Objectives: This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of Yijin-tang and GamiYijin-tang on the gastrointestinal functions of rats Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were used as experimental animals, and were administered Yijin-tang (Sample I group, 47.5 mg/ml) and GamiYijin-tang(Sample II group, 38.37 mg/ml, Sample ill group, 85.3 mg/ml) water extract once a day. Changes of gastric juice volume and intestinal mobility index were measured. The effects on colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium in the rats were also observed. Results: 1. Gastric juice volume was decreased significantly in the sample I group (P<0.05) compared to the control group; there was not significant effect in the sample II and sample III groups. 2. The moving distance of carbon bolus was increased significantly in the sample n (p<0.05) and sample II (p<0.05) groups compared to the control group; there was not significant effect in the sample I group. 3. The intestinal mobility index was increased significantly only in the sample II group (P<0.05) compared to the control group. 4. The feces consistency was increased significantly on the 3rd and 5th day of the sample I group (P<0.05), on 3rd, 4th, and 5th day of the sample II (p<0.05) and the sample III (p<0.05) groups compared to the control group. 5. The feces property index was increased significantly only on the 5th day of the sample III group (p<0.05) compared to the control group. 6. The number of WBC and RBC, levels of hemoglobin and hematocrit were not changed in all sample groups compared to the control group. 7. The number of the type B Goblet cells were increased significantly in the sample II (p<0.05) and the sample III (P<0.05) groups, but the number of the type C Goblet cells were decreased significantly only in the sample ill group (P<0.05) compared to the control group. Conclusions: According to the above results, GamiYijin-tang compared to the Yijin-tang were decreased hight significantly in gastrointestinal mucose and histological antidiarrheal function with protection of the goblet cell more excellently were observed.
The objective of this study was to access the effects of sensory and physical properties of Beandaeduk on 7 different combination methods (three were combined with mung bean and different proportions of water; four were combined with mung bean and various cereals with constant water), and 3 storage periods (0, 1 and 3 weeks at $-18^{\circ}C$). This experiment was consisted of sensory evaluation I (appearance, texture, taste, flavor and overall preference), II (color, moisture, volume, hardness, elasticity, viscosity and ratio materials, off-flavor and oder) and physical analysis of each sample, and questionaire survey of Beandaeduk. In sensory evaluation I except flavor, significant differences (p<0.05) were found among different combination methods of sample. Also significant differences (p<0.05) were found in sample for storage periods, except appearance. In sensory evaluation II, only moisture and oder of samples were significantly different (p<0.05) for storage periods, and there were significant differences (p<0.05) in samples among different combination methods, except elasicity. Stepwise regression for storage periods in sensory I showed that texture and taste were important factors in overall preference of sample. In the questionaire survey, preference and adding materials of Beandaeduk were different according to province. Half of respondents preferred to get instant Beandaeduk and instant mung bean powder.
This study was conducted to find out the effect of Bojungikgitanggamibang(BIT) on growth, learning and memory of rats. The effects of BIT on learning and memory performance were examined in normal or memory impaired mice by using water maze task. Memory was impaired by 192 saporin. Body weight and growth of bone and tail of sample group were not significant compared with those of control groups. Acquisition test of water maze revealed that acqusitive ability of sample group significantly improved on 4,5th day compared with control group, while retentive ability of sample group was not significant. ChAT cell numbers of medial septum of sample group was significant compared with control group, and so was those of CA1, CA2 parts of hippocampus. On ChAT cell numbers of hippocampus, in CA2 part. These results suggest that BIT has an improving effect on the impaired learning through the effects on memory registration and retrieval.
A sensitive technique for the determination of trace Cu(II) in various samples after the column preconcentration by adsorbing its N-benzoylphenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) onto benzophenone was developed. Several experimental conditions such as the pH of the sample solution, the amount of chelating agent, the amount of benzophenone, and the flowrate of sample solution and so forth were optimized. The interfering effects of diverse concomitant ions were investigated. Fe(III) and $CN^-$ interfered with more seriously than any other ions. However, the interference by these ions could be overcome sufficiently by adjusting the added volume of 0.01M BPHA to 10 mL. The dynamic range, the correlation coefficient ($r^2$) and the detection limit obtained by this proposed technique were 5.0~120 ng/mL, 0.9974, and 2.1 ng/mL, respectively. For validating this proposed technique, the aqueous samples (stream water, reservoir water, and wastewater), the plastic sample and the diluted brass sample were used. Recovery yields of 93~102% were obtained. These measured data were not different from ICP-MS data at 95% confidence level. This method was also validated by the rice flour CRM (normal, fortified) samples. Based on the results from the experiment, it was found that this proposed technique could be applied to the determination of Cu(II) in various real samples.
A highly sensitive analytical method based on stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) technique and gas chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (GC/MS-MS) has been developed, allowing the simultaneous multi-analyte determination of seven UV filters in water samples. The stir bar coated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was added to 40 mL of water sample at pH 3 and stirred at 1,100 rpm for 120 min. Other SBSE parameters (salt effect and presence of organic solvent) were optimised. The method shows good linearity (coefficients > 0.990) and reproducibility (RSD < 12.9%). The extraction efficiencies were above 84% for all the compounds. The limits of detections (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) were 2.1~8.6 ng/L and 6.8~27.5 ng/L, respectively. The developed method offers the ability to detect 8 UV filters at ultra-low concentration levels with only 40 mL of sample volume. Matrix effects in tap water, river water, wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) final effluent water and seawater were investigated and it was shown that the method is suitable for the analysis of trace level of 7 UV filters except of benzophenone (BP). The method developed in the present study has the advantage of being rapid, simple, high-sensitive and both user and environmentally friendly.
In this study, the polyurethane resin was synthesized by applying PTMG and DMBA of different composition ratios for the synthesis of water-dispersible polyurethane used in wound coating resin. The varying properties of the synthesized water-dispersible polyurethane were measured through tensile strength, elongation, and abrasion resistance analysis. As for the tensile strength measurement result according to the PTMG content, the sample with the highest reaction molar ratio was measured as 1.08 kgf/mm2 and the elongation was measured as 520%. As for the tensile strength result according to the DMBA content, the sample with the highest reaction molar ratio was measured as 0.51 kgf/mm2, and the elongation was measured as 435%. The degree of surface destruction by the abrasion resistance measurement was visually confirmed through SEM.
This study was carried out to comparison of the contents of general and mineral components between the original sample and water extract in each part of omija. The content of Carbohydrate was highest in endocarps, and that the crude protein and crude lipid in seeds. The contents of K and Mn in the fruits, endocarps, and seeds were all higher than those of the other cations. The content of K and Zn in endocarps were three to four times as much as those of seeds. and the content of Na, Ca, and Cu in endocarps were 1.5 to 1.75 times of seeds. Mineral contents by water extract in each part were ordered as K, Mg, Ca, and Fe. As the percentage of each ion in water extract on the basis of original sample, Fe was the highest ratio of behavior, and Mn was lowest.
For bioassay of the various extracts of ginseng, the growth determination method using Saccharomyces cerevisiae which was cultured with various doses of the extracts, was studied The water extract, Powder. and ethanol extract were more effective (about 45∼ 110% increase) than saponins or its fractions (about 20∼35% increase). The cold methanol residue showed a increase effect but it was not significant. The bioassay curves for the water extract, ethanol extract, the butanol extracted saponins and the cold methanol- residue were made from the experimental data. From these curves it is possible to find the relation between dose and effectiveness and the optimal doses of various ginseng extracts, and the amount of extract in a sample can be estimated The .angers of sample amount were 0.01% (100ppm) ∼0.32% (3200ppm) fo. the water extract, 0.025% (150ppm)∼0.1% (1000ppm) for the ethanol extract, and 0.008% (80ppm)∼0.016% (160ppm) for the saponins. It was impossible to determine the range for the cold methanol- residue, The acceleration effects on the cell proliferation by a only 0.0008% (8ppm) of the diol- and triol-saponin were measurable in earlier Period (24 hour treatment).
