벽면에 충돌하는 슬롯형 제트와 원형 제트의 열전달 효과 비교 (Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Slot Jet and Circular Jets Impinging on a Flat Surface)

  • An experimental study was conducted to compare the heat transfer characteristics of an impinging slot jet and three kinds of impinging circular jets. Thermochromic liquid crystal with an image processing system was employed to measure the temperature of impinging wall where constant heat flux condition was applied. The distribution of convective heat transfer coefficients were then evaluated for eight nozzle-to-surface distance settings for each jet cases. The cooling effect was linearly proportional to the number of nozzles for circular jet cases at the same nozzle exit speed. However, the heat transfer under constant volume flow rate was the most at single circular jet. It was concluded that the overall convective heat transfer was better at the circular jets than the slot jet.

  • A single free jet formed by the interaction of two curved wall jets on a Cylinder surface is defined as "the Coanda nozzle jet" in this study.   • An experimental study has been performed on a three-dimensional boundary layer over a rotating disk with an impinging jet at the center of the disk. The objective of the present study is to investigate the turbulence statistics of the three-dimensional turbulent boundary layer, which may be regarded as one of the simplest models for the flow in turbomachinery. Six components of the Reynolds stresses and ten triple products are measured by aligning the miniature X-wire probe to the mean velocity direction. The ratio of the wall-parallel shear stress magnitude to twice the turbulent kinetic energy in the near-wall region is strongly decreased by the impinging jet. In the case of the free rotating disk flow the shear stress vector lags behind the mean velocity gradient vector in the whole boundary layer, while the lag is weakened as the impinging jet speed increases.

  • 평판 표면에 충돌하는 축대칭, 과소팽창 제트에 대한 실험적 연구가 수행되어졌으며, 벽압력 및 단열 벽온도 분포가 자세히 측정되어졌다. 벽온도 분포 결과에 대한 설명을 위하여 자유제트 내에서의 전온도 값을 전온도 탐침을 사용하여 측정하였다. 본 연구에서 실험 변수로는 과소팽창비와 노즐-평판간 거리가 고려되었다. 노즐-평판 간 거리에 따라 제트 경계 및 충돌면에서의 에너지 박리에 의해 서로 다른 형태의 단열 벽온도 분포가 나타났으며, 과소팽창비가 큰 경우, 중심영역에서의 저온 유체 입자의 고립효과로 정체점의 회복계수가 크게 낮아지는 현상 또한 관찰되었다.

  • Single-phase convection and nucleate boiling heat transfer were locally investigated for confined planar water jets. The detailed distributions of the wall temperature and the convection coefficient as well as the typical boiling curves were discussed. The curve for the single-phase convection indicated the developing laminar boundary layer, accompanied by monotonic increase of the wall temperature in the stream direction. Boiling was initiated from the furthest downstream as heat flux increased. Heat transfer variation according to the streamwise location was reduced as heat flux increased enough to create the vigorous nucleate boiling. Velocity effects were considered for the confined free-surface jet. Higher velocity of the jet caused the boiling incipient to be delayed more. The transition to turbulence precipitated by the bubble-induced disturbance was obvious only for the highest velocity, which enabled the boiling incipient to start in the middle of the heated surface, rather than the furthest downstream as was the case of the moderate and low velocities. The temperature at offset line were somewhat tower than those at the centerline for single-phase convection and partial boiling, and these differences were reduced as the nucleate boiling developed. For the region prior to transition, the convection coefficient distributions were similar in both cases while the temperatures were somewhat lower in the submerged jet. For single-phase convection, transition was initiated at $x/W{\cong}2.5$ and completed soon for the submerged jet, but the onset of transition was retarded to the distance at $x/W{\cong}6$ for the fee-surface jet.

연소성능 파라미터가 추력실의 막냉각 성능에 미치는 영향 (The Effect on the Film Cooling Performance of Thrust Chamber with Combustion Performance Parameters)

  • 액체 산소(LOx)와 Jet A-1(Jet engine fuel)을 추진제로 하는 소형 액체 로켓 연소기에서 막 냉각의 효과에 관한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 막 냉각제(Jet A-1과 물)는 막냉각장치를 통해 분사되도록 하였다. 막 냉각 유량 변화에 따른 연소기의 외벽온도 및 막 냉각 길이는 추진제 혼합비, 연소실 압력 및 막냉각장치의 형상 변화(분사각)에 따라 비교하였다. 막 냉각에 따른 특성속도 효율의 손실도 막 냉각제를 물과 Jet A-1을 사용하였을 경우에 대해서 각각 구하였다. 연소실 압력의 증가에 따라 노즐에서의 외벽 온도는 증가하였으나, 퍼센트 막냉각 유량이 9% 이상인 경우에 연소실에서는 거의 영향을 받지 않았다. 특성속도는 퍼센트 막냉각 유량이 9% 이상일 때 추진제 혼합비에 영향을 받지 않았다.

Engineering Applications of Jet Impingement Associated with Vertical Launching System Design

  • In the course of missile system design, jet plume impingement is encountered in designing airframe as well as launchers, requiring careful investigation of its effect on the system. In the present paper, recent works on such topic are presented to demonstrate usefulness of CFD results in helping design the hardware. The jet impinging flow structure exhibits such complex nature as shock shell, plate shock and Mach disk depending on the flow parameters. The main parameters are the ratio of the jet pressure to the ambient pressure and the distance between the nozzle and the wall. In the current application, the nozzle contour and the pressure ratio are held fixed, but the jet impinging distance is varied to illuminate the characteristics of the jet plume with the distance. The same methodology is then applied to a complex vertical launcher system (VLS), capturing its flow structure and major design parameter. These applications involving jets are thus hoped to demonstrate the usefulness and value of CFD in designing a complex structure in the real engineering environment.

  • A turbulent wake generated by a cylinder in nozzle contraction affects to the jet flow characteristics. In this study, a computational work to investigate the effect of the turbulent wake on two-dimensional subsonic jet was carried out with three different kinds of nozzle. Computations are applied to the two-dimensional unsteady, Navier-Stokes equations. Several kinds of turbulent models and wall functions are employed to validate the computational predictions. It was known that the wake flow enhanced the spread of the jet flow, compared with no wake flow condition. It was also found that the jet core is shortened by the wake flow developed from a control cylinder.

제트홴의 이격거리에 따른 터널내 환기특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Effects of the Distance between Jet Fans on the Ventilation Performance in a Road Tunnel)

  • The jet fan is generally used to add thrust in the longitudinal ventilation system of road tunnel and the geometric conditions of jet fan such as the distance from tunnel wall have an effect on the performance of ventilation system. Numerical analyses on the flow in tunnel caused by operation of jet fan are presented to study the ventilation characteristics in tunnel. While the distance between jet fans in parallel installed in tunnel is changed 0.5 L/D to 3.0 L/D, the flowrate and mean velocity through tunnel are calculated for each cases. As the distance between jet fans increases, the flowrate through tunnel increases asymptotically and the momentum of tunnel flow is alike.

  • An experimental model of the advanced mixing control in the parallel supersonic-subsonic mixing jet (M$_1$=1.78 and M$_2$=0.30) is numerically simulated. An oscillating wall boundary condition is used as the modeling of a wall cavity for mixing enhancement. The obtained pitot pressure distributions along cross sections at the developing region of the turbulent jets are validated from the good agreement with equivalent experimental data. The similarity solution of dimensional analysis also coincides with this numerical result at the self-similar region sufficiently far from the jet exit.
