Underwater acoustic power should be measured in a free field, but it is not easy to implement. In practice, the measurement could be performed in a reverberant field such as a water-filled steel tank and concrete tank. In this case, the structure and the acoustic field are strongly or weakly coupled according to material properties of the steel and water. So, characteristics of the water tank must be investigated in order to get the accurate underwater acoustic power. In detail, modal frequencies, mode shapes of the structure and frequency response functions of the acoustic field could represent the characteristics of the reverberant water tank. In this paper, the structure-acoustic coupling has been investigated on a reverberant water tank numerically and experimentally. The finite element analysis has been carried out to estimate the structural and acoustical modal parameters under the dry and water-filled conditions, respectively. In order to investigate the structure-acoustic coupling effect, the numerical analysis has been performed according to the structure stiffness change of the water tank. The acoustic frequency response functions were compared with the numerical analysis and acoustic exciting test. From the results, the structural modal frequencies of the water-filled condition have been decreased compared to those of the dry condition in the low frequency range. The acoustic frequency response functions under the coupled boundary conditions showed different patterns from those under the ideal boundary conditions such as the pressure release and rigid boundary condition, respectively.
This paper dealt with thermal storage efficiency due to difference ($T_{\infty}-Ti$) between the mean temperature of water in the storage tank [$0.5m{\times}0.5m{\times}1.0m$] and the temperature of water flowing into the tank, flow rate of water flowing into the tank and shape of porous manifold which water flow into the tank through. As results of experiments; (1) When the flow rate was constant and the diameter of porous section decreased by 8mm, 6mm, and 4mm, the thermal storage efficiency increased. (2) When the diameter of porous section was constant and the difference ($T_{\infty}-Ti$) between the mean temperature of water in the storage tank and the temperature of water flowing into the tank increased by -30, -20, -10, 5, 10, 15 ($^{\circ}C$), the thermal storage efficiency increased. (3) When the($T_{\infty}-Ti$) was constant and the flow rate decreased by 0.8, 0.4, 0.25(LPM), the thermal storage efficiency increased. (4) When the shape of porous section was rigid, the thermal storage efficiency was the most effective, and with establishing flexible porous section or mesh, the effective thermal storage efficiency was obtained.
This study has been prepared for the purpose of developing the system performance prediction method of natural circulation solar hot water system. The storage tank of the natural circulation solar hot water system equipped with flat-plate solar collector is located at higher elevation than the solar collectors. Therefor, the storage tank temperature distribution formed accordance with configuration of storage tank by flow rate of circulating fluid affect system collection efficiency. In this study measure the storage tank temperature distribution with various experimental system under real sun condition and present the theoretical prediction method of the storage tank temperature. Moreover measure the flow rate not only day-time but also night-time reverse flow rate with die injection visual flow meter. Main conclusion obtain from the present study is as follows; 1) The storage tank temperature distribution above the connecting pipe connection position is the same as that of the fully mixed tank and below the connection position is the same as that of stratified tank. 2) The system performance sensitive to the storage tank temperature distribution. Therefore detailed tank model is necessary. Average storage tank temperature can be calculate 3% and storage tank temperature profile can get less than 10% difference with this model system.

The purpose of this study was to observe the effect on the marine environment by the use of Nano-S. Nano-S was made to apply to improve the red tide bloom. The experiment was performed at round tank with volume of 180 L. Each tank was filled with an aggravated sediment about $14{\pm}1cm$ hight and sea water. The water flow-rate of tank was established on the rate of 6.25 L/hr. Sea water level was fitted to 40 cm, therefore the filled water was about 150 L. The sediment was stabilized during one week. Then the Nano-S and the red mud were added into each tank 0 kg(control), 1 kg(tank A), 2 kg(tank B), 5 kg(tank C) and 10 kg(tank D) each other. The quantity was fulfilled with 0 kg(control), 2.75 kg(tank A), 5.51 kg(tank B), 13.77 kg(tank C) and 27.55 kg(tank D) per square meter of sediment. The experiment was performed during 30 days. Water and sediment samples were collected from each tanks on the before 1hour and after 1, 3, 6, 12 hour and 1st, 3th, 5th, 7th, 10th, 15th, 30th day of the experiment period. The change of water and sediment quality was analyzed before and after applying the Nano-S and the red mud.
Surge tank generally are used near the downstream end of tunnels of penstocks to reduce change in pressure caused by waterhammer resulting from load changes on the turbines. In this paper, the surge tank with chamber is selected to analyze water surface oscillation. the governing equation are derived using the law of conservation of mass and momentum. the water surface oscillation in the surge tank are computed using governing equation. In the case of upsurging, water surface oscillation is damped gradually and in the case of downsurging, it is damped rapidly.

We have been noticing the unstable phenomena of measured data which may give a bad influence on the prediction of powering performance characteristics. In this paper, ununiformity of water temperature according to the water depth in towing tank, variation of water temperature between summer and winter, effect of turbulence stimulator and double line phenomena in the resistance test are investigated. And circulating the tank water, heating the towing tank, degassing the tank water and improving the turbulence stimulator are proposed as it's solutions.
Ecological society and energy conservative systems has become a subject of world wide attention. To examine the technologies of such systems as resource recycling society, this study is proposed for using rainwater as energy source and water resources in urban area. Useful informations for planning of utilizing rainfall as energy source, water resources, emergency water and controlling flood are discussed with model systems in urban area. It is calculated that the rate of utilizing rainwater, amounts of utilizing rainwater, substitution rate of supply water, amounts of overflow rainwater according to rain storage tank volume. By applying the past weather data, The optimum volume of rain water storage was calculated as 200m$^3$ which mean no benefits according to the increase of storage tank volumes. For optimum planing and control method at the model system, several running method of rainwater storage tank was calculated. The optimum operating method was the using weather data as 3hours weather forecast.
An experimental study is performed on reducing the pollutants supplied by storm water through enhancing efficiency of SS from the detention storage tank where CSOs are kept temporarily before discharge to the receiving water system. SS removal efficiency is investigated in accordance with various conditions of the detention pond-such as its length, the existence of training wall, and the use of gravel filling. The removal efficiency is strongly affected by the detention pond's length until the critical falling distance of the suspended solids is reached. For cases where the tank has a length longer than this critical condition, the removal rate shows less sensitivity. To enhance the SS removal efficiency of tanks of shorter than the critical length, we studied alternative types of tank in which inside training walls are installed. The results showed improvement of 14 to 37% in removal efficiency in 2hours detention(2 training walls). The important factor in achieving a high SS removal rate is ensuring the critical length of the detention pond, but for the cases where the basin length cannot be guaranteed, baffles or a gravel filling scheme may be introduced to attain considerable efficiency. The results of studying and comparing different storage tank conditions show that, in terms of elimination efficiency, a storage tank with gravel filling and training walls > a storage tank with gravel filling > a storage tank with training walls > an empty tank. The experimental results should contribute to development of related further research, by empirically verifying the already assumed importance of critical falling distance, training walls, and gravel filling schemes.
The shield building of AP1000 was designed to protect the steel containment vessel of the nuclear reactor. Therefore, the safety and integrity must be ensured during the plant life in any conditions such as an earthquake. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of water in the water tank on the response of the AP1000 shield building when subjected to three-dimensional seismic ground acceleration. The smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) and finite element method (FEM) coupling method is used to numerically simulate the fluid and structure interaction (FSI) between water in the water tank and the AP1000 shield building. Then the grid convergence of FEM and SPH for the AP1000 shield building is analyzed. Next the modal analysis of the AP1000 shield building with various water levels (WLs) in the water tank is taken. Meanwhile, the pressure due to sloshing and oscillation of the water in the gravity drain water tank is studied. The influences of the height of water in the water tank on the time history of acceleration of the AP1000 shield building are discussed, as well as the distributions of amplification, acceleration, displacement, and stresses of the AP1000 shield building. Research on the relationship between the WLs in the water tank and the response spectrums of the structure are also taken. The results show that the high WL in the water tank can limit the vibration of the AP1000 shield building and can more efficiently dissipate the kinetic energy of the AP1000 shield building by fluid-structure interaction.
The reservoir tank in an apartment is crucial for maintaining the quality of drinking water after it has undergone treatment. Investigating the water quality and potential contaminants in the reservoir tank is essential to ensure the safety of the drinking water. This study examined the water quality and precipitated suspended solids that accumulate at the bottom of the reservoir tanks in four apartments located in Gyeonggi province. As a result of the water quality investigation, turbidity increased proportionally to the distance from the water treatment plant (WTP) to the household. Heavy metals were also detected in the reservoir tank inlet but not in the water supplied from the WTP. The precipitated suspended solids (SS) in the reservoir tank contain high levels of heavy metals and total organic carbon (TOC). The precipitated SS mainly consists of Al, Mn, and Fe, which are expected to be a combination with turbidity-inducing substances. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed the presence of γ-FeO(OH), MnO2, and β-Fe2O3 in the SS. Additionally, F-EEM analysis indicates that the dissolved organic matter in the SS is mainly derived from a natural water source and microorganism activities, including metal-oxidizing bacteria and biofilms that can absorb metal ions. Based on these findings, several countermeasures can be taken to prevent the inflow of SS into the household, including regularly cleaning the reservoir tank, replacing or cleaning old pipes in the water supply system, and implementing monitoring and filtering systems to manage the SS.
