사료 섬유질이 고온 스트레스를 받는 수탉 성계의 수분 출납, 혈액의 산-염기 평형, 체온 및 대사율에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Fiber on Water Balance, Blood Acid-Base Balance, Body Temperature, and Metabolic Rate of Adult Roosters under Heat Stress)

  • One metabolism trial(Experiment I) and another respiration trial(Experiment II) were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary fiber supplementation(20% wheat bran) on the water balance, blood acid-base balance, body temperature, and metabolic rate of heat-stressed adult roosters. In Experiment I, twenty 20-wk-old SCWL roosters(BW 1.6 kg) were randomly alloted to 4 treatments with 5 birds per treatment and one per replicate. The 4 treatments were consisted of two temperature(21~22˚C vs. 34~35˚C) and two dietary fiber treatment(0% and 20% wheat bran), making Experiment I a 2x2 factorial. After 4 d of preliminary period, birds we subjected to 3-d collection period. Sixteen 20-wk-old SCWL roosters(BW 1.6 kg) were employed Experiment H, with two temperature(21~22˚C vs. 34~35˚C) and two wheat bran levels(0% and 20%). Brids were housed in individual metabolism cages under normal temperature(21~22˚C), at fed one of the experimental diet. After 4 d of preliminary period, a respiration trial with open-circuit gravimetric respiratory apparatus was carried out for each bird for 6 h, one by one, normal(20~21˚C) and hot(34~35˚C) temperatures. The ANOVA test and comparisons among treatment means were done at 5% probability level for both experiments. Results obtained from Experiment I and, II were summarized as follows, 1.The amounts of DM intake and excretion were significantly(P<.05) decreased by heat stress. The DM intake was not affected by the addition of 20% wheat bran, however, the amount of DM excretion was significantly increased by the high fiber diet. Thus, the DM metabolizability decreased significantly by the addition of 20% wheat bran. 2. The heat-stressed roosters increased the water intake and excreta moisture content significantly. Although not significant, the water intake tended to increase in roosters fed the 20% wheat bran diet. 3. The amounts of total water input and evaporative water loss were increased significantly by heat stress, and the addition of 20% wheat bran did not exert any influence on the total water input and evaporative water loss. However, roosters fed the 20% wheat bran diet increased the excreta water output significantly. 4. Neither the heat stress nor the dietary fiber did affect the blood pH, pCO2, and HCO$_3$- significantly. 5. The body temperature increased significantly by the heat stress. However, the high fiber deit failed to decrease the body temperature. 6. The heat-stressed roosters decreased the 02 consumption and C0$_2$ production, and increased the evaporative water loss significantly. However, the high fiber diet did not exert any infulence in this regard. It appears that the beneficial effect, if any, of high fibrous diet during heat stress episode may be due to the increased heat loss through the enhanced excreta water.

백련향차의 열수 추출물이 고지방식이 급여에 의한 흰쥐의 혈청 지질 함량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Water Extracts Green Tea Scented with Lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner Flower on Serum Lipid Concentrations in Rats Fed High Fat)

  • The effects of water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower on serum lipid concentrations were evaluated in rats. Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing l00±l0 g were divided into six groups and fed high fat diets for six weeks. Experimental groups were administered with following diets; Control diet, animal, plant high fat diet and control and high fat diets with 2% water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower. Tissue weights of liver, lung, stomach, heart, kidney and spleen of high fat diet exposed rats were reduced by water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups. The concentrations of serum triglyceride in rats fed the water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower were lower than those in other groups. The concentrations of total cholesterol in water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower group were lower than those in high fat diet groups. The concentrations of HDL-cholesterol in serum of the water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups were significantly higher than those of other groups. The levels of LDL-cholesterol in serum of the water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups were tended to be lower than those of other groups. GPT and GOT activities were decreased in water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups and than in the high fat group. LDH activity was lower in the water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups than in the high fat group. These results suggest that water extracts of green tea scented with lotus Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner flower groups may reduce elevated levels of serum lipid concentrations in rats fed high fat diets.

Effect of Salt Level in the Feed on Performance of Red and Fallow Weaner Deer

  • In Australia, many cropping areas are affected by salt. In these regions, Chenopodiaceous plants, such as Atriplex, Kochia and Bassia spp have been planted to improve soil conditions. These plants have become invaluable feed resources for grazing animals in dry summers, but have a high sodium content. To assess the impact of high salt intake on grazing deer, two experiments were conducted. The first experiment used 30 fallow weaner deer to examine the effect of salt level in the diet on feed intake, water intake and body weight of fallow deer. Salt was added to lucerne chaff at 0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6% and fresh water was offered all the time. Increasing the salt level in the diet from 0 to 6% didn't affect feed intake, osmotic pressure and mineral concentration in blood of fallow deer. However, water intake was significantly higher (p<0.05) in deer fed diets containing more than 3% salt. Body weight was lower (p${\leq}$0.056) for fallow deer in July and August when salt content was over 3%, suggesting they can ingest over 15 g sodium/day without significant depression in both feed intake and growth rate if the fresh water is available. In the second experiment, 18 red weaner deer were fed lucerne chaff diets containing 1.5, 4.5 and 6.0% salt with 6 deer/diet. The results revealed that feed intake and blood osmotic pressure were similar (p>0.05) for red deer fed different levels of salt although the feed intake declined from 1.91 to 1.67 kg with the increase of salt level from 1.5% to 6.0% in the diet. Water intake was significantly higher for deer fed diets containing over 4.5% salt, but there was no difference in body weight during the experiment. However, no recommendation can be made on the salt tolerance of red deer due to limited increment of salt level in the diet.

소맥글루텐과 스팀 처리가 새우 사료의 수중 안정성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Wheat gluten and Steaming Treatment on Water Stability of Extruded Shrimp Feed)

  • 본 연구는 새우사료의 수중 안정성을 증대시키기 위하여 실시되었다. 스팀처리도 하지 않고 글루텐도 함유하지 않은 비교시험 사료와 스팀 처리만 한 사료 그리고 소맥글루텐을 첨가하고 압출 성형한 후 스팀 처리한 사료, 세 가지 종류의 새우 사료를 제조하였다. 소맥글루텐을 새우사료에 4% (w/w) 가량 첨가하고 압출 성형한 다음 5분간 스팀 처리를 한 사료는 48시간이 지난 수중 안정성이 1로서, 소맥글루텐을 첨가하지 않고 스팀 처리도 하지 않은 비교 시험 사료의 4에 비해 수중 안정성이 크게 증가하였다. 또한 대하 사육 시험에서도 체중 증가율과 사료 효율이 각각 237%, 16.7%로서 비교 시험 사료의 151%, 12.8%보다 그 수치가 크게 증가하였다. 소맥글루텐의 첨가량과 스팀 처리 시간을 변화시켜 본 결과 소맥글루텐 첨가량을 4∼8%(w/w), 스팀 처리시간은 5∼10분으로 하는 것이 새우사료의 수중 안정성 개선에 적당한 것으로 나타났다.

나복자, 의이인, 백복령, 다엽, 차전자피로 구성된 혼합분말제(HP)와 진피, 산사, 옥미수, 양총피로 구성된 혼합열수추출물(HE)이 고지방식이로 유도된 비만마우스에 미치는 항비만 효과 (Anti-Obesity Effect of Herbal Mixture Powder and Water Extracts in Mice Fed a High Fat Diet)

  • Objective : This study was conducted to investigate anti-obesity effects of mixed-Powder(Raphani Semen, Coicis Semen, Poria, Plantaginis Testa & Theae folium)(HP) & mixed water extract(Citri Pericarpium, Crataegi Fructus, Maydis Stigma, Allium Skin) (HE) in mice fed a high-fat diet. Method : 50 Female ICR mice were divided into six groups; Normal group (Ve), high-fat diet group (Po), Po+HP(0.6g/kg) group(HP), Po+HE(1g/kg) group(HE), Po+(HP+HE) group(HPE), Po+(HP+HE)*2 group(DHPE). For 8 weeks, these groups were fed their respective diets. Body weight, liver weight and weights of adipose tissues, GOT/GPT index changes & Blood Glucose index changes were measured respectively. Lipid profiles in serum were analyzed by kit of blood. Results : Groups HP, HE, HPE, DHPE had significantly reduced body weight, liver weight, adipose tissue weights and GOT/GPT index, blood glucose index compared to the Po group. Also, serum triglyceride and total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, were significantly reduced when compared to the Po group. Group G1 had significantly increased high density lipoprotein levels. Conclusion : Mixed powder (HP) & mixed water extract (HE) show anti-obesity effects in mice fed a high-fat diet.

어성초추출물투여가 흰쥐의 간장과 혈청의 지질 및 과산화지질함량에미치는 효과 (Effects of Extracts of Houttuynia cordata Thunb on the Level of Lipids and Lipid Peroxidation in the Liver and Serum of Cholesterol-fed Rats)

  • The feeding effects of Herba hottuynia extracts on the lipids profiles and the content of TAB-reactive substances were evaluated in rats fed a high cholesterol diet. Hot water or ethanol extracts of the dried leave were evaporated and lyophilized . The experimental animals wer edevided to four groups and fed the following diets for 4 weeks : BAsal (cholesterol-free diet), CHOL(cholesterol-enriched diet),CW (cholesterol plus water extract) and CE(cholesterol plus ethanol extract). Dietary cholesterol increased significantly the activities of serum GOT and GPT, but the extracts feeding (0.5% of diet) did not influence the activities induced by dietary cholesterol. Although dietary cholesterol increased significantly the concentrationof serum andliver cholesterol, it tended to decrease the concentation of serum triglycerides. CHolesterol feeding had a lowering effect on the lipid peroxidation value of serum, but not inliver.Furthermore, the extracts feeding, especially water extract, decreased markedly the liver peroxidation value. The results suggest that Houttyunia cordata extracts have an in vivo antioxidant effect, judged from the TBA value in the liver rats fed a high cholesterol diet.

상황버섯(Phellinus linteus) 추출물이 고지방.고콜레스테롤 식이 흰쥐의 지질조성 및 항산화계에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Water Extracts from Phellinus linteus on Lipid Composition and Antioxidative System in Rats Fed High Fat High Cholesterol Diet)

  • 본 연구는 상황버섯추출액을 고지방.고콜레스테롤 쥐에 농도별로 50 mg/kg b.w(PA group), 100 mg/kg b.w(PB group)의 수준으로 공급하였을 시 지질대사 및 항산화 방어계에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 체중증가량은 정상군에 비해 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에서 유의적으로 증가되었으나 상황버섯 공급군에서는 체중의 감소가 나타났다. 특히 상황 버섯 농도를 높게 한 PB군은 유의적으로 감소되었다. 식이 효율 또한 정상군에 비해 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에서 유의적으로 증가하였으나 상황버섯을 공급한 군에서는 감소하였고 PB군은 정상군 수준으로 되었다. 중성지질의 양은 정상군에 비해 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에서 유의적으로 증가하였으며 상황버섯을 공급한 PA군과 PB군은 모두 정상군 수준으로 감소하였다. 총콜레스테롤은 정상군에 비해 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군은 유의적으로 증가하였으며 상황버섯 공급군 PA, PB군은 감소하였다. 특히 상황버섯 농도를 높게 한 PB군은 유의적으로 감소되었다. HDL-cholesterol은 정상군은 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였고 상황버섯을 공급한 군은 고지방.고콜레스테롤군에 비해 증가하였으나 유의적인 차이는 보이지 않았다. LDL-cholesterol 및 동맥경화지수(AI)는 정상군에 비해 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에서 유의적으로 증가되었고 상황버섯 공급군은 유의적으로 감소하였으며 특히 상황버섯 농도를 높게 한 PB군에서 정상군 수준으로 감소하였다. SOD 활성은 상황버섯 공급군에서 증가하였으나 유의적 차이는 없었다. 또한 GPx를 관찰한 결과 정상군에 비해 고지방.콜레스테롤 공급군에서 감소되었고 상황버섯을 공급한 PA군과 PB군에서 고지방.콜레스테롤에 비해 증가하였으며 특히 상황버섯 농도를 높게 한 PB군은 유의적으로 증가하였다. 생체 조직의 과산화적 손상 지표가 되는 간의 지질과산화물(TBARS) 함량을 간 조직에서 측정한 결과 고지방.고콜레스테롤 군에 비해 상황버섯을 공급한 모든 군에서 감소하였다. 또한 혈장에서 측정한 결과 상황버섯을 공급한 군 모두에서 정상군 수준으로 감소하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과로 미루어 상황버섯은 지질대사 개선작용을 지니고 있으며 항산화계 활성을 지니고 있음이 규명되었다.

수온과 shelter형태를 달리한 참전복 사육에서 배합사료 및 미역 공급 효과 (Effects of Formulated Diet or Macroalgae ( Undaria pinnatifida) on the Growth and Body Composition of Juvenile Abalone (Haliotis discus hannai) Cultured in Different Water Temperature and Shelter Type)

  • 수온, 먹이 및 shelter가 참전복에 미치는 효과를 조사하기 위하여 먹이종류 (배합사료, 미역)$\times$shelter 형태 (4종류)$\times$사육수온-(자연수, 가온수)$\times$2반복으로 평균체중 142mg인 참전복을 대상으로 15주간 사육 실험하였다. 생존율은 먹이종류와 사육수온에 따라 차이를 보여 자연수의 미역 공급구들이 대체로 낮은 경향을 보였다 (P<0.05). 증체율은 동일 수온에서 shelter 종류에 관계없이 배합사료 공급구가 현저히 높았으며 (P<0.05), 동일 먹이 공급구내에서는 가온수가 자연수보다 높았는데 특히 배합사료 공급구에서 이러한 차이는 더 현저하였다 (P<0.05). 실험 종료시 가식부의 수분 함량은 먹이와 수온에 따라서는 차이를 보였으나 shelter 종류에 따라서는 차이가 없었다. 단백질 함량은 실험구간에 유의한 차이가 없었으며 (P>0.05), 지질 함량은 자연수에 배합사료 공급구가 미역 공급구보다 전반적으로 높은 경향을 보였다 (P<0.05). 본 실험의 결과로부터 저수온기에 적당히 수온을 상승시킴과 동시에 해조류보다 배합사료를 공급하는 것이 사용 shelter 형태에 관계없이 참전복의 성장을 개선시키고 생존율을 높일 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

가시오가피 물추출물이 고콜레스테롤식이를 공급한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Acanthopanax Senticosus Water Extract on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed a Hypercholesterol Diet)

  • In order to find the effect of improving hyperlipidemia by Acanthopanax senticosus water extract, a hypercholesterol diet and Acanthopanax senticosus water extract were supplemented to week- old male Spargue Dawley rats for four weeks in different amount. Results showed that serum total cholesterol significantly decreased in the group supplemented with Acanthopanax senticosus water extract by 50mg/kg(ASW-50) and 75mg/kg(ASW-75) compared with the control group.(p<0.05). Serum triglyceride also showed a significant decrease in the group supplemented with 50mg/kg(ASW-50) and 75mg/kg(ASW-75) compared with the control group. Liver total cholesterol showed a significant decrease in the group supplemented with Acanthopanax senticosus water extract by 50mg/kg(ASW-50) and 75mg/kg(ASW-75) compared with the control group(p<0.05), but liver triglyceride did not show a significant decrease in all of the experiment groups. Total cholesterol and triglyceride in feces significantly increased in all of the groups supplemented with Acanthopanax senticosus water extract(p<0.05). Acanthopanax senticosus water extract decreased the level of serum total cholesterol and triglyceride, reduced total cholesterol in the liver, and increased the excretion of total cholesterol and triglyceride in the feces.

감잎, 녹차의 건분 및 물, 에탄올추출물이 노령쥐의 지방대사와 항산화능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dried Leaf Powders, Water and Ethanol Extracts of Persimmon and Green Tea Leaves on Lipid Metabolism and Antioxidative Capacity in 12-Month-Old Rats)

  • The effects of dried leaf powders and water and ethanol extracts of persimmon and green tea on lipid metabolism, lipid peroxidation and antioxidative enzyme activity were investigated in 12-month-old rats. Forty-nine male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 520$\pm$19g were blocked into seven groups according to body weight. Rats were raised for four weeks with control(no tea leaf powder or extracts) and experimental diets containing either 5%(w/w) dried leaf powders of persimmon(Diospyros kaki Thunb) or green tea(Camellia sinensis O. Ktze), or water or ethanol extract from equal amounts of each dried tea powder. Food intakes of all tea diet groups were higher than that of control. Weight gains and food efficiency ratios of all tea diet groups were not significantly different from those of control. All tea diets decreased plasma triglyceride level, especially, green tea powder and persimmon ethanol diets were more effective than other diet. All the tea diet groups showed decrease in liver triglyceride level, and persimmon powder and ethanol extract increased fecal triglyceride excretion. Plasma cholesterol levels of all the tea diet groups were not significantly different from the control, but control. Fecal cholesterliver cholesterol concegroups were significantlntrations of all tea y lower than that of ol excretions of persimmon powder, green tea ethanol extract, persommon ethanol extract and green tea ethanol extract groups were significantly higher than that of control. Plasma and liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS) concentrations of all the tea diet groups were lower than that of control. Especially, plasma TBARS concentrations of green tea powder and persimmon ethanol extract groups were sinificantly low. Red blood cell(RBC) superoxide dismutase(SOD) activities of persimmon ethanol extract and green tea water extract groups were increased, and RBC catalase activities of all experimental groups were not significantly different. RBC glutathione peroxidase(GSH-px) activities of persimmon ethanol extract, persimmon water extract and green tea powder groups were increased. Liver SOD activities of all the tea diet groups except green tea ethanol extract group were higher than that of control. Liver catalase activities of all experimental groups were not significantly different, and liver GSH-px activity of green tea powder group was significantly higher than that of control. In conclusion, dried leaf powders, and water and ethanol extracts of persimmon and green tea were effective in lowering lipid level, inhibiting lipid peroxidation and increasing antioxdative enzyme activities in 12-month-old rat. Green tea leaf powder with high contents of flavonoids and water soluble dietar fiber was most effective in lowering plasma triglyceride, cholesterol and TBARS level.
