It is generally known that submerged breakwaters can reduce the incoming wave energy without disturbing the beach scenery. However, a submerged breakwater is also able to cause a setup of the sea level in the protected area which is also called as water piling-up. Since the piling-up can result in longshore currents, sediment transports, and unexpected beach erosion, understanding about the piling-up process is required prior to designing the nearshore structures. In this study, the water piling-up behind a submerged breakwater is assessed in the time of storm events. For the study area, Anmok beach in Gyeonso-dong, Gangwon-do is selected. 1-year, 5-year, 10-year, and 50-year return-values were derived from Peaks-Over-Threshold(POT) method and those are applied as offshore boundary conditions for the numerical simulation. The numerical results of the piling-up were assessed with regard to the wave steepness and the height of the submerged breakwater. With increase of both significant wave height and the height of the submerged breakwater, the piling-up parameter is also increased which can lead to erosion of dry beach behind the structure.

A canoe is one of the most popular boats in leisure on the water. Generally canoe has been built by good wooden strips. And canoe built by FRP is used for business recently. But by the users' demands for good quality and the restriction to environmental pollution the wooden canoes are required for personal and canoe building business. The modern wooden canoes were built by the strip construction method are used typically. However it is not suitable for the mass productivity requires effective resource operations and managements of men, materials, times, and price. On this paper the new construction method, called the piling-up laminated construction method, is studied to building a canoe using the piling-up with the laminated wooden plates gives more productivity than the others. First a canoe with various curved surfaces is designed from 3D design system. And the hull of canoe model is divided horizontally to generating the laminated plates that will be converting real wooden plates available from the market and will be routed by the manufacturing machine. After the simulating and analyzing of piling-up with the laminated plates, the canoe is building with less times, less men, less resources, and lower price than other method, avoid of the requirements of additional building tools. On the next paper the constructing of a real canoe using the manufactured wooden plates will be studied.

Seokgasan which is artificial rock mountain had been developed into one of the axes of traditional rock landscape of Goryo period and Joseon period as the central component of Korean traditional landscaping, but the legacy was cut off at the present. In the middle of the Goryo period, the Seokgasan made by piling rocks which were started from replicating miniature landscape has been developed into presenting the symbol and Seokgasan so it faced the new transition period of traditional rock garden culture. Seokgasan so it as small knoll, the Korean traditional Seokgasan was made differently the the surrounding landscape with big Seokgasan in China which overwhelms so it harmonize the surrounding landscape to build Korean style of the Seokgasan. This study is the objective investigation based on the old literature and the field remains, so it aims to so it comprehend the type of Seokgasan and developmental forms. At the result of investigation, 5 types of Seokgasan such as rocks piling on a pond, piling rocks, rocks in a pond, rocks on a ground, rock in a pot etc. has been developing in addition to the rocks which the oddly shaped rock is piled up as the basic framework. Among those, the piling rocks on a pond of Seokgasan which means water flows in Seokgasan is the representative Seokgasan which has been continued since the middle of the Goryo period until the end of the Joseon period. This study is expected to be the foundation which will succeed to legacy of Seokgasan tradition which was cut off and to develop by recovering historical landscaping value and identity of Seokgasan.
In order to advise how to solve the problems and suggest on the mechanization of beef farm, the facilities and equipment for feeding and supplying water to the animals and transporting manure, and farm machineries of sixty-seven beef cattle farms in western Chungnam Province were surveyed. The results are as follows; 1. The proportions of number of heads per farm for above 70, 50∼70, 30∼50, 10∼30 and below 10 heads were 26, 18, 29, 13 and 13, respectively. The farms with the annual income more than 30 million won are consisted of 67.6% of the farms surveyed which showed to be higher than national average. 2. Only 19% of farms had automatic feeding system. Water was supplied by water cup(45%), opening and shutting water tab(27.6%) and bucket. 3. Cattle manure was transported by manpower (46%) by loader (34%) and by gravitational flow (14%). Most of manure(97%) was composted after treatment of drying or piling up outside. 4. More instruction and education were required because of the insufficient routine checking and fixing for farming machines, and unsystematic education for learning skills. 5. 65% of farms felt unsatisfied about after service(A/S) for their machinery. The main reason why the farmers were not satisfied was that it took too much time to be repaired. 6. When the farms purchased facilities, equipment and machinery, they did not analyze economic value of them and keep a diary. To make effective use of machines, the most available model for purchasing and managing of machines must be developed and applied to various scales of management.
An experimental study was carried out to investigate the recycling possibility of waste oyster shells, which induce environmental pollutions by piling up out at the open or the temporary reclamation. The purpose of this study is to develope eco-friendly binder using waste oyster shells, and to reinforce dredged soils fur soft soil improvement. In this paper, a series of laboratory tests including compressive strength tests were performed to evaluate strength characteristics of soils treated by developed binder with different water content of dredged soils, mixing rates of binder, curing days. Based on test results, eco-friendly binders manufactured from waste oyster shells were estimated as good resource materials for soft soil improvements.
Shielding problems associated with neutron streaming through the reactor vessel cavity of pressurized water reactors are discussed to a certain extent with the actual examples in the currently operating reactors. Various remedial techniques are proposed herein to mitigate the tedious neutron streaming phenomena including piling up in heaps of temporary boron-containing bags and the installation of permanent shield structure making use of a certain refractory materials. In conclusion, optimum cavity shielding design concepts are presented with special emphasis on such major factors as the identification of major neutron streaming path, selection of necessary shielding materials with acceptable constraints, detailed design characteristics and physical configuration as well as the formulation of dependable mathematical tools to predict the final outcome of each design concept proposed in the context.

An experimental investigation was carried out to study recycling possibility of waste oyster shells, which induce environmental pollutions from piling up out at the open or the temporary reclamation. The purpose of this paper is to develop eco-friendly binder using waste oyster shells, and to investigate their reinforcing effects for dredged soil improvement. A series of laboratory tests including compressive strength tests were performed to evaluate strength characteristics of soils treated by developed binder with varying water content of dredged soils, mixing rates of binder, and different curing days. Based on laboratory test results, eco-friendly binders developed here using waste oyster shells were found as good resource materials for soft soil improvements.
An experimental study was carried out to investigate the stabilizing capability of oyster shell binder, which was developed using waste oyster shell inducing environmental pollutions by piling up out at the open or the temporary reclamation. The purpose of this paper is to compare stabilinzing capability of oyster shell binder and cement binder with treated soils. For this, a series of compressive laboratory tests were peformed to evaluate strength characteristics of treated soils by both oyster shell binder and cement binder with varing water content of dredged soils, different mixing rates of binder and curing days. Based on test results, eco-friendly binder manufactured by oyster shells showed more stabilizing capacity than cement binder and is estimated as good resource materials for soft soil improvements.
We can infer from collections of prose in Cho-sun period that the main period is from King Se-jong's reign to King Yoeng-jo's or between the 15th and the 17th century. The ideological background and the dignity of the rock garden is derived from Taoist hermitism and Nitze and Jeng-je's quietism. The representation of the rock garden as tri-god mountain comprising Bong-lai, Bang-jang and Young-ju is based on the tradition of making the tripartite rock garden in a pond practiced in the three north-eastern countries, Korea, China and Japan. And it's the representation of quietistic world of eternal life that had been sought by the taoism. Making a pond in which they plant lotus and made rock garden. they enjoyed watching immaculately pure lotus flower bloom even in the mud. It is compared to the confucians' seeking for virtue even in the profane or defiled world. Another motive of intellectuals to make rock gardens is their love of nature and its landscapes and their preference of recluse and temperate life to attaching to high public office, which was the tendency of the learned, established by the influence of taoist and quietist tradition. The essays portray the fountain water, ponds, waterfalls. the hilltops, the mountain pass over the ridge. winded lanes, valleys, caverns, and other architectural elements. The technic of building rock gardens includes those of harmonizing each elements of landscapes in the water, that of irrigation, building formation, and those of piling up the mountains and hills. With some comments on planting trees, grass and flowers. The original location of rock garden, esp. in case of taoist Chae-su's rock garden with waterfalls, is Ian-ri, Ian-myon in the city Sang-ju. Since no relics of rock gardens are to be found in any examples of Korea's traditional gardening, the study of rock gardening by analyzing the prose collections of Cho-sun period can be significant for the study of designing water space that has been considered the center of a garden space.
A sports center fire in Jecheon that caused 29 deaths and 40 injuries was analyzed based on initial response and management in order to investigate the causes of the casualties. The aspects of initial response included delay of reporting 119, not being guided to the exit for the body scrubber on the $2^{nd}$ floor for escape, opening the fire doors of the exits on the $1^{st}$ floor and $3^{rd}$ floor, not closing the fire door of the main stairs on the $3^{rd}$ floor, and not doing an emergency broadcast. The management aspects included closing the alarm valve of the sprinkler system on the $1^{st}$ floor, starting-stop of the fire pump controller, neglecting leakage of water and electricity between the false ceiling and ceiling in the parking lot, hiding the exit light in the ladies bathroom lounge on the $2^{nd}$ floor and piling up things in the exit, neglecting the button of an automatic door on the $2^{nd}$ floor, conventional fire safety management, insufficient inspection of fire equipment, and not working fire shutters and smoke exhaust windows.
