농촌유역 환경개선을 위한 용수공급체계 재정비 (Rural watershed Water Quality and Environmental Improvement through Rearrangement of Irrigation Water Supply Systems)

  • The objective of the study is to assess the water quality improvement resulted from the rearrangement of the irrigation water supply systems at Mankyeong River and Ansung Chun basin. There is a mixed type of watershed composed of urban and rural areas in the region. From the water quality analysis, showed high T-N, T-P concentration in Ansung chun and Mankyeong river caused by paddies separated widely around Ansung chun and Mankyeong river and by runoff of the pollution from the Ansung and Jeonju city. but the upstream of the river showed clean water quality, so if we use the upstream water as river maintenance water for water quality improvement, it is expected to be positive effect for rural environmental aspect.

여의도 샛강 흐름 정체와 수질악화 원인 분석 (Analysis of the Causes of Flow Stagnation and Water Pollution in Yeouido Saetgang River)

  • 도시지역 샛강은 생물이 서식하기 어려운 도심지에 다양한 수변공간을 제공하여 생물다양성에 중요한 역할을 하며, 시민들에게는 휴식 및 체험 공간으로 활용되고 있다. 특히, 여의도 샛강은 국내 최초의 생태공원으로 조성되었으며, 서울 도심 중심에 흐르고 있어 장소적 희소성이 크고 생태적 가치가 매우 높다. 그러나 여의도 샛강은 조성 당시부터 수질 문제가 지속적으로 제기되어 오고 있어, 샛강 환경에 영향을 미치는 요소들과 그 원인에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 여의도 샛강 흐름 정체와 수질 악화 원인을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 하천 측량 및 항공사진 분석을 통해 자연적인 물 순환이 어려운 원인에 대해 분석하고 고찰하였다. 한편, 여의도 샛강의 수질 모니터링 결과, 비가 오지 않는 평상시에는 BOD, T-P는 평균 III등급과 IV 등급 수준으로 나타났으며, 강우 시에는 BOD, T-P 모두 V~VI 등급인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 배수분구 분석을 통해 샛강 수질에 영향을 미치는 소유역을 선정하였으며, 결과에 대해 고찰하였다.

환경오염공정시험기준과 KS ISO규격의 일원화에 관한 연구 - 먹는 물 및 실내공기질 - (Study on the unification between KS I ISO standard and official test method enacted by Korean Ministry of Environment - drinking water and indoor air quality -)

  • 현행 환경오염공정시험기준 중 먹는 물 수질공정시험기준과 실내공기질 공정시험기준에 대해 국제규격에 부합화된 KS ISO규격과의 일원화에 관해 연구하였다. KS규격 23,000여종을 대상으로 먹는 물 및 실내공기질관련 KS 규격을 조사하였다. 환경분야관련 KS규격은 KS I로 분류되며, 총 653종으로 조사되었으며, 이중 국제규격에 부합화된 KS I 규격은 583종으로 조사되었다. 먹는 물 수질공정 시험기준은 총 100개 기준을 대상으로 ISO/TC 147 "Water Quality" 관련 KS 규격 총 232종을 비교 검토하였으며, 실내공기질 공정시험기준은 "ISO/TC 146 "Air Quality" 관련 KS 규격 총 95종 규격을 비교 검토하였다. 문헌검토와 비교시험을 통해 먹는 물 및 실내공기질 공정시험기준과 일원화 가능한 국제규격에 부합화된 KS규격 연구결과 먹는물수질공정시험 100개 기준 중 사전일원화 완료 23개 기준, 일원화 가능 29개 기준, 일원화 불가 12개 기준, 대응 규격 없는 기준이 36개로 평가되었으며, 실내공기질 공정시험기준 17개 기준 중 사전일원화 완료 1개 기준, 일원화 가능 3개 기준, 일원화 불가 3개 기준, 대응규격 없는 기준이 10개 기준으로 평가되었다.

수질변동성 평가를 통한 지류총량제 도입 대상유역 선정에 관한 연구: 충청남도를 중심으로 (A Study on the Selection of the Total Pollution Load Management at Tributaries by Evaluation of Water Quality Volatility: Case Study for Chungcheongnam-do)

  • Chungcheongnam-do has been measuring the flow rate and water quality of streams in the province once a month since 2011 in order to water environment policies. Based on the results, after evaluating the coefficient of variation and the tendency of the water quality trend by using the Mann-Kendall test and Sen's Slope for each stream, the streams subject to priority introduction of Total Pollution Load Management at Tributaries were selected through the Stream Grouping Method. The water quality trend analysis results for 125 streams using the Mann-Kendall test and Sen's Slope were evaluated as streams showing a tendency of deteriorating water quality Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD): 13 streams, Total Phosphorus (T-P): 16 streams). Streams with deteriorating water quality were classified into A-D groups using the Stream Grouping Method. Group A, which has a high flow rate and high water quality, is a stream that requires priority management, and was selected as a stream for introduction of Total Pollution Load Management at Tributaries. There are 7 streams that need to be introduced into the BOD category, and there are 7 streams that need to be introduced into the T-P category. In this study, based on flow and water quality monitoring data accumulated over a long period of time (2011-2022), statistical techniques are used to select watersheds in which water quality is deteriorating. Accordingly, it is expected that it will be useful in establishing a water quality improvement plan in the future.

LC/MS/MS를 이용한 유기인계 농약류의 최적 분석법 정립과 원·정수에서의 모니터링 (Development of Analytical Method and Monitoring of Organophosphorus Pesticides in the Raw Water and Clean Water by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry)

  • The analytical method for 16 organophosphorus pesticides was developed in this study. The 16 organophosphorus pesticides were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) using on-line solid phase extraction (on-line SPE) with PLRP- S cartridge. Analysis of all analytes in the MS/MS was processed in the electrospray ioni-zation (ESI) positive mode. They are Azinphos ethyl, Chlorfenvinphos, Ethion, Famphur, Phosmet, Phosphamidon, Terbufos, Aspon, Chlorpyrifos-methyl, Crotoxyphos, Dichlofenthi-on, Dicrotophos, Fonofos, Thionazin, Dimethoate and Iprobenfos. Limits of detection (LODs) and Limits of quantification(LOQs) were obtained as 0.8~2.0 ng/L and 2.6~6.4 ng/L, respectively. All compounds were not detected at the 8 sampling points of the raw water and clean water.

Development of Water Quality Modeling in the United States

  • The modern era of water quality modeling in the United States began in the 1960s. Pushed by advances in computer technology as well as environmental sciences, water quality modeling evolved through five broad periods: (1) initial model development with mainframe computers (1960s - mid 1970s), (2) model refinement and generalization with minicomputers (mid 1970s - mid 1980s), (3) model standardization and support with microcomputers (mid 1980s - mid 1990s), (4) better model access and performance with faster desktop computers running Windows and local area networks linked to the Internet (mid 1990s - early 2000s), and (5) model integration and widespread use of the Internet (early 2000s - present). Improved computer technology continues to drive improvements in water quality models, including more detailed environmental analysis (spatially and temporally), better user interfaces and GIS software, more accessibility to environmental data from on-line repositories, and more robust modeling frameworks linking hydrodynamics, water quality, watershed and atmospheric models. Driven by regulatory needs and advancing technology, water quality modeling will continue to improve to better address more complicated water bodies and pollutant types, and more complicated management questions. This manuscript describes historical trends in water quality model development in the United States, reviews current efforts, and projects promising future directions.

도시 하천에서의 어류 폐사 원인 분석 II - 자동수질측정장치 및 수질모델의 사용 (Causes of Fish Kill in the Urban Stream and Prevention Methods II - Application of Automatic Water Quality Monitoring Systen and Water Quality Modeling)

  • This study focused on the causes of fish kills and its prevention methods in Yudeung Stream, Daejeon, Korea. Intense field data, continuous water quality monitoring system and water quality modeling were applied to analyze the causes. Pollutant can be delivered to urban streams by surface runoff and combined sewer overflows in rainfall events. However, water quality analysis and water quality modeling results indicate that the abrupt fish kills in the Yudeung stream seems to be caused by combined effect of DO depletion, increase in turbidity and other toxic material. Excessive fish population in the study area may harm the aesthetic value of the stream and also has greater potential for massive fish kills. It is suggested to implement methods to reduce delivery of pollutants to the stream not only to prevent fish kills but also to keep balance of ecosystem including human uses. Frequent clean up of the urban surface and CSO, installation of detention basin will be helpful. In the long run, it seems combined sewer system has be replaced with separate sewer system for more effective pollutant removal in the urban area.

Multi regression analysis of water quality characteristics in lowland paddy fields

  • Drainage water in lowland paddy fields is quantitatively influenced recycle and/or repeated irrigation by irrigation facilities, i.e. pumps, check gates, small reservoirs and so on. In those drainage channels, nutrients accumulation and increasing organic matters are considered to be occurred, and water quality would be degraded not only environmental aspect but irrigation purpose. In general, Total Nitrogen (T-N) is interested water quality index in irrigation water, because high nitrogen concentration sometimes caused decreasing rice production by excess growth and fallen or degrading quality of taste, then, farmers would like to clear water less than 1mg/L of T-N concentration. In drainage channel, it is known that the nitrogen concentration change is influenced by physical, chemical and biological properties, i.e, stream or river bed condition, water temperature, other water quality index, and plant cover condition. In this study, discharge data (velocity and level) in a drainage channel was monitored by an Acoustic Doppler system and water quality was sampled at same time in 2011. So those data was analyzed by multi regression model to realize hydrological and environmental factors to influence with nitrogen concentration. The results showed the difference tendency between irrigation and non-irrigation period, and those influenced factors would be considered in water quality model developing in future.

천안/아산권역내 곡교천의 수질분석 및 지리정보체계를 이용한 유역 오염원 관리방안에 관한 연구 (Water-Quality Analysis for Gokgyo Stream in Chonan Asan Region and Pollution Source Control Strategy Using GIS)

  • Chonan and Asan city have been a focal point due to rapid development as the first station for Express Railroad and key cities West Coast Development Region. Gokgyo stream adjacent to the cities plays an important role as a drainage channel for an agriculture and a discharger of urban storm water. Waster quality of the stream has been deteriorating caused by pollution sources such as a untreated wastewater discharge and runoff from the watershed. In the study, we conducted 4 surveys in April, May, July, and September to understand the current state of water quality for the stream and to make it possibe to predict future water-quality variation for future development. The system runs on a personal computer under the windows enviroment and provides extensive graphic user interface(GUI) for user-friendly assessment. Using the pull-down menus provided by the GUI panel, the user is able to operate the system by pointing and clicking the icon to identify the state of water-quality at locations concerned. Furthermore, we developed an integrated watershed management system. The constructed system could be a useful tool as a decesion maker for pollution source control strategy.
