency in wavenumber domain was suggested to reduce the effects of evanescent wave in the backward propagation. The experimental results were also included for a plate to demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested cutoff frequency. The optimum cutoff frequency to exclude the unwanted noise in the process of reconstruction of the velocity field gives the good results in both simulations and experiments.

아공정 CV흑연주철의 주물의 직경이 기지조직, 기계적성질 및 초음파전도속도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Diameter of Casting on the Matrix Structure, Mechanical Properties and Propagation of Ultrasonic Wave in Hypoeutectic CV Graphite Cast Iron)

  • The matrix structure and the morphology of CV graphite are affected by the addition of many kinds of elements, which are contained in the CV graphite cast iron, additives, fading time and cooling rate. The effects of cooling rate on the matrix structure, the shape of CV graphite, mechanical properties and propagation of ultrasonic wave in hypoeutectic CV graphite cast iron were studied. When the diameters of the samples are 50mm, 35mm and 20mm 1. CV graphite number showed average 17.9% increase and CV graphite length showed 10.3% decrease with decreasing diameter of the samples. 2. The amount of graphite and ferrite showed average 11.2, 4.1 % decrease and the amount of pearlite showed average 15.7% increase. 3. Hardness and tensile strength showed average 3.5%, 11.3% increase and impact strength showed average 1.5% decrease. 4. Ultrasonic wave velocity showed average 1.1% increase.
