XLPE/EnBA 블렌드의 전기 및 물리적 성질 (Electrical and Physical Properties of XLPE/EnBA Blends)

  • Electrical properties such as space charge accumulation and water tree length and physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation and degree of crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE)/ethylene n-butyl acrylate copolymer (EnBA) blends were investigated. It was found that electrical properties such as water tree length grown at a specific condition and AC breakdown strength are improved by blending the XLPE with EnBA. The EnBA having higher nBA content showed the better electrical properties in XLPE/EnBA blends. A further improvement of these properties was achieved when a small amount of crosslinking coagent was used in the preparation of XLPE/EnBA blends.

  • For many years, testing laboratories, research institutes and manufactures try to find a reliable water tree accelerated ageing test that is able to show whether a polymer Medium Voltage cable os susceptible to water treeing or not. Test on laboratory samples, model cable designs, and fell size cable are presented Apart form aging, another important aspect of any accelerated aging test is the right choice of th preconditioning method. This paper is the analysis of weibull distribution method after an accelerated aging test of MV(Medium Voltage) cable.

  • The cyclic aging for 14days is performed in order to remove the large amount of the volatiles contained in freshly manufactured cable. And the accelerated water treeing test(AWTT) is performed to accelerate the occurance of the water tree in the dielectric of XLPE. In this paper, we examined the AC breakdown voltage characteristics of the 22.9kV power cable before and after the cyclic aging for 14days and the AWTT. As the result, the AC breakdown voltage of the TR CNCV-W power cable is higher than that of CNCV-W and FR CNCO-W power cable.

  • This work is aimed to clarify the effect of only crosslinking of polyethylene on the water tree propagation and thus the crosslinking of LDPE was made by use of $Co^{60}$ $\gamma$-ray irradiation at room temperature. For this purpose, before water tree testing under same test conditions, injection molded samples were made of LDPE using CNRS laboratory model and also some of them were irradiated under different dose rate for crosslinking. Afterwards, the aged specimens were put into microscopic investigation as a mean to compare their different morphological aspects by use of SEM for the fractured surface. The SEM observation points out that the untreed region in the irradiated PE shows the densed structure whereas that in the LDPE is not closely packed. Also in the water treed region of LDPE, the density and the dimension of voids are higher than those in irradiated PE. Based on our results, it seems that the difference in the PE structure could sufficiently contribute to cause the different water tree propagation of these materials.

  • In order to investigate the effect of electrolyte solutions on the activities of bow-tie water trees in XLPE insulated power cable, we have tried to observe the characteristics on water treeing ( bow-tie type ) using several electrolyte solutions such as $CH_3COOH$, $MgCl_2$,HCl and NaCl solution and tap water. Bow-tie tree density in $CH_3COOH$ and $MgCl_2$ solution was higher than in any other solution, and the growth of tree was stimulated in NaCl and $CH_3COOH$ solution, and diffusion of bow-tie trees into insulation in $MgCl_2$, HCl and NaCl solutions was faster than in $CH_3COOH$ solution and water. Also, although the increase of applied voltage caused bow-tie tree density to be high, it didn't affect the growth of tree maximum length noticeably.

  • As LDPE, widely used as a insulating material of power cable, has defects of treeing and space charge accumulation, various methods to improve them have been suggested. It is difficult to understand the mechanism of electrical conduction according to the complexity of molecular structure and the changes of super-structure due to various environmental parameters. Therfore in this paper, four kinds of heat-treated LDPEs(origin, slow cooled, water cooled, quenched in $LN_2$) were used as specimens to help us understand the mechanisms and space charge distributions were investigated at 60[min] just after applying the field of 1[MV/cm] and 10[min] just after short-circuiting, using LIPP method.
