[ $1m^3$ ] solid hydrate contains up to $200m^3$ of natural gas, depending on pressure and temperature. Such large volume of natural gas hydrate can be utilized to store and transport large quantity of natural gas in a stable condition. So, in the present investigation, experiments carried out for the formation of natural gas hydrate governed by pressure, temperature, and gas compositions, etc.. The results show that the equilibrium pressure of structure II natural gas hydrate) is approximately 65% lower and the solubility is approximately three times higher than structure I methane hydrate). Also, the subcooling conditions of the structure I and II must be above 9K and 11K in order to form hydrate rapidly regardless of gas components, but the pressure increase is more advantageous than the temperature decrease in order to increase the gas consumption. And utilizing nozzles for spraying water in the form of droplets into the natural gas dramatically reduces the hydrate formation time and increases its solubility at the same time.
Lipid emulsions with saturated triacylglycerols (TAGs) with 4 to 10 carbons in each acyl chain were prepared to study how the oil component alters the stability of the lipid emul-sions when phosphatidylcholines were used as emulsifiers. The average droplet size of the emul-sions became smaller as the chain length of the TAG increased. For a given oil emulsion with smaller droplets was formed with an emulsifier having higher HLB value. The influence of HLB values on the droplet size was biggest for the tributyrin (C4) emulsion. For the tricaprylin(C8) emulsions, droplet size was identical at given emulsifier concentrations regardless of HLB values. The HLB value and the concentration of the emulsifiers also affect the droplet size of the emul-sions. The emulsions with smaller average droplet size were more stable than with bigger size for 20 days. The oil and water (o/w) interfacial tension in inversely proportional to the initial droplet size of the emulsion.

We have used a novel liquid surface forces apparatus to determine the variation of disjoining pressure with film thickness for dodecane-water-dodecane emulsion films. The LSFA allows measurement of film thicknesses in the range 5-100 nm and disjoining pressure from 0-1500 Pa. Disjoining pressure isotherms are given for films stabilised by the nonionic surfactnat n-dodecyl pentaoxyethylene glycol ether$(C_{12}E_5)$ and n-decyl-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside($C_{10}- $\beta$-Glu)$ and the anionic surfactant sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulphosuccinate(AOT) in the presense of added electrolyte. For $C_{12}E_5$ and AOT, the emulsion films are indefinitely stable even for the highest concentration of NaCl tested (136.7 Nm) whereas the $C_{10}-{eta}-Glu$ film shows coalescence at this salt concentration. For film thicknesses greater than approximately 20 nm with all three surfactants, the disjoining pressure isotherms are reasonably well described in terms of electrostatic and van der Waals, forces. For the nonionic surfactant emulsion films, the charge properties of the monolayers are qualitatively similar to those seen for foam films. For AOT emulsion films, the monolayer surface potentials estimated by fitting the isotherms are similar to the values of the zeta potential measured for AOT stabilised emulsion droplets. For thin emulsion films certain systems showed isotherms which suggested the presence of an additional repulsive force with a range of approximately 20 nm.
The current trend in automotive finishing industry is to use more electrostatic rotating bell (ESRB) need space to their higher transfer efficiency. The flow physics related with the transfer efficiency is strongly influenced by operating parameters. In order to improve their high transfer efficiency without compromising the coating quality, a better understanding is necessary to the ESRB application of metallic basecoat painting for the automobile exterior. This paper presents the results from experimental investigation of the ESRB spray to apply water-borne painting. The visualization, the droplet size, and velocity measurements of the spray flow were conducted under the operating conditions such as liquid flow rate, shaping airflow rate, bell rotational speed, and electrostatic voltage setting. The optical techniques used in here were a microscopic and light sheet visualization by a copper vapor laser, and a phase Doppler particle analyzer (PDPA) system. Water was used as paint surrogate for simplicity. The results show that the bell rotating speed is the most important influencing parameter for atomization processes. Liquid flow rate and shaping airflow rate significantly influence the spray structure. Based on the microscopic visualization, the atomization process occurs in ligament breakup mode, which is one of three atomization modes in rotating atomizer. In the spray transport zone, droplets tend to distribute according to size with the larger drops on the outer periphery of spray. In addition, the results of present study provide detailed information on the paint spray structure and transfer processes.

We fabricated multi-scale such as macro-, micro-, and multi-scale wrinkles by using repetitive volume dividing (RVD) method and thermal curing process. Also wrinkle surface was modified with coating of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). We measured the contact angle of each wrinkled surface, and observed the behavior of droplets on sloping surface. Through experimental study, we found out that the contact angle was much higher in case of multi-scale and SAM coated wrinkles. And micro-scale wrinkle showed a high contact angle comparing with that of macro-scale wrinkle. Dynamic behaviors of a water droplet like sliding velocity on diverse wrinkled surfaces were dependent on their static contact angles. These results showed that hydro-dynamic characteristics were changed depending on the wrinkle structure and the material forming the wrinkle. These dynamic characteristics can be utilized in bio-chip, microfluidics, and many others in order to control easily chemical reactivity.

Honeycomb-patterned polyvinypyrrolidone (PVP) thin films coated with nanometer-sized silver particles were prepared using honeycomb-patterned polystyrene (PS) template films fabricated by casting a polystyrene solution under humid condition. Silver was first metallized on the patterned PS films via silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$) reduction using tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and a small amount of PVP as the reductant and dispersing agent, respectively. The effects of $AgNO_3$, TTF, and PVP solution concentrations during the reduction process in acetonitrile were determined to obtain a uniform silver-coated honeycomb-patterned PS film. Second, the silver-metallized patterned porous PS films were filled with high PVP concentration solutions via the spincoating process. Silver-coated patterned PVP films were obtained by peeling off the PVP layer from the template PS film after drying. The results show that the honeycomb-patterned PVP films uniformly coated with silver particles are conveniently obtained using the silver-coated patterned PS template, although the direct fabrication of these films using water droplets under humid conditions was not feasible because of the water solubility of PVP.

The bilayer forming ability of pseudo-ceramide PC104 in octanoic acid/water/n-octyl $\beta$-D-glucoside mixtures was investigated through the phase diagram. Because of its low solubility in water and of its crystallization, pseudoceramide PC104 was dissolved in octanoic acid, which is nontoxic additive for foods and cosmetics. The mixtures formed four different phases (L1, L2, LC and two phases). Depending on the concentration of PC104 in octanoic acid, the region of each phase was extended or contracted. On the contrary to the region of L2, regions of lamellar phase and L1 phase were expanded. The bilayer-forming ability of PC104 was explained on the basis of concentration of PC104 at interface and interaction between PC104 and octanoic acid. From FT-IR results, it was found that the interactions of PC104’s polar head group with octanoic acid increased as the amount of PC104 in octanoic acid increased. Also emulsion size and size distribution have been studied depending upon the emulsification path. droplets of emulsion prepared from lamellar phase were smaller and more homogeneous compared to those of emulsions formed from L2 phase.
The effects of mixing vanes (MVs) attached to a grid spacer on the characteristics of air-water annular flows were experimentally investigated. To know the effects, a grid spacer with or without MV was inserted in a vertical circular pipe of 16-mm internal diameter. For three cases (i.e., no spacer, spacer without MV, and spacer with MV), the liquid film thickness, liquid entrainment fraction, and deposition rate were measured by the constant current method, single liquid film extraction method, and double liquid film extraction method, respectively. The MVs significantly promote the re-deposition of liquid droplets in the gas core flow into the liquid film on the channel walls. The deposition mass transfer coefficient is three times higher for the spacer with MV than for the spacer without MV, even for cases 0.3-m downstream from the spacer. The liquid film thickness becomes thicker upstream and downstream for the spacer with MV, compared with the thickness for the spacer without MV and for the case with no spacer.
The development and interaction of vortices over a delta wing with leading edge extension (LEX) was investigated through off-surface flow visualization using micro water droplets and a laser beam sheet. Angles of attack of $20^{\circ}$ and 24$^{\circ}$ were tested at sideslip angles of $0^{\circ}$, $-5^{\circ}$, and $-10^{\circ}$ The flow Reynolds number based on the main-wing root chord was $1.82{\times}10^{5}$. The wing vortex and the LEX vortex coiled around each other while maintaining comparable strength and identity at a zero sideslip. The increase of angle of attack intensified the coiling and shifted the cores of the wing and LEX vortices inboard and upward. By sideslip, the coiling, the merging and the diffusion of the wing and LEX vortices were increased on the windward side, whereas they were delayed significantly on the leeward side. The present study confirmed that the sideslip angle had a profound effect on the vortex structure and interaction of a delta wing with LEX, which characterized the vortex-induced aerodynamic load.

The ignition and combustion characteristics of CWS droplets were investigated in the postflame region generated by a flat burner. The effect of radiation by screen and heating eleements ws taken into account. Also the theoretical claculations considering the temporal temeprature variation have been performed and compared with experimental results. The ignition delays were reduced by the radiation of the screen or heating elements. Therfore the radiation was considered to play some role in predicting the ignition delay.
