하계 진해만 광역조사 - 식물플랑크톤 군집구조의 단기변화와 수평적 분포특성 - (The Study of Summer Season in Jinhae Bay - Short-term Changes of Community Structure and Horizontal Distribution Characteristics of Phytoplankton -)

  • 진해만 광역해역에서 하계 식물플랑크톤의 수평적 군집 구조를 파악하기 위해서 16개 정점에서 식물플랑크톤 개체수 밀도와 환경요인을 조사하였다. 식물플랑크톤은 총 66종이 출현하였고, 전체의 80% 이상이 규조류의 점유율을 보였고, 다음으로 와편모조류와 라피도조류순으로 관찰되었다. 규조류의 우점종은 Chaetoceros affinis, C. didymus, C. pseudocurvisetus, Leptocylindrus danicus, Pseudo-nitzchia pungens, Skeletonema costatum으로 나타났고, 와편모조류는 Cochlodinium polykrikoides, Gymnodinium impudicum, Karenia mikimotoi, Prorocentrium minimum, Protoperidium bipes, Scrippsiella trochoidea로 관찰되었다. 각 정점별 식물플랑크톤의 군집구조를 바탕으로 한 MDS와 Cluster 분석에서 하계 진해만 광역해역은 크게 2그룹으로 나누어졌다. 제1그룹은 마산만 내측 정점으로 담수기원으로 높은 영양염 농도와 낮은 염분농도의 영향을 강하게 받은 곳이다. 제2그룹은 나머지 다른 외측 정점으로 구분되었다. 정준대응을 근거로 한 분석(CCA)에서도 만 내측에 우점 출현한 크기가 작은 와편모조류 K. mikimotoi, P. minimum, P. bipes, S. trochoidea와 중심목 규조류 S. costatum, C. pseudocurvisetus는 DIN (암모니윰, 질산염, 아질산염)과 상관관계를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 본 해역에서 만 내측과 외측의 정점으로 식물 플랑크톤의 군집조성이 확연히 구분되고 있고, 특히 만내측에서 높은 Chl.a농도와 더불어 식물플랑크톤의 현존량이 높게 나타나고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 결과적으로 내만의 얇은 수심에서 하계 식물플랑크톤의 대증식을 유발할 수 있었던 것은 높은 질소기원의 영양염과 수온에 의한 영향으로 사료된다.

개질유황 폴리머를 사용한 콘크리트의 내구성 평가 (Durability of concrete using sulfur-modified polymer)

  • 황의 대부분은 천연가스와 원유를 탈황시켜 얻게 되며, 국내 정유 플랜트에서는 120만톤 이상 발생하고 있으며, 50 % 정도만이 비료 및 황산등을 만드는 원료로 소모되고 있다. 이에 산업부산물로 얻어지는 황을 콘크리트에 적용하기 위해 개질유황이 제조되고 있어, 이를 활용한 콘크리트의 강도 및 내구성을 평가하였다. OPC에 비해 개질유황 폴리머를 사용할 경우 압축 및 휨강도는 동일 배합수 온도에서는 유사하였으며, 배합수 온도가 증가함에 따라 강도는 다소 증가하였다. 또한 동결융해에 따른 저항성은 개질유황 폴리머의 영향보다는 공기연행제의 사용으로 제어가 됨을 확인하였다. 그리고 5 % 황산 침지에 따른 압축강도 저하율은 개질유황 폴리머를 사용한 콘크리트가 OPC보다 4배 이상 우수하였다. 그리고 제빙염에 대한 표면박리 저항성도 개질유황을 사용한 경우는 표면박리가 발생되지 않은 1등급, OPC의 경우는 골재가 노출되어 4등급으로 평가되었다. 따라서 개질유황 폴리머를 콘크리트에 개질제로 사용할 경우 내구특성이 우수하여 교면포장 등에 효율적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of DOGO phreatic water containing sulphur on Atopic Dermatitis in NC/Nga mouse. Methods : We made DOGO phreatic water removed sulphur using Twin Alternating Sulfate Eater. After making atopic dermatitis caused by sensitizing NC/Nga mouse to DNCB(dinitrochlorobenzene), we made mouse swim in tanks each filled with distilled water, tap water, DOGO phreatic water(contain sulphur), DOGO phreatic water(remove sulphur) for 30minutes everyday. 3weeks later, we analyzed skin clinical score, total IgE levels(by ELISA), WBC differential counting(Neutrophils, Monocytes), absolute cell number of $Neutrophil^+Gr-1^+$, CCR3 mRNA expressions(by Real-time PCR), IL-4, IFN-${\gamma}$ production levels(by ELISA), histologic test(by H&E staining, toluidine blue staining). Results : The results of making NC/Nga mouse induced atopic dermatitis swim in tanks filled with DOGO phreatic water(contain sulphur) are as follows. 1. Skin clinical scores were decreased significantly in comparison to control group. 2. Total IgG levels were decreased significantly in comparison to control group. 3. WBC differential counting(Neutrophils, Monocytes) were decreased significantly in c.mparison to control group. 4. Absolute cell number of $Neutrophil^+Gr-1^+$ were decreased significantly in comparison to control group. 5. CCR3 mRNA expressions were decreased significantly in comparison to control group. 6. IL-4, IFN-${\gamma}$ production levels were decreased significantly in comparison to control group. 7. The epithelial tissue thickness, leucocytes infiltration, erythema, edema, excoriation, scaling, mast cells infiltrations in dorsal skin were decreased in comparison to control group. Conclusions : These results indicate that DOGO phreatic water(contain sulphur) can be used for helping treat atopic dermatitis.

강원도 철원 샘통과 주변 지표수 및 지하수의 수리화학 및 미생물 군집 특성 연구 (Hydrochemical and Microbial Community Characteristics of Spring, Surface Water and Groundwater at Samtong in Cheorwon, South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 철원 샘통과 그 일대의 지하수 및 지표수의 지구화학 및 미생물 군집 특성을 분석하였다. 2022년 12월 15일 철원 샘통 5개, 지하수 3개 그리고 지표수 2개, 총 10개 지점에서 야외조사를 수행하였다. 수화학분석 결과 샘통과 지표수는 모두 Ca-HCO3 유형에 도시되었으며, 지하수 한 지점(CSG3)을 제외한 나머지 지점은 모두 Na-HCO3 유형에 도시되었다. 또한 모든 지점은 같은 기상수의 기원으로 물암석 반응이 우세하게 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 라돈 농도 분석 결과 지표수는 1,000 Bq/m3 이하, 샘통은 1,000~10,000 Bq/m3, 지하수는 1,000~1,000,000 Bq/m3의 농도 값을 보였다. 미생물 군집 구조 분석 결과 문(phylum) 비율 중 가장 우점종은 Proteobacteria, Planctomyceta, Verrucomicrobia, Acidobacteria, Actinomycetota 순으로 나타났다. 비계량적 다차원 척도법 모델링(NMDS)에서는 수온, pH, Si가 현장의 토착미생물과 밀접한 연관성을 보였다. NMDS와 CCA 결과에서 샘통에 영향을 미치는 주요 환경적 요소는 온도, Mg, Si로 나타나며, 그 환경적인 영향과 관련된 주요 미생물은 Acidobacteria와 Proteobacteria 중 Pseudomonas brenneri이다. 수화학 및 미생물 군집 분석 모두 샘통과 지하수 CSG3 지점에서 유사한 결과를 보였으며, 현무암 대수층의 영향을 받은 것으로 추정된다.

방출된 노심용융 물질에 의한 콘크리트 침식 천이 모의 (Transient Simulations of Concrete Ablation due to a Release of Molten Core Material)

  • If a molten core is released from a reactor vessel into a reactor cavity during a severe accident, an important safety issue of coolability of the molten core from top-flooding and concrete ablation due to a molten core concrete interaction (MCCI) is still unresolved. The released molten core debris would attack the concrete wall and basemat of the reactor cavity, which will lead to inevitable concrete decompositions and possible radiological releases. In a OECD/MCCI project scheduled for 4 years from 2002. 1 to 2005. 12, a series of tests were performed to secure the data for cooling the molten core spread out at the reactor cavity and for the 2-D long-term core concrete interaction (CCI). The tests included not only separate effect tests such as a melt eruption, water ingression, and crust failure tests with a prototypic material but also 2-D CCI tests with a prototypic material under dry and flooded cavity conditions. The paper deals with the transient simulations on the CCI-2 test by using a severe accident analysis code, CORQUENCH, which was developed at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). Similar simulations had been already per for me d by using MELCOR 1.8.5 code. Unlike the MELCOR 1.8.5, the CORQUENCH includes a melt eruption mode I and a newly developed water ingression model based on the water ingression tests under the OECD/MCCI project. In order to adjust the geometrical differences between the CCI-2 test (rectangular geometry) and the simulations (cylindrical geometry), the same scaling methodology as used in the MELCOR simulation was applied. For the direct comparison of the simulation results, the same inputs for the MELCOR simulation were used. The simulation results were compared with the previous results by using MELCOR 1.8.5.

New High Recovery Membrane Modules for Desalination

  • Desalination by reverse osmosis (RO), which first entered commercial use in the 1970s, was initially mainly used for treating brackish water. Technological progress led to the development of an RO membrane enabling single-pass seawater desalination. Toyobo succeeded in developing a single-pass seawater desalination RO module composed of hollow fiber type membranes made of cellulose triacetate in 1978, and then in 1979 began production of the first commercially available double-element module. This double-element module has many advantages suitable for seawater desalination. It has high chlorine tolerance and high salt rejection, derived from the properties of the membrane material, and it is highly resistant to fouling and scaling matters due to the unique flow pattern and fiber bundle configuration. These advantages help to explain why the Toyobo double-element module has been used so successfully at the many seawater desalination plants around the world. Since the 1980s, large plants capable of desalinating several tens of thousands of cubic meters a day have sprung up around the Mediterranean and In the Middle East. The Jeddah RO Phase I Plant, which has a capacity of 56, 800m$^3$/day, went into operation in 1989. In 1994, the same sized Phase II Plant came on stream, giving the plant a huge total capacity of 113, 600m$^3$/day. The plant constructor Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), and the RO membrane manufacturer Toyobo Co., Ltd. In 1998, the world's largest RO seawater desalination plant in operation, which has a capacity of 128, 000m$^3$/day and is run by Saudi Arabia's Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), went into operation at Yanbu. RO seawater desalination technology has thus already reached the stage of full-scale commercial use. In order to encourage its wider use, however, RO desalination needs to be made more economical by lowering construction and water treatment costs. Toyobo has therefore developed a new economical RO desalination system by a recovery ratio of 60% using a high-pressure module with a high product flow rate. In 2000, Toyobo high recovery membrane module was selected for the largest seawater desalination plant in Japan, which has a capacity of 50, 000m$^3$/day.

FPSO 안정성 평가를 위한 절단계류선 모델링 수치 연구 (Numerical Study on Designing Truncated Mooring Lines for FPSO Stability Analysis)

  • In this paper, a numerical analysis for an internal turret moored vessel located at a 400-m water depth is conducted. The target vessel has an internal turret that is located at the 0.2 Lpp position from the fore-side, with $3{\times}4$ complex mooring lines installed around the turret circumference. To investigate the motion response of the vessel and the structural reliability of the lines, model tests were conducted. The KRISO ocean basin has a water depth of 3.2 m, which represents 192m using a scaling of 1:60. In order to precisely represent the real-scale condition, equivalent mooring lines needed to be designed. Truncated mooring lines were designed to supplement the restriction of the flume's water depth and increase the reliability of the model testing. These truncated mooring lines were composed of two different chains in order to match the pre-tension, simultaneously restoring the curve and variation in the effective line tension. The static similarities were compared using a static pull-out test and free decaying test, and the dynamic similarities were matched via a regular wave test and combined environments test. Consequently, the designed truncated mooring system could represent the prototype mooring system relatively well in the aspects of kinematics and dynamics.

2008년 3월 시화방조제 내측과 외측해역에서 저서다모류 군집구조 (Polychaete Community Structure from Inshore and Offshore of Lake Shihwa (Korea) in March, 2008)

  • Polychaete community structure and its spatial distribution was investigated in 2008 from inshore and offshore of Lake Shihwa, Korea, in order to evaluate status of the benthic environment according to construction of the dike and the water gate. In the present study, the number of species, density, and diversity of polychaete community in inshore was significantly different from those in offshore. The density of polychaete community in offshore increased with the number of species whereas the diversity in inshore increased with the number of species. Dominant species in offshore were 13 species, higher than 1% of the total polychaete individuals. Heteromastus filiformis, known as the most dominant species before the construction of the dike, was the most dominant species in offshore, which collectively account for 54% of the total polychaete individuals. In inshore, the seven species were dominant, higher than 1% of the total individuals. Lumbrineris longifolia, Polydora sp., Capitella capitata, Pseudopolydora paucibranchiata, known as pollution tolerant species, contributed to higher than 75% of the total individuals in inshore. Multivariate statistical analyses, non-metric multidimensional scaling, showed apparent difference in polychaete community structure between inshore and offshore, and also difference between inner sites and outer sites of inshore around the water gate. Sediment characteristics (total organic carbon and nitrogen, ignition loss, and acid volatile sulfide) measured in this study also supported to this result. Therefore, this indicates that the offshore provides better benthic environments for polychaete habitation than the inshore, and the inshore around the water gate shows improving benthic environment, compared to the inner inshore.

선박 프로펠러 표면의 생물부착물이 프로펠러 유체역학적 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hydrodynamic Effect of Biofouling on Marine Propeller)

  • 프로펠러 표면의 생물 부착이 프로펠러 성능에 상당한 영향을 미치지만 프로펠러 표면 거칠기와 관련된 연구는 상대적으로 선체 표면에 비하여 많지 않다. 본 연구에서는 Schultz(2007)가 발표한 Granville's similarity-law scaling 절차에 기초하여 실선 7 m 크기의 탱커 프로펠러에 표면 부착물 상태가 서로 다른 3가지 경우를 고려하여 프로펠러 단독 효율의 감소의 변화를 Lifting surface code를 사용하여 수치적 계산을 수행하여 효율을 비교하였다. 본 논문에서의 결과는 표면 거칠기가 큰 석회질 부착물($k_s=0.001$)은 선박 설계 속도(J=0.5)에서 최대 15 %의 프로펠러 효율 감소를 보였음을 확인하였으며 이는 선박 운항 시 생물 부착에 의한 효율 감소에 대한 평가가 고려되어야 한다는 점을 나타내고 있다.
