  • Orthogonal codes like Walsh and Golay codes may have large correlation value when they are not synchronized, hence they are seldom used in asynchronous CDMA systems. Wysocki[1] showed that by multiplying the original Walsh-Hadamard matrix with an orthogonal transformation matrix the resultant matrix sustains orthogonality between row vectors and their cross-correlation can be reduced. Soberly and Wysocki[2] proposed similar scheme on Golay codes. This implies that using the proper orthogonal transformation cross-correlation of Walsh and Golay codes can be reduced, and the transformed codes can be used for user separation in the CDAM reverse link. In this paper we discuss cross-correlation related parameters which affect the performance of an asynchronous CDMA link, and we investigate the correlation properties of the transformed codes. When we designed orthogonal transformation matrices for Walsh and Golay codes, we minimized the maximum value of aperiodic cross-correlation of the codes ($ACC_{max}$) or the mean square value of the aperiodic cross-correlation($R_{cc}$) with preserving the orthogonality of the modified codes. We also evaluate the asynchronous CDMA system that uses the transformed Walsh and Golay codes.

  • Jacket transforms are a class of transforms which are simple to calculate, easily inverted and are size-flexible. Previously reported jacket transforms were generalizations of the well-known Walsh-Hadamard transform (WHT) and the center-weighted Hadamard transform (CWHT). In this paper we present a new class of jacket transform not derived from either the WHT or the CWHT. This class of transform can be applied to any even length vector, and is applicable to finite fields and is useful for constructing error control codes.

  • The Multi-Code CDMA systems that are proposed as an effective transmission methodology in the IMT-2000 systems allow higher rate services under the IS-95 CDMA infrastructure. The Multi-Code CDMA systems convert the higher rate data into the lower rate by serial to parallel operation and spread the converted data streams by the multiple walsh codes, and its mobile receiver needs multiple walsh generators and data correlators to demodulate simultaneously multiple walsh code channels. Therefore, the number of data correlators is increased as the number of traffic channels increases. In this paper, we proposed the new structure of the data correlators using walsh overlay coding, the shared accumulator, and FWHT(Fast Walsh Hadamard Transform) algorithm for reducing the bottle-neck effect resulting the increase of the number of data correlators.

  • Herein, a new space-time block coding technique is proposed for a MIMO 2 × 2 multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) system to minimize the bit error rate (BER) in Rayleigh fading channels with reduced decoding complexity using ZF and MMSE linear detection techniques. The main objective is to improve the service quality of wireless communication systems and optimize the number of antennas used in base stations and terminals. The idea is to exploit the correlation product technique between both information symbols to transmit per space-time block code and their own orthogonal Walsh-Hadamard sequences to ensure orthogonality between both symbol vectors and create a full-rate orthogonal STBC code. Using 16 quadrature amplitude modulation and the quasi-static Rayleigh channel model in the MATLAB environment, the simulation results show that the proposed space-time block code performs better than the Alamouti code in terms of BER performance in the 2 × 2 MIMO system for both cases of linear decoding ZF and MMSE.

  • In typical MC-CDMA systems, different frequency-domain scrambling codes are randomly chosen from a given code set and then assigned to different subscriber stations using the same subcarrier set. When orthogonal codes are employed for the frequency-domain scrambling, the choice of the scrambling code does not affect the detection performance if the timing and frequency synchronizations are perfect and the channel characteristic is flat. However, in practical cases, inter-code interference often appears due to the broken code orthogonality. In this paper, the optimal order of allocating the orthogonal frequency-domain scrambling codes to new subscriber stations is derived under non-negligible timing offsets in MC-CDMA system.

  • Fast Walsh-Hadamard Transform algorithm is discussed for secreting digital signals in ISDN. 16 characters are used for the password to control the coefficients of FWHT. And it gives above $3\times10^{38}$ codes. The FWHT module in presented in machine language. So it is applicable to compact cipher system or firmware system. Computer simulation showed secreting characteristics in printed data for N=128.

  • The forward link of the 3 G CDMA system may become limited under the increasing of the number of users. The conventional channelization code, Walsh code, has not enough sizes for much possible non, therefore, the quasi orthogonal function(QOF), which process optimal cross-correlation with Walsh code, is considered. In this paper, we investigate quasi orthogonal function on Jacket matrices, which can lead lower correlations values and better performance in 3 G CDMA system. Moreover, to simple the detector and improve the BER performance, a novel detection for QOF CDMA system is proposed. Finally, the simple recursive generation of the bent sequences for QOF mask function is discussed.

  • Recently, the need for disaster-preventing broadcast has increased gradually to cope with natural disaster like earthquake and tsunami causing enormous losses of both life and property. In disaster-preventing broadcast system, the wake-up signal is used to alert user terminal and switch the current state of channel to the emergency channel, which is for the fast and efficient delivery of emergency information. In this paper, we propose the detection method of wake-up signal for disaster-preventing broadcast systems. The wake-up signals for disaster-preventing broadcast should have a good auto-correlation property in low power and narrow-band conditions that does not affect the existing digital television (DTV) system. The suitability of the m-sequence and complementary code (CC) is analyzed for wake-up signals according to signal to noise ratio. A wake-up signal is proposed by combining the direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technique and pseudo noise (PN) sequences such as Barker and Walsh-Hadamard codes. By using the proposed method, a higher detecting performance can be achieved by the spreading gain compared to the single long m-sequence and the Golay code.

  • In this paper, performance of the CPC(complex phase code) which is recently proposed as a practical phase encoding method for phase-code multiplexes holographic memory system is comparatively analyzed with those of the conventional phase codes such as PR(pure random code), RCE(random code with equality), WHM(Walsh Hadamard Matrix). In computer simulation, the size of an address bean is fixed at 32$\times$32 pixels and 0%-25% phase-error ratio in a pixel are intentionally added to the real phase values to consider the nonlinear phase-modulation characteristics of the practical spatial light modulator. From comparative analysis of crosstalks and signal-to-noise ratios for these phase codes by calculating auto-correlation and cross-correlation, it is found that the CPC have the lowest cross-correlation mean value of 0.021, the lowest standard deviation of 0.0113 and the highest signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of 27.4 among the four types of phase code. In addition, from the calculation of the number of all possible address beams for these four types of phase code as the size of the address beam is fixed to 3232 pixels, the CPC is found to have 6.334$\times$10$^{49}$ address beams, which are relatively higher number than that of the conventional phase codes.
