Concrete tracks are superior to ballast tracks in the aspect of durability, maintenance and safety. However, deteriorated stiffness of railroad bed and settlement of soft ground induced by trapped or seepage water lead to problems in safety of train operation. In this research, characteristic stiffness of concrete tracks, which is determined from FRACTAL (Flexural-Rigidity Assessment of Concrete Tracks by Antisymmetric Lamb Waves) technique, was employed as an index of track displacement. The characteristic stiffness is defined using Poisson's ratio, moment of inertia and stiffness ratio of subgrade to slab. To verify validity and reliability of the proposed characteristic stiffness, experimental and theoretical researches were performed. Feasibility of the characteristic stiffness based on FRACTAL technique was proved at a real concrete track for Korean high-speed trains. Validity of the FRACTAL technique was also verified by comparing the results of impulse-response tests performed at the same measurement array and the results of SASW tests and DC resistivity survey performed at a shoulder nearby the track.

This paper describes the results of the development of the submarine Free Running Model (FRM). First, the goal of development was set based on the test conditions and the test environment, and the system was obtained accordingly. The target submarine, Joubert BB2 submarine, was selected with a scale of 18.35 in accordance with the development goal. In order to conduct a submarine FRM test underwater, where communication is impossible, the FRM must operate at least semi-autonomously. For this purpose, an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) based underwater integrated navigation system and control system using a sailplane and an X-shaped sternplane were designed respectively. In addition, a ballast system was designed to enable the model to float to the water surface in case of an emergency. To verify its propulsion, navigation, and control performance, the FRM tests were conducted in both indoor and outdoor basins. As a result, the relationship between propeller RPM and vehicle speed was derived, and it was confirmed that the navigation and control performance met the target value.

Incheon Bridge is 13.38 km long with an 800 m span, connecting Incheon International Airport and Songdo International City, Per hour 73.8 vessels navigate this space. The purpose of this study was to suggest a safe passing speed based on the displacement of a vessel based on the safety criteria of Incheon Bridge's anti-collision fence, which was designed during its initial construction. As AASHTO LRFD suggested, vessel collision energy, vessel collision velocity, and the hydrodynamic mass coefficient were considered to derive a safe vessel traffic speed. Incheon Bridge's anti-collision fence was designed so that 100,000 DWT vessels can navigate at a speed of 10 knot. This research suggests a safe speed for vessel traffic through a comparative analysis of an experimental ship's (300,000 DWT) speed and cargo conditions, regulation speed has been calculated according to the collision energy under each set of conditions. Additionally, safe traffic vessel's safe speed was analyzed with reference to tidal levels. Results from the experimental ship showed that a vessel of maximum 150,000 DWT is able to pass Incheon Bridge at a maximum of 7 knots with an above average water level, and is able to pass the bridge with a maximum of 8 knots under ballast conditions.
Though stringent guidelines are in place to protect the harbor environment, pollution from ships, from the ports terminals. Discharge from the ballast tanks of ships, though illegal, does occur. Such vessels, arriving from distant ports of call, can introduce exotic species of plants and animals, causing disruption of the local food web. Discharges rich in nitrogen can generate the rapid growth of plankton, eventually leading to a condition known as red tide that is lethal to some coastal organisms. In addition to the harbor's negative effects on marine organisms, the diesel engines of the ships and the trucks that haul cargo to and from the ports release large volumes of diesel exhaust into the atmosphere. IMO(International Maritime Organization) is strongly proceeding with adoption of a new maritime environment convention and coming into effect for regulation enhancement about the pollutants which are happened in a ship recently. Study about the conventions that our country currently comes into effect, and there is during forwarding and correspondence must be performed effectively. In this paper, International convention on the control of harmful Anti-Fouling system on ship, Ballast water management, Prevention of air pollution from ships, treat a main pending problem in ocean related environmental regulation convention.

Vibrio cholerae is a very important pathogenic bacterium that has to be monitored in seafood and ships' ballast water. Various methods have been developed to identify this bacterium, yet these methods are time-consuming and have limitations for their sensitivity to detect contamination. The purpose of the present study was to develop a robust and reliable method for identifying V. cholerae. Peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes were developed to use for PNA-based asymmetrical real-time PCR techniques. The toxigenic Cholera enterotoxin subunit B (ctxB) gene was selected as a target for detecting V. cholerae and the gene was synthesized as a positive template for conventional and real-time PCR. Real-time PCR primers and PNA probes were designed and standard curves were produced for the quantitative analysis. The selected PNA probes reacted specifically to V. cholerae without any ambiguity, even among closely related species, and the detection limit was 0.1 cfu/100 mL. Taken together, the PNA probes and asymmetrical qPCR methods developed in this present study could contribute to the rapid, accurate monitoring of V. cholerae in marine environments, and as well as in seafood and ships' ballast waters.

The treated water inside the ballast electrolytic cell creates a highly alkaline atmosphere due to hydroxide generated at the DSA(Dimension Stable Anode) electrode during electrolysis. In this study, a composite material that can replace the weakness of the PE-coated steel pipe used in the existing ballast pipe was prepared. The test samples are BRE(Basalt fiber reinforced epoxy), BRP(Basalt fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester), GRE(Glass fiber reinforced epoxy), and GRP(Glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester). And then it was immersed in NaOH for 720 hours. The friction test of each specimen was conducted. The Friction coefficient analysis according to material friction depth and interfacial adhesion behavior between resin and fiber were analyzed. As a result, the mechanism of interfacial separation between resin and fiber could be analyzed. In the case of the unsaturated polyester resin with low interfacial bonding strength the longer the immersion time in the alkaline solution, the faster the internal deterioration caused by the deterioration that started from the surface, resulting in a decrease in the friction coefficient. It is hoped that this study will help to understand the degradation behavior of composite materials immersed in various chemical solutions such as NaOH, acid, and sodium hypochlorite in the future.

This study aims to analyze the performance of a submersible fish cage which was designed for developing an economical cage system can be applied in korean aquaculture environment easily. To analyze the performance of the designed cage a model test was carried out. In the test, inclination changes of the upper frame and mooring tensions of model cage were measured during the submerging and surfacing motion in still water and wave condition (period: 2s, wave height: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3m). As a result, in the still water condition the model cage kept horizontal balance and inclination degree of the upper frame was about $1^{\circ}$. In the wave condition, the model cage showed bilateral symmetric up-and-down motion but the average inclination degree of the upper frame was about $0^{\circ}$. When the model cage reached at a depth of 1m, the up-and-down motion of the cage was decreased by 12% compared with that of at the surface (period 2s, height 0.3m). In the same wave condition, the maximum and average line tension under the bottom position were about 8% and 11% respectively compared with that of at surface.

In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of the system that is predicting the failure of ballast water treatment system by analysing its sensor datum and is reserving the most effective service center for sellecting the repair location on the way to the destination port. These data are collected in real time during draining or filling up the sea water from/to the ship, and it is essential to preliminarily repair the equipment showing unstable characteristics by analyzing the normal and abnormal data characteristics. We proposed a software platform for predicting and repairing faults by selecting the most efficient repair center based on this e-Navigation while the vessel is navigating to the next destination port. This system, as announced by the IMO Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution in 2017, provides a stable economic impact from stable cargo operation and stable out/in from/to port and marine ecosystem.
The keel attached on bottom of hull part prevents yacht from flowing sideway by sailing posture. The keel remove a heel moment and make the force of stability. The selection of suitable keel is important bemuse it has an influence on the safety. Also the appendage attached on bottom of keel part lower ballast weight center and have influence on hull stability. The optimum shape about the keel is very important. So this study has compared with characteristics of resistance depending on the shape of the lower part of fin keel in the same surface of water submersion, we have attached three different types of models of lower part of fin keels to the model ships using circulating water channel and analyzed resistance characteristics per shape to arrive at the optimum shape of reduction of resistance.
Rectangular box type structures are used in many fields of civil, mechanical and marine engineering. Especially, Most ship structures are often in contact with inner or outer fluid, like ballast, fuel and stem tanks. Fatigue damages are sometimes observed in these tanks which seem to be caused by resonance with exciting force of engine and propeller. Vibration characteristics of these thin walled tanks in contact with fluid near engine and propeller are strongly affected by added mass of containing fluid. Therefore it is essentially important to estimate the added mass effect to predict vibration of the tanks. Many authors have studied vibration of rectangular tanks containing fluid. Few research on dynamic interaction among tank walls filled with fluid are reported in the vibration of rectangular tanks recently. In case of rectangular tanks, structural coupling between adjacent panels and effect of vibration modes of multiple panels on added mass of water have to be considered. In the previous report, a numerical analysis is performed for the coupling effect between panels of a tank on added mass of containing fluid, the effect of structural constraint between panels on each vibration mode for fluid region, and mode characteristics in accordance with changing breadth of the plates by using finite element method for plates and boundary element method for fluid region. In this paper, the coupling effect between panels of a tank on added mass of containing fluid, the effect of structural constraint between panels on each vibration mode for fluid region, and mode characteristics in accordance with changing length, thickness, and boundary condition of the plates are investigated numerically and discussed.
