Optimization of Injection Molding to Minimize Sink Marks for Cylindrical Geometry (원통형 플라스틱 성형품의 싱크 마크를 최소화하기 위한 사출성형 조건의 최적화)

  • This paper describes the optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize sink marks. Sink marks, which refer to a small depression on the surface opposite a thick wall thickness, are often encounted in injection molded plastic parts. Part geometry, material properties and processing conditions during injection molding can affect the sink mark depth. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique. By actual injection molding using optimized mold and molding conditions, it confirmed that sink mark depth decreased zero compared to 1mm level in the conventional mold and process.

  • Recently, injection molding process became more popular than ever to produce large quantities of high precision products or optical products. Injection molding products can cause sensorial problems because of high birefringence or deformation from the residual stresses in the optical media. In the present study, we have focussed on the effect of holding and compression pressures on the optical anisotropy remaining in the MOD by examining the gapwise distribution of birefringence and extinction angle The effect of holding pressure was found to form the inner two birefringence peaks. But the effect of compression pressure on the birefringence distribution was found to make the uniform distribution near the center in the gap-wise direction. Finally, the value of the birefringence near the wall decreased as the mold temperature increased.

Experimental Study of Friction Drag Reduction in Turbulent Flow with Microbubble Injection (미소기포 주입에 의한 마찰저항 감소에 대한 연구)

  • For the experiment of the friction drag reduction by microbubble injection, a drag reduction water tunnel was specifically designed and made. Experimental apparatus and procedures were devised and developed for measuring the change of wall friction drag with microbubble injection. For fully-developed channel flows. the change of friction drag with important parameters of microbubble injection is investigated and the experimental data and results obtained are presented. The amount of friction drag reduction up to 25% is observed in the present study.

  • Experiments at the Japan Microgravity Center (JAMIC) have investigated the interaction between diffusion flames and solid surfaces Placed neat flames The fuel for the flames was $C_{2} H_{4}$ The surrounding oxygen concentration was 35$\%$ with surrounding air temperatures of $T_{a}$ : 300K. Especially, the effect of wall temperature on soot deposition from a diffusion flame Placed near the wall has been studied by utilizing microgravity environment, which can attain very stable flame along the wall. Cylindrical burner with fuel injection was adopted to obtain two dimensional soot distributions by laser extinction method. In the experiment two different wall temperatures. $T_{w}$=300, 800 K, were selected as test conditions The results showed that the soot distribution between flame and burner wall was strong1y affected by the wall temperature and soot deposition increases with decrease in wall temperature. The comparison among the values lot two different wall temperatures suggests that the change in thermophoretic effect is the most dominant factor to give the change in soot deposition characteristics.

  • According to the stringent exhaust emission regulation control of air fuel ratio is one of the most important issues on gasoline engine. Although many researches have been carried out to identify the fuel transport phenomena in a port fueled gasoline engine, complexity of fuel film behavior in the intake port makes it difficult. The fuel film behavior was investigated recently by using visualization method and these gave us qualitative understanding. In this paper, the quantitative measurement method for the port fuel film is studied by using Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector(FRFID). The mass of fuel film on the port wall was measured by using the methods of fuel injection off, injection on and regression. The Fuel film mass was increased with incresing load at the same engine speed.

  • Characteristics of methane direct-injection spark-ignition stratified combustion in lean hydrogen mixture were analyzed both in a single cylinder engine and in a constant volume combustion chamber. Combustion pressure and Instantaneous combustion chamber wall temperature during the combustion process were measured with a thin-film thermocouple and used in analyses of combustion and cooling loss. Results in this research show that the premixed hydrogen increases cooling loss to combustion chamber wall while achieving combustion promotion, and the combustion system is effective especially in lean mixture conditions. Analysis of flame propagation was also done with Schlieren photography in the constant volume combustion chamber.

Calculation of Fuel Spray Impingement and Fuel Film Formation in an HSDI Diesel Engine

  • Spray impingement and fuel film formation models with cavitation have been developed and incorporated into the computational fluid dynamics code, STAR-CD. The spray/wall interaction process was modeled by considering the effects of surface temperature conditions and fuel film formation. The behavior of fuel droplets after impingement was divided into rebound, spread and splash using the Weber number and parameter K(equation omitted). The spray impingement model accounts for mass conservation, energy conservation, and heat transfer to the impinging droplets. The fuel film formation model was developed by integrating the continuity, momentum, and energy equations along the direction of fuel film thickness. Zero dimensional cavitation model was adopted in order to consider the cavitation phenomena and to give reasonable initial conditions for spray injection. Numerical simulations of spray tip penetration, spray impingement patterns, and the mass of film-state fuel matched well with the experimental data. The spray impingement and fuel film formation models have been applied to study spray/wall impingement in high-speed direct injection diesel engines.

A Study on the Interior Characteristics of Healthcare Environment - Focused on the Internal Medicine in Busan - (병원의 실내환경 특성에 관한 연구 - 부산지역 내과병원을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the current interior conditions of internal medicines and the patients'responses to them. Data were collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consisted of 43 internal medicines in Busan. The data were analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings were as follows: (1) Most of the medicines had a size of 20-50 pyung(66-165$m^2$). The preferred size of internal medicine was 30-70 Pyung. (2) The typical layout of reception room, doctor's room, and injection room was L shape. (3) The most preferred room was waiting room and the worst one was injection room. (4) Painting and tile were mostly used as interior finishing materials. The patients preferred wall papers as wall and ceiling material, and marbles as floor material. Also, the most preferred interior images were modern, western, urban, open, simple, warm and popular images.

  • In generally, a high pressure fuel injection pipe has been often used as a fuel supply line in automobiles or other diesel engines. Such conventional high pressure fuel injection pipe, however, has suffered from the problem that is folding and hair cracks created therein. The defects can be locally formed in the inner wall surface of the pipe at the connecting head leading to a flow path when the pipe is deformed by the heading process. In the study, in order to prevent the folding in the inner wall surface of the pipe during the heading process, FE-analysis has been used in the die design.
