An experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the strength characteristics of low cement ratio soil stabilizer. The low cement ratio soil stabilizer has been developed by the replacement of certain part of cement with by-product pozzolanic materials such as blast furnace slag, fly ash, waste gypsum and by using activator. A series of unconfined compressive strength tests were performed to investigate and obtain high-strength composite soil stabilizer with large amounts of blast furnace slag and fly ash. Test results show that there were better properties when blast furnace slag, fly ash, waste gypsum, and activator were added in proper ratio. The replacement of certain part of cement with by-product pozzolanic materials improved the strength and pore structure properties.
This study was carried out for the purpose of recovering the refined gypsum from waste phosphogypsum. The refined gypsum was recovered as a under product of 325 mesh wet screening followed by dehydration and hydration stage. The influence of dehydration temperature and time, dehydration rate, aging time, slurry density of hydration and sonication time on the yield and grade of gypsum were investigated. The refined gypsum of $94{\sim}96%$ grade is recovered in 95% yield by wet screening after selective dehydration and hydration process, from the phosphogypsum. For the better separation efficiency of gypsum, it is recommended to treat the phosphogypsum at the conditions of as follows; 6hr's dehydration at $140^{\circ}C$, hydration slury density of $3{\sim}10%$, hydration temperature of $20{\sim}30^{\circ}C$, hydration time of 2hr. In additions, addition of sodium citrate 0.005M and sonication of $5{\sim}10min.$ are effective for increase the recovery of gypsum. On the other hand, aging the dehydrated gypsum 16 hours or longer make decrease the recovery of gypsum remarkably.

This study aims to manufacture non-sintering cement(NSC) by adding phosphogypsum(PG) and waste lime(WL) to granulated blast furnace slag(GBFS) as sulfate and alkali activators. This study also investigates the basic physical properties and hydration reaction of NSC, and evaluates its reusing possibility as construction material. Results obtained from this study have shown that GBFS was affected by $So_4^{2-}$ in waste PG and stimuli under wet condition, left slag components, created Ettringite and CSH gels, and eventually started being hydrated. These hydrated creations formed dense structures like CSH based on Ettringite and contributed in allowing the mortar to reveal high strength.
In this study, mechanical properties of PVC complexes containing the gypsum (Namhae Chemical Co.) which contains phosphte, CaO, etc., Pb-species stabilizer, and $CaCO_3$ were investigated as a function or the content. As a result, mechanical properties increased when the gypsum was mixed with PVC at the extent of 8.46wt%. From this result, it is suggested that the gypsum containing phosphate and CaO is compatible with PVC. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) showed that pyrolysis started about at $275^{\circ}C$, and residual weight(%) increased with the amount of the gypsum, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that $T_m,\;T_g$ had the maximum and minimum value respectively when the gypsum was mixed with PVC at the extent of 8.46wt%. Comparing all the results, both mechanical and thermal properties of PVC complex were improved. The X-ray diffraction measurement also showed their blonds and structures.

We investigated the effects of heavy metals in cement in the last 3 years and the amount of waste in the cement manufacturing process. The result shows that the average $Cr^{6+}$ content in cement products is controlled at 10 mg/kg. Cu and Pb have lower detection tendency in white cement than in ordinary portland cement. In addition, heavy metals such as Cd show a certain level of detection regardless of the input wastes. Copper slag and phosphate gypsum are the main influencing factors on the heavy metals in cement products. In auxiliary fuels, plastics waste and wood waste are considered to affect heavy metals in cement products. Alternative raw materials are considered to be affected by the alternative raw materials managed as byproducts. In the case of supplementary fuels, auxiliary fuels managed as waste instead of auxiliary fuels managed as byproducts affect the heavy metals in cement. This study examined the input amount without considering the heavy metals in each waste. Therefore, the result may vary in different situations, and further research must be conducted to supplement the findings. However, if the heavy-metal contents in the waste are constant, it can be used as a reference material for the control of heavy metals in cement products.
Alinite-Calciumchloroaluminate system clinker was synthesized from solid state waste. The raw materials were municipal incineration ash, sewage sludge, limestone and clay. ecocement was prepared by the mixing of synthesized clinker and optimum amount of gypsum and its hydrolysis characteristic was investigated. X-ray diffraction, conduction calorimeter and reflecting microscope were used to analyze structural and physical properties. The main phase of clinker were alinite, calcium chloroaluminate. $C_2$S, $C_3$S. From the results of hardening time, hydration reactivity of synthesized all samples was faster than that of ordinary portland cement.

For the purpose of energy consumption and green-house gas reduction from building, new insulation materials with improved thermal property have been developed and used. Among new insulation materials, mineral hydrate which compensates for the defects of existing materials is using as a prominent insulation material. The fabrication method of mineral hydrate is similar to that of ALC for building structure but mineral hydrate is only used for insulation. The raw materials that make up of mineral hydrate are cement, lime and anhydrite. Especially anhydrite is all dependant on imports. In this study, Desulfurization Gypsum(DG), by-product of oil plant, was used for replacing for imported anhydrite and waste recycling. DG substituted all of anhydrite and a part of lime. Mineral hydrate used DG had analogous thermal and physical properties, compared to existing mineral hydrate.
The physical properties of chlorine-containing cement were analyzed to optimize the operational conditions when waste resources containing chlorine were used in the cement manufacturing process. Cement with clinker to gypsum weight ratios of 95:5 and 93:7 were manufactured. In addition, the iron modulus (IM) of clinker was set to 1.3, 1.5, and 1.7 to evaluate the burnability and physical properties of clinker. With constant chlorine content, increasing gypsum content resulted in a decrease in the 3 day-compressive strength, whereas the 28 day-compressive strength increased. In addition, flow and setting time also increased with increasing gypsum content. As the IM decreased, burnability was improved, free-CaO content decreased, alite and ferrite content increased, and compressive strength increased In particular, the compressive strength of IM 1.3 was approximately 14% greater than that of IM 1.7.
VOCs such as formaldehyde and benzene in a control chamber were adsorbed onto gypsum incorporating oyster shell powder, which was solidified and dried. VOC was first exposed in air and then gypsum mortar was placed in the chamber for 180 min for adsorption. The mortar was prepared with 0, 10, 30, and 50% of oyster shell powder. Two initial concentrations of VOCs including formaldehyde were $27.7{\sim}28.5mg/m^3$ or $175{\sim}150{\mu}g/m^3$. We found out that the initial concentrations did not seem to make any difference in adsorption performance but higher oyster content strongly led to higher adsorption. We used a convection-diffusion-adsorption model to compare the experiment. The model which considers diffusion coefficients of adsorbates and affinity of the adsorbents well represented the experimental data with a fair agreement.
