자동차 폐기물을 활용한 업사이클링 패션 디자인 개발 (Development of Upcycling Fashion Design Using Automotive Waste)

  • This study aimed to enhance public awareness of the growing issue of automobile waste and promote environmental protection by developing visually appealing and innovative clothing designs. By leveraging successful examples of upcycled fashion design and products that could recycle automobile waste, this study proposed four garment designs utilizing various materials such as seat belts, leather seat fabrics, and airbags from automobile waste. Ultimately, two of these garments were produced as physical prototypes. Findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, the development of upcycled fashion products utilizing automotive waste opened new possibilities for sustainable fashion design. This approach demonstrates potential to meet demands of modem consumers who prioritize environmental values and social responsibility. Second, the study established an important foundation for understanding market acceptance and consumer perception of upcycled fashion products using automotive waste. As consumer awareness of environmental protection grows and demand for sustainable products increases, these upcycled products are likely to gain significant traction in the fashion industry.

Properties of Wollastonite-Reinforced Glass-Ceramics Made from Waste Automobile Glass and Waste Shell

  • Wollastonite-type glass ceramics were prepared by milling and firing at various temperatures using an automobile waste glass and waste shell as starting materials. Powder mixture ground by disk-type ball mill for 3 hours was pressed into a disk. The pressed specimen was fired at $850^{\circ}C$,$950^{\circ}C$ and $1050^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour in air. From FE-SEM observation, with an increase of the firing temperature from $850^{\circ}C$ to $1050^{\circ}C$, whisker-type phase was grown to about 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in length. Specimen fired at $1050^{\circ}C$ showed the formation of well-crystallized whisker-type wollastonite grains and the highest compressive strength.

폐윤활유와 Polystyrene 혼합물의 비등온 열분해반응 특성 (Non-isothermal Pyrolysis Characteristics of the Mixture of Waste Automobile Lubricating Oil and Polystyrene)

  • 본 연구에서는 열중량 분석법을 이용하여 희분식 반응기에서 승온속도를 0.5, 1.0 및 $2.0^{\circ}C/min$로 변화시키면서 폐용활유와 polystyrene 혼합물의 열분해반응 속도실험을 수행하였다. 미분법을 이용하여 폐윤활유/polystyrene 혼합물의 열분해 전환율이 1%에서부터 100%일때까지의 활성화에너지 및 반응차수를 구하였다. 폐윤활유와 polystyrene을 혼합하여 열분해할 경우 각각을 열분해할 때보다 낮은 온도에서 열분해반응이 진행되었으며 열중량 변화곡선의 기울기변화는 크게 두 부분으로 구분되었다. 폐윤활유/polystyrene 혼합물의 열분해 생성 오일의 탄소수를 분석했을 때 styrene 단량체와 이량체에 해당하는 탄화수소화합물의 선택성이 매우 높게 나타났다.

  • A steam Rankine cycle was considered to recover waste heat from the exhaust gas of an automobile. Conceptual design of a swash plate type expander was practiced to convert steam heat to shaft power. With the steam pressure and temperature of 35 bar and $300^{\circ}C$ at the expander inlet, respectively, the expander was estimated to produce the shaft power output of about 1.93 kW from the exhaust gas waste heat of 20 kW. The expander output increased linearly accordingly to the amount of exhaust gas waste heat in the range of from 10-40 kW, and the Rankine cycle efficiency was more or less constant at about 9.6% regardless of the waste heat amount.

폐자동차 유리의 재활용 현황 (Overview and Recycling of Waste Automobile Glass)

  • 유리는 고대시대부터 현재에 이르기까지 지속적으로 사용되고 있으며, 최근에는 최첨단 기술이 추가된 스마트 유리산업이 성장하고 있다. 이러한 스마트 유리는 라이프 사이클이 기존 유리보다 빠르기 때문에 교체 주기에 발맞춰서 재활용을 위해 보다 근본적이고 핵심적인 기술 개발이 필요한 상황이다. 스마트 유리 중에서 재활용 기술 개발이 가장 시급한 분야는 자동차 분야이며 자동차 폐차 시에 폐기되는 스마트 유리의 양은 연간 약 23,000톤 이상인 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내 자동차 유리의 현황을 살펴보고, 국내의 재활용 기술과 재활용 방안 등에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

  • Due to the urbanization, lots of people are living in cities. It is very convenient to live in the cities for the people but at the same time, the highly populated city has several environmental problems. During delivery process of large amount of municipal waste generated from the cities, the automobile emission and traffic jam have been occurred. The waste collection in the cities has been mainly done by using labour force and delivery truck. This is the conventional waste collection up to now. Recently, new technologies like automated waste collection system and capsule transportation have been introduced. Conventional waste collection mainly relied on the labour force and truck delivery does not need to invest a lot of money for the start-up. However, it requires to pay the operational cost both for the labour force and the truck delivery. On the contrary to this conventional waste collection, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation require high initial investment cost. However, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation can reduce significantly the pollutants emission, traffic jam by the waste trucks and actual waste collection cost per ton. In dealing with the waste collection in the cities, new waste collection technologies could be properly combined with the conventional waste collection for the effective municipal waste treatment.

  • Wastes such as shredder dust of disposed vehicles can be decomposed into low calorific flammable gases by Pyrolysis gasification. A stationary electric Power generation using an internal combustion engine fuelled with the waste-pyrolysis gas is an effective way to ease both waste management and energy saving issues. The waste-pyrolysis gas mainly consists of H$_2$, CO, $CO_2$ and $N_2$. The composition and heating value of the gas generated depend on the conversion process and the property of the initial waste. This research analyzed the characteristics of the combustion and the exhaust emissions in a premixed charge spark ignition engine fuelled with several kinds of model gases, which were selected to simulate the pyrolysis-gases of automobile shredder dusts. The influences of the heating value and composition of the fuel were analyzed parametrically. Furthermore, optical analyses of the combustion flame were made to study the influence of the fuel's inert gas on the flame propagation.

일반인과 전문가의 환경문제에 대한 위해도 인식 차이 (A Comparison of Environmental Risk Perceptions between General Public and Experts)

  • Differences in risk perception on major environmental issues between general public and environmental experts were investigated in this study. Questionnaire surveys were conducted to samples from general public and environmental experts during March and April, 2000. Total number of responses was 1,126 including 773 persons from general public and 353 experts. Risk perceptions on 26 environmental issues were related with the need to regulate each issue, controllability, experience, political views, interest in environmental problem, satisfaction of environment, severity of environmental pollution. There was statistically significant difference in risk perceptions between general public and experts. Overall, general public was likely to perceive risks associated with environmental problem, as well as social need to regulate these problems more than experts. The issues with high risk perception and need to regulate were 'automobile exhaust', 'industrial air pollution', ocean pollution by industrial waste and oil exhaust', 'air pollution by chemicals', 'surface water pollution by waste from household', 'industrial and hospital waste', 'surface water pollution by pesticide'and'sewage and food waste'. Consequently, it seems necessary to manage these issues, prior to others.

국내 사용 후 화학촉매제품의 재자원화 현황 및 향후 방향 (Status and Strategy on Recycling of Domestic Used Chemical Catalysts)

  • 화학촉매제품은 석유화학공정, 대기오염방지시설, 자동차 배기가스 정화 장치 등 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 국내외 화학촉매 시장은 매년 증가하고 있는 추세이며, 그에 따라 발생되는 폐촉매량도 증가하고 있다. 탈황 폐촉매, 자동차 폐촉매 등 대부분의 사용 후 화학촉매제품은 유가금속을 함유하고 있어 경제적 가치와 자원 확보 측면에서 매우 중요한 순환자원이다. 이에 일부 도시광산업체를 통해 유가금속을 회수하는 재자원화 공정이 상용화 되어 있고, 사용 후 SCR 탈질 촉매제품은 일부 재제조를 통해 자원순환되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 사용 후 화학촉매제품의 재자원화 산업 지원 정책 수립의 기초자료로 활용이 가능하도록 주요촉매제품별 국내 발생량 및 재자원화 현황을 조사 분석하였으며, 사용 후 화학촉매제품의 자원순환 활성화를 위한 발전과제를 제시하였다.

자동차 휠 도금박리폐액으로부터 질산 및 구리의 회수 (Recovery of Nitric acid and Copper from Plating Waste of Automobile Wheel)

  • 자동차용 고광택 크롬 도금 박리액에는 질산과 유가금속인 구리가 다량 함유되어 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 질산($HNO_3$) 및 유가금속은 고가이며 유독하므로, 경제 및 환경을 고려하여 반드시 회수하여 재활용하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 도금박리액으로부터 질산과 구리는 용매 추출법을 이용하여 후 분리하였다. 수상에 존재하는 질산의 농도는 0.01 ~ 1N NaOH를 이용하여 적정하여 분석하고, 금속의 농도는 ICP-MS 및 ICP-AES 등을 이용하여 분석하였다. 도금 박리액을 분석한 결과, 구리 이온은 76,850 mg/L이 함유되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 용액 내 질산의 양을 NaOH 용액을 이용하여 적정법으로 측정하였을 때 대략 1.02 M 임을 알 수 있었다. 50% Tributylphosphate (TBP)를 이용하여 3단 추출한 유기층의 용액을 증류수를 이용하여 각각 3회의 역추출을 하였을 때, 원액으로부터 48.1%의 질산을 회수할 수 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 순도는 99.9% 이상이었다. 질산 회수 후, 용액 내에 남은 구리는 PC 88A, D2EPHA, LIX 84 및 ISE 106을 이용하여 용매추출 하였으며, 각 용매의 추출률을 비교하였을 때, ISE 106의 경우, 1단 추출 후 30% 황산으로 역세척 하였을 경우, 92%의 구리를 회수할 수 있었다. 추출된 구리는 $N_2H_4$를 이용하여 환원시켰고, 다양한 조건 하에서 구리 분말을 제조하였다.
