In order to control the micro-pore structure of glassy carbon (GC), an activation agent of KOH was introduced as the glassy carbon was prepared from phenolic resin with a curing agent of phosphoric acid. The yield and properties of GC were investigated as a function of KOH content. Although the GC produced without KOH had nonporous structure except the trace of bubble formation, the GC with KOH had very porous structure. The surface area of GC with KOH increased continuously up to 870 $m^2$/g with the increase of KOH content. The carbonization yield and apparent density measured in water reduced from 40 to 15% and iron 1.5 to 0.9 g/$cm^3$, respectively, and the electrical resistivity increased from $50{\times}10^{-4}$ to $60{\times}10^{-4}$$\Omega$.cm with the increase of KOH content.
Novel polythiol materials of urethane lens series for plastic optical lens were synthesized from polyol materials via thioisouronium of thiourea with c-HCl in refluxing aqueous solution, in which polythiol material was carried out from hydrolysis of thioisouronium by ammonia water. Their structure properties were identified by EA, EI-MS, FT-IR, $^1H\;and\;^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopies and TGA. Their ophthalmic lenses as polythiourethane material were prepared by thermal curing to an injected glass mold using the evenly solutions of diisocyanates series (TDI, XDI, HDI or IPDI) with polythiols. Polythiourethane shows that the strong stretching mode for SH group of polythiol disappeared in FT-IR spectra after thermosetting polymerization. Thermal deformation starting temperature of ophthalmic lenses was determined by TMA. Ophthalmic lenses made from characteristic polythiol and diisocyanate series have transparency, colorless and good impact strength, in which thermal resistance and impact strength of ophthalmic lenses were influenced by diisocyanate series. Physical properties of ophthalmic lens have contrast thermal resistance with impact strength. The property of thermal resistance and impact strength for respective ophthalmic lenses was examined by TMA and drop ball test.
In this study, hydrogels from mixtures of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP)/glycerin/chitosan were prepared by γ-ray irradiation and the mechanical properties such as gelation, water absorptivity, and gel strength were examined to evaluate the applicability of these for wound dressing. Then PVA:PVP was weight ratio of 6 : 4, the concentration of chitosan was 0.3 wt%, the concentration of glycerin was in the range of 0∼5 wt%t. The solid concentration of PVA/PVP/glycerin/chitosan solution was 15 wt%. Gamma irradiation doses of 25, 35, 50, and 60 kGy were exposed to a mixture of PVA/PVP/glycerin/chitosan to evaluate the effect of irradiation dose. Gel content and gel strength increased as glycerin concentration in PVA/PVP/glycerin/chitosan decreased, and as irradiation dose increased. Swelling degree increased as glycerin concentration in PVA/PVP/glycerin/chitosan increased, and as irradiation dose decreased. The glycerin in PVA/PVP/glycerini/chitosan hydrogel prevented the transformation of shape. These hydrogel dressings had better curing effect than vaseline gauge.

Magnesium potassium phosphate cement (MKPC) is an effective agent for solidification/stabilization (S/S) technology. To further explore the mechanism of the S/S by MKPC, two kinds of Cd including $Cd(NO_3)_2$ solution (L-Cd) and municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (MSWI FA) adsorbed Cd (S-Cd), were used to compare the effects of the form of heavy metal on S/S. The results showed that all the MKPC pastes had a high unconfined compressive strength (UCS) above 11 MPa. For L-Cd pastes, Cd leaching concentration increased with the increase of Cd content, and decreased with the increase of curing time. With the percentage of MSWI FA below 20%, S-Cd pastes exhibited similar Cd leaching concentrations as those of L-Cd pastes, while when the content of MSWI FA come up to 30%, the Cd leaching concentration increased significantly. To meet the standard GB5085.3-2007, the highest addition of S-Cd was 30% MSWI FA (6% Cd contained), with the Cd leaching concentration of 0.817 mg/L. The S/S of L-Cd is mainly due to chemical fixation, and the hydration compound of Cd was $NaCdPO_4$, while the S/S of S-Cd is due to physical encapsulation, which is dependent on the pore/crack size and porosity of the MKPC pastes.
Purpose : This study was carried out to investigate the relaxational response to the water extract of Sobokchukeo-Tang(SCT) in isolated uterine muscle in rats. Methods : Segments of uterine muscle obtained from female rats immediately after delivery were mounted in organ baths superfused on a polygraph. The effects of SCT on the tension of potassium induced contracture were studied in rat uterine smooth muscles. All experiments were performed in Krebs-Henseit solution which was aerated with 100% oxygen and kept at $37^{\circ}C$. Results : KCI did not produce contraction in calcium-free solution, but $CaCl_2$ induced concentration-dependent contraction after depolarizing with KCI. SCT inhibited the tonic contraction of uterine muscle as dose dependent manner. And when SCT was pretreated in calcium-free medium, it showed more powerful relaxational effect. The effect of 10mg/ml concentration of SCT was equal to that of 9nM and 70nM of nifedipine and verapamil and the relaxational effect of SCT on rat uterine muscle can be assumed to be concerned with the action of cyclic AMP. But the action mechanism of relaxation on the rat uterine muscles were concerned with the calcium channel. Conclusion : From this study we could suggest that the relaxtional effect of SCT on uterine muscle be available to preventing and curing dysmenorrhea.
Concrete using eco-cement has a problem with long-term strength development. However, currently, a long-term strength development mechanism is not confirmed, resulting in a lack of application of eco-cement in construction fields. In this study, the curing humidity influence on development in long-term strength of concrete using eco-cement and the relationship between strength and pore structure were examined. The results showed that wet cured eco-cement with a high water/cement ratio showed serious long-term strength reduction due to non-reduction of pore volume (pore size over 10 nm) in mortar caste with eco-cement. Also, the study results on improvement of long-term strength of eco-cement by partial replacement with ordinary portland cement and finely-ground fly ash showed that both of these alternatives improved long-term strength of concrete caste with eco-cement due to gradual refinement of their micro-structure.

In this paper, strength correction factors of the concretes incorporating ordinary Portland cement(OPC), fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag(BS) with 50% of water to binder ratio due to temperature drop for standard room temperature(20±3℃) are provided. For this, strength development was done based on equivalent age method. For calculating the equivalent age, apparent activation energy was obtained with 24.69 kJ/mol in OPC, 46.59 kJ/mol in FA, 54.59 kJ/ol in BS systems. According to the estimation of strength development of the concretes, the use of FA and BS resulted in larger strength drop than that of OPC under low temperature compared to standard room temperature. Hence, strength correction factors(Tn) for OPC, FA and BS are suggested within 4~17℃ with every 3MPa levels.

PURPOSE. Among the surface treatment methods suggested to enhance the adhesion of resin cement to fiberreinforced composite posts, conflicting results have been obtained with silanization. In this study, the effects of silanization, heat activation after silanization, on the bond strength between fiber-reinforced composite post and resin cement were determined. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Six groups (n=7) were established to evaluate two types of fiber post (FRC Postec Plus, D.T. Light Post) and three surface treatments (no treatment; air drying; drying at $38^{\circ}C$). Every specimen were bonded with dual-curing resin cement (Variolink N) and stored in distilled water for 24 hours at $37^{\circ}C$. Shear-bond strength (MPa) between the fiber post and the resin cement were measured using universal testing device. The data were analyzed with 1-way ANOVA and by multiple comparisons according to Tukey's HSD (${\alpha}$=0.05). The effect of surface treatment, fiber post type, and the interactions between these two factors were analyzed using 2-way ANOVA and independent sample T-tests. RESULTS. Silanization of the FRC Postec Plus significantly increased bond strength compared with the respective non-treated control, whereas no effect was determined for the D.T. Light Post. Heat drying the silane coupling agent on to the fiberreinforced post did not significantly improve bond strength compared to air-syringe drying. CONCLUSION. The bond strength between the fiber-reinforced post and the resin cement was significantly increased with silanization in regards to the FRC Postec Plus post. Bond strength was not significantly improved by heat activation of the silane coupling agent.

PURPOSE. To evaluate the effects of hydrofluoric acid etching and Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiation on the shear bond strength of resin cement to lithium disilicate ceramic. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Fifty-five ceramic blocks ($5mm{\times}5mm{\times}2mm$) were fabricated and embedded in acrylic resin. Their surfaces were finished with 1000-grit silicon carbide paper. The blocks were assigned to five groups: 1) 9.5% hydrofluoric-acid etching for 60 s; 2-4), 1.5-, 2.5-, and 6-W Er,Cr:YSGG laser applications for 60 seconds, respectively; and 5) no treatment (control). One specimen from each group was examined using scanning electron microscopy. Ceramic primer (Rely X ceramic primer) and adhesive (Adper Single Bond) were applied to the ceramic surfaces, followed by resin cement to bond the composite cylinders, and light curing. Bonded specimens were stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. Shear bond strengths were determined by a universal testing machine at 1 mm/min crosshead speed. Data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U-tests (${\alpha}$=0.05). RESULTS. Adhesion was significantly stronger in Group 2 ($3.88{\pm}1.94$ MPa) and Group 3 ($3.65{\pm}1.87$ MPa) than in Control group ($1.95{\pm}1.06$ MPa), in which bonding values were lowest (P<.01). No significant difference was observed between Group 4 ($3.59{\pm}1.19$ MPa) and Control group. Shear bond strength was highest in Group 1 ($8.42{\pm}1.86$ MPa; P<.01). CONCLUSION. Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiation at 1.5 and 2.5 W increased shear bond strengths between ceramic and resin cement compared with untreated ceramic surfaces. Irradiation at 6 W may not be an efficient ceramic surface treatment technique.
Naphthalene sulfonated condensate has been widely used as a superplasticizer for cement and
concrete, but the application was limited due to its large slump loss with elapsed time.
To complement this demerit of NSF, polycarboxylic acid copolymer from nlaleic anhydride and
acryl~c acid(MA) was synthesized to retain the mobility of cement and concrete, and then mixed
with NSF. The physical properties, such as fluidity, fluidityretention and rheology, were
measured by applying these admixtures to cement paste as a function of elapsed time. And also
compressive strength of mortar was measured with curing time.
NIv-l and NM-2 containing 10, 20 wt% of MA respectively had a excellent fluidity and a fluidity-
retention. In rheological property, the increases of shear stress and viscosity with elapsed
time were delayed with the increasing of shear rate in cornparision with NSF only. The marked
slump loss of cement paste could be controlled by these admixture. Also the added ainount of admixture
and the ratio of water to cement affected these properties.
