Most of combustion processess used in industries require recovering or removing flue gas components. Recently a new MBA (moving bed adsorption) process for recovering $CO_2$ using zeolite 13X was developed. In this study, adsorption experiments for carbon dioxide, nitrogen, sulfur dioxide, and water vapor on zeolite 13X were carried out. Adsorption equilibrium and adsorption rate into solid particle were investigated. Langmuir, Toth, and Freundlich isotherm parameters were calculated from the experiment data at various temperatures. Experimental results were consistent with the theoretically predicted values. Also $CO_2$ adsorption amount was measured under the conditions with impurities such as $SO_2$ and $H_2O$. Binary adsorption data were well fitted to the extended Langmuir isotherm using parameters obtained from pure component experiment. However, $H_2O$ impurity less than, roughly, ${\sim}10^{-5}H_2O\;mol/g$ zeolite 13X enhanced slightly $CO_2$ adsorption. Spherical particle diffusion model well described experimentally measured adsorption rate. Diffusion coefficients and activation energies of $CO_2$, $SO_2$, $N_2$, $H_2O$ were obtained. Diffusion coefficients of $CO_2$ and $SO_2$ decreased with small amount of preadsorbed impurity. Parameter values from this study will be helpful to design of real commercial adsorption process.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Recently Yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) has been introduced due to superior flexural strength and fracture toughness compared to other dental ceramic systems. Although zirconia has outstanding mechanical properties, the phenomenon of decrease in the life-time of zirconia resulted from degradation in flexural strength after low temperature aging has been reported. PURPOSE. The objective of this study was to investigate degradation of flexural strength of Y-TZP ceramics after various low temperature aging treatments and to evaluate the phase stability and micro-structural change after aging by using X-ray diffraction analysis and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). MATERIAL AND METHODS. Y-TZP blocks of Vita In-Ceram YZ (Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad $S\ddot{a}ckingen$, Germany) were prepared in 40 mm (length) $\times$ 4 mm (width) $\times$ 3 mm (height) samples. Specimens were artificially aged in distilled water by heat-treatment at a temperature of 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, and $225^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours, in order to induce the phase transformation at the surface. To measure the mechanical property, the specimens were subjected to a four-point bending test using a universal testing machine (Instron model 3365; Instron, Canton, Mass, USA). In addition, X-ray diffraction analysis (DMAX 2500; Rigaku, Tokyo, Japan) and SEM (Hitachi s4700; Jeol Ltd, Tokyo, Japan) were performed to estimate the phase transformation. The statistical analysis was done using SAS 9.1.3 (SAS institute, USA). The flexural strength data of the experimental groups were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and to detect statistically significant differences ($\alpha$= .05). RESULTS. The mean flexural strength of sintered Vita In-Ceram YZ without autoclaving was 798 MPa. When applied aging temperature at below $125^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours, the flexural strength of Vita In-Ceram YZ increased up to 1,161 MPa. However, at above $150^{\circ}C$, the flexural strength started to decrease. Although low temperature aging caused the tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation related to temperature, the minimum flexural strength was above 700 MPa. CONCLUSION. The monoclinic phase started to appear after aging treatment above $100^{\circ}C$. With the higher aging temperature, the fraction of monoclinic phase increased. The ratio of monoclinic/tetragonal + monoclinic phase reached a plateau value, circa 75% above $175^{\circ}C$. The point of monoclinic concentration at which the flexural strength begins to decrease was between 12% and 54%.
Rising sea levels along the coast from global warming causes the increase of wave energy along the coast. This rise in sea levels results in relatively deep water levels, which would incur the loss of sand that had not occurred in the past from erosion in coastal areas. Generally, it has been challenging to protect against coastal erosion, and the slope, cross-sectional shape, and materials are selected for the site conditions depending on the change in external forces. However, the application of counter measures based on insufficient understanding of the phenomenon is causing various damage, indicating the need for technological development and converging technologies to improve credibility. In this study, we developed eco-friendly permeable biopolymer concrete blocks to control the coastal erosion by using the Bio-Coast, an effective porous structure that mitigates the destructive erosion caused by the rising sea levels. The hexagonal design of Bio-Coast was derived from the honeycomb, columnar joints, and clover, which are durable and stable structures in nature, and the design was changed to apply bumps on the Bio-Coast filling in the form of a clover to reduce wave overtopping and run-up. Applying the field condition of beaches on the east coast of Korea, the block weight and size were decided and the prototype blocks were manufactured and are ready for field placement. In particular, it is intended to protect coastal areas from destructive erosion by natural and artificial external forces, and to extend the design to river,s lakes, and natural walking trails, to improve the efficiency of quality control and process control through the use of blocks.
The leakage of water under sewer pipelines is one of main sources of sinkholes in urban areas. We performed laboratory model tests to investigate the presence of cavities using impact-echo method, which is a nondestructive test method. To simulate a concrete sewer pipe, a thin concrete plate was built and placed over container filled with sand. The cavity was modeled as an extruded polystyrene foam box. Two sets of tests were performed, one over sand and the other on cavity. A new impact device was developed to apply a consistent high frequency impact load on the concrete plate, thereby increasing the reliability of the test procedure. The frequency and transient characteristics of the measured reflected waveforms were analyzed via fast Fourier transform and short time Fourier spectrum. It was shown that the shapes of Fourier spectra are very similar to one another, and therefore cannot be used to predict the presence of cavity. A new index, termed resonance duration, is defined to record the time of vibration exceeding a prescribed intensity. The results showed that the resonance duration is a more effective parameter for predicting the presence of a cavity. A value of the resonance period was proposed to estimate the presence of cavity. Further studies using various soil types and field tests are warranted to validate the proposed approach.

Even though high performance concrete was developed according to the trend of bigger and higher of reinforced concrete building, the rheological evaluations such as viscosity, yield stress are not enough to use as input data to accomplish the numerical analysis for the construction design. So there are many problems in the harden concrete such as poor compaction, rock pocket and crack, etc. in the field. In this study, consistency curves were measured by the viscometer as hydration reaction time passed. At the same time the slump flow test and Vicat setting test were carried out for comparing with the results of rheological properties. The fluidity of the W/B 30% decreased as the increase of replacement ratio of blast furnace slag. But in case of W/B 40%, the replacement ration did not significantly influenced to the slump flow value with the passage of hydration time. By the replacement of blast furnace slag to cement, initial setting was delayed and the time gap between initial and final setting became shorten. Through the regression analysis using Bingham model, there are a sudden changes of viscosity and yield stress around initial setting in case of low W/B 30%. The increase of workability by the change of free water in cement paste was offset by the coating effect of impermeable layer in case of W/B 40%.
The purpose of this study was to present the direction of the safety manual in the food service industry kitchen. The accident rate in food industry kitchens is around 87.2%, it meaning nearly 9 workers have accident among 10, considered to be very high. The most common accident is a knife cut wound (84.7%). And burns caused by hot water and oil (74.4%), then shown slip and falls (28.1%). The degree of fulfillment of kitchen safety awareness and safe environment varied based on gender, in which male are considered more likely to suffer from accidents than women. The level of safety perception varies between workers at different career points. Workers with 1~3 years of experience suffer the highest rate of accident, while workers with 7~10 years and more of experience are believed to be at lower risk of accident. Restaurant type did not exhibit a significant influence on accidents cases, although differences in the adoption of personal safety, even partially, were discovered, at significance of 0.01 < 0.027 < $0.05^*$. Based on these results, this paper has suggested preventive safety management validation model the food service industry based on kitchen management and incident management, and presented steps necessary.

This study investigated the effect of porcelain primer on bonding of coomposite resin to porcelain surface. In order to test the bond strength between porcelain and composite resin, porcelain cylinders were embedded in acrylic resin, and polished with 240grit silicone caqrbide paper. The specimens were divided into twelve groups. All specimens were treated with three porcelain primers and bonded with five composite resins. All test groups were stored in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 48hours. Shear bond strengths were measured with Instron(Model 4201) at a cross-head speed of 1mm/min. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Scotchprime/Silux II group and BISCO Porcelain Primer/Bisfill group showed significant higher bond strengths than Clearfil Porcelain Primer/photo Clearfil Bright group(p<0.05). And there was no significant differences in bond strengths between Scotchprime/Silux II group and BISCO Porcelain Primer/Bisfill group(p>0.05). 2. When composite resins were used with Scotchprime, the bond strengths were decresed Silux II$(16.68{\pm}3.35MPa)$, Bisfil$(16.23{\pm}4.54MPa)$, Poly-Fill$(14.74{\pm}4.08MPa)$, Photo Clearfil Bright$(13.75{\pm}2.89MPa)$ and Pekalux$(14.74{\pm}4.08MPa)$ in order, but there was no statistical significance(p>0.05). 3. When composite resins were used with BISCO Porcelain Primer, the bond strength were decreased Bisfil$(16.17{\pm}1.60MPa)$, Silux II$(12.13{\pm}2.37MPa)$, Poly-Fill$(10.78{\pm}1.99MPa)$, Photo Cleafil Bright $(9.91{\pm}4.59MPa)$ and Pekalux$(7.36{\pm}2.16MPa)$ in order, but there was no statistical significance(p>0.05). 4. Silux II, Photo Clearfil Bright and Poly-Fill used with Scotchprime showed significant higher bond strengths than BISCO Porcelain Primer(p>0.05).

The probabilistic model was developed to give a spatial simlation of precipitation series to solve the problem of future need of water resources. The simulation of daily precipitation series at the sub-base stations was induced from the spatial structure of rainfall occurrence probability between the base station and the sub-base stations in the watershed. In this study Hadong was chosen as the base station in Seomjin river basin and Imsil, Boseong, Soonchang, Dongbok, and Gurye were also selected as the sub-base stations. The results of this study are as follows; 1) The separation technique of spatial precipitation state showed effectiveness in the spatial simulation method because the occurrence probability by each precipitation state (Wet-Wet, Dry-Wet, Wet-Dry, and Dry- Dry system) represented the stable value. 2) The daily precipitation series of the sub-base stations which were simulated from those of the base station showed that the simulated annual mean precipitations were similar to the observed data, but the precipitations in summer were decreased slightly. 3) The correlogram and power spectrum of the simulated monthly precipitation for the sub-base stations showed those of the observed sample with good agreement.

The SCS Curve Number(CN) method has become widely accepted as a procedure of estimating stormflow volumes for design and natural events in small watersheds. The applicability of this method for calculating the flushing time was evaluated as compared with the net volume transport(NVT) method in Masan Bay, Korea. It is shown that the flushing time using the CN method ranged from 10.9 to 15.3 days under the well mixed condition, that the time using the NVT method was 13.9 days averaged over 6 days of field data. These results were revealed that two methods calculated the approximate times as shown above. The relationships between the run-off, Qr, and the flushing time, t, are expressed as the following forms. $t_1=228.79Q_r^{-0.9996}$ in case of well mixed condition, (1) $t_2=131.06Q_r^{-1.0}$ in case of two layered model. (2) Those empirical expressions are represented that the relationships between Q and t are nonlinear as those as Bumpus obtained in Boston Inner Harbour. Therefore, the CN method will permit calculation of the flushing time for any given bay to be unexpected as water balance under the condition of short-time (0.5 day) data, instead of NVT method based on the long-time (at least 3 days over) data.

The main object of this research is to minimize the shock effects which frequently result in fatal damage in wind met mast on impact of barge. The collision between wind met mast and barge is generally a complex problem and it is often not practical to perform rigorous finite element analyses to include all effects and sequences during the collision. LS-dyna generally purpose explicit finite element code, which is a product of ANSYS software, is used to model and analyze the non-linear response of the met mast due to barge collision. A significant part of the collision energy is dissipated as strain energy and except for global deformation modes, the contribution from elastic straining can normally be neglected. On applying impact force of a barge to wind met mast, the maximum acceleration, internal energy and plastic strain were calculated for each load cases using the finite element method and then compare it, varying to the velocity of barge, with one varying to the thickness of rubber fender conditions. Hence, we restrict the present research mainly to the wind met mast and also parametric study has been carried out with various velocities of barge, thickness of wind met mast, thickness and Mooney-Rivlin coefficient of rubber fender with experimental data. The equation of motion of the wind met mast is derived under the assumption that it was ignored vertical movement effect of barge on sea water. Such an analyzing method which was developed so far, make it possible to determine the proper size and material properties of rubber fender and the optimal moving conditions of barge, and finally, application method can be suggested in designing process of rubber fender considering barge impact.
