염소와 황을 함유한 폐기물의 소각시 생성되는 유해 중금속류 결정에 대한 화학평형 계산 (An Equilibrium Analysis to Determine the Speciation of Metals in the Incineration of Waste Containing Chlorine and Sulfur)

  • An equilibrium analysis was carried out to determine principal species in the incineration of hazardous waste, which was assumed as a compound of hydrocarbon fuel, chlorine, sulfur, and heavy metals, and their behaviors with variation of temperature, chlorine and sulfur concentrations. Calculated results showed that the most important parameter influencing the principal species was temperature. Chlorine concentration affected on mole fractions of the species, especially at high temperature. Existence of sulfur had a significant effect on the species at low temperature, regardless of surfur concentration. Generally, principal species at high temperature were chlorides and oxides, while the principal species at low temperature were sulfides. As temperature increased, mole fractions of the principal species increased at low temperature, however, mole fractions of some metal species decreased at high temperature.

  • 폐유황으로부터 제조한 개질유황재료를 시멘트 대체 혼화재로 활용 가능성 여부를 알아보기 위한 연구의 일환으로 개질유황의 품질특성 및 혼화재료로 사용한 모르타르의 기초적 특성에 대하여 분석 및 검토한 결과 개질유황을 혼합한 모르타르의 유동성은 혼합률이 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며, 압축강도는 저하되었다. 또한, 개질유황을 15% 이내로 혼합한 모르타르의 휨, 인장 및 접착강도는 개선되었으며, 수축량은 증가하였다. 특히 내화학성은 혼합률이 증가함에 따라 우수한 저항성능이 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 개질유황을 시멘트 대체 혼화재로 활용 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

Design of Copper Alloys Preventing Grain Boundary Precipitation of Copper Sulfide Particles for a Copper Disposal Canister

  • The major concern in the deep geological disposal of spent nuclear fuels include sulfide-induced corrosion and stress corrosion cracking of copper canisters. Sulfur diffusion into copper canisters may induce copper embrittlement by causing Cu2S particle formation along grain boundaries; these sulfide particles can act as crack initiation sites and eventually cause embrittlement. To prevent the formation of Cu2S along grain boundaries and sulfur-induced copper embrittlement, copper alloys are designed in this study. Alloying elements that can act as chemical anchors to suppress sulfur diffusion and the formation of Cu2S along grain boundaries are investigated based on the understanding of the microscopic mechanism of sulfur diffusion and Cu2S precipitation along grain boundaries. Copper alloy ingots are experimentally manufactured to validate the alloying elements. Microstructural analysis using scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy demonstrates that Cu2S particles are not formed at grain boundaries but randomly distributed within grains in all the vacuum arc-melted Cu alloys (Cu-Si, Cu-Ag, and Cu-Zr). Further studies will be conducted to evaluate the mechanical and corrosion properties of the developed Cu alloys.

폐촉매 및 재활용 중간생성물의 물리화학적 특성 평가 (Physicochemical Characteristics of Waste Catalyst and Their In-Process Products from Recycling)

  • This research was conducted to estimate the physicochemical characteristics of waste catalyst and its in-process product from recycling and to suggest fundamental data for religious systems such as quality standards. Mo and V contents were increased from the waste catalyst to calcinated material and oxidized material. In the results of a heavy metals leaching test, Pb was not detected in any catalyst, calcinated and oxidized materials. Cu was not detected in the catalyst. However, it was detected in ${\leq}$1.16 mg/l for calcinated material and in 1.34~13.73 mg/l for $MoO_3$ oxidezed material. Concentrations in recycling in-process products (calcinated and oxidized materials) were higher than those of waste catalyst. Oil content of catalyst waste ranged from 0.01-14.03 wt%. Oil contents of calcinated and oxidized materials were greatly decreased compared to the catalyst waste. Carbon and sulfur contents as chemical poisoning material of catalyst waste ranged from 0.33-76.08 wt% and 5.00-22.00 wt%, respectively. The carbon contents of calcinated and oxidized materials showed below 20 wt%. The sulfur content showed below 8wt% for calcinated material and below 0.22 wt% for oxidized material.

폐타이어의 열분해를 통한 에너지화 : 폐폴리프로필렌 첨가 시 열분해 오일의 탈황 효과 (Energy Recovery via Pyrolysis of Waste Tire Rubber : Desulfurization Effect of Pyrolysis Oil by Adding Waste Polypropylene)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐타이어의 열분해 특성을 알아보기 위하여 유동층 반응기를 이용하여 450에서 $650^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 급속 열분해를 실시하였다. 반응 온도의 변화에 따른 열분해 오일의 특성을 관찰하고 특히 폐폴리프로필렌을 폐타이어와 혼합하여 열분해를 실시할 때 열분해 부산물 내 황의 거동을 살펴보았다. 열분해 오일의 수율은 반응 온도 $456^{\circ}C$에서 약 52wt.%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 생산된 오일의 GC-MS 분석 결과 반응 온도가 증가할수록 지방족 화합물의 함량은 줄어드는 반면 방향족 화합물의 함량이 급격히 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 주요 화합물은 리모넨(Limonene), 톨루엔(Toluene), 자일렌(Xylene), 스타이렌(Styrene), 트리메틸벤젠(Trimethylbenzene) 그리고 메틸나프탈렌류(Methylnaphthalenes)이었으며 미량의 황 화합물과 질소 화합물도 검출되었다. 폐폴리프로필렌을 폐타이어와 혼합 열분해 한 결과 열분해 오일 내 황의 함량이 급격히 감소하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

  • The worldwide trend of waste treatment technology is rapidly transferring from "incineration system" to "gasification & melting system" which can derive the resources from waste and charge no more environmental burden to nature. And therefore it is necessary to adopt gasification & melting system to prevent the land pollution and to solve the problem of landfill area. Among several thermal waste treatment processes gasification and melting system is the representative process which can transfer waste to resources such as syn-gas, molten slag, metal hydroxide, mixed salt and sulfur through the process of compaction, pyrolysis, gasification and melting.

생활폐기물매립장에서의 RDF 적응가능성에 대한 연구 (Study on applicability of RDF in Municipal Waste Landfill Site)

  • Results for application of RDF(Refuse Derived Fuel) to selected wastes in metropolitan and small and medium cities are as follows. The physical characteristics of waste are paper, plastic, food waste, and so on. The proximate analysis in P city showed 20.2% of moisture, 71% of combustible material, and 8.8% of ash on annual average. That in G city showed 31.6% of moisture, 59.5% of combustible material, and 8.9% of ash. Ultimate analysis in P city showed 52.04% of carbon, 7.02% of hydrogen, 28.80% of oxygen, 0.66% of nitrogen, and 0.09% of sulfur. Heating value was 3,363 kcal/kg. Ultimate analysis in G city showed 50.85% of carbon, 6.56% of hydrogen, 29.86% of oxygen, 0.79% of nitrogen, and 0.12% of sulfur. Heating value in the G city was somewhat lower than that in the P city with 2,632 kcal/kg. Thus, application of RDF in metropolitan city was more effective than that in small and medium cities. Heating value in mixture for the P city was lower than that in waste of the volume rate waste charge system alone by 143 kcal/kg. In proximate analysis, moisture, and combustible material were likely to be more adequate to RDF.

  • 혼합 호산성 박테리아를 이용하여 리튬이온 밧데리 산업 폐기물로부터 코발트와 리튬의 침출을 연구하였다. 혼합 호산성 박테리아의 성장기질은 단체 황 및 2가 철이온으로 구성되어 있으며 미생물에 의한 금속의 침출은 폐기물에 존재하는 금속과 황산이온의 양자 반응 때문에 일어난다. 본 연구에서 12일간 미생물 침출반응시 고상 폐기물중 코발트의 80%, 리튬의 20%가 용해되었으며 고액비가 높을수록 금속의 독성으로 인하여 미생물의 성장은 억제된다. 단체 황의 농도가 높을 조건에서는 일부 황 분말이 용해되지 않으며 금속의 침출속도는 황의 증가에 따라 감소한다.

폐타이어 재 자원화를 위한 연구 (A Study on Recycling of Waste Tire)

  • Compared to other waste, waste tire has much discharge quantity and calorie. When we use waste heat from waste tire, it can be definitely better substitute energy than coal and anthracite in high oil price age. To use as a basic data for providing low cost and highly effective heating system, following conclusion was founded. Annual waste tire production was 19,596 million in 1999, Recycling ratio was almost 55% and more than 8.78 million was stored. Waste tire has lower than 1.5% sulfur contain ratio which is resource of an pollution, So it is a waste fuel which can be combustion based on current exhaust standard value without any extra SOx exclusion materials. Waste tire has 9,256Kcal/kg calorific value and it is higher than waste rubber, waste rubber, waste energy as same as B-C oil. When primary and second air quantity was 1.6, 8.0 Nm$^3$/min, dry gas production time was 270min and total combustion time was 360 min. In the SOx, NOx, HC of air pollution material density were lower than exhaust standard value at the back of cyclone and dusty than exhaust standard value without dust collector.
