휠체어 이동 및 조작 훈련을 통한 모의 대피훈련 향상 활동의 효과 (Effect of Simulation Evacuation Training Improvement Activity through Wheelchair Skill Training)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of simulation evacuation training improvement activity through wheelchair skill training. Methods: The study included 40 patients with early stroke who were randomly allocated to a wheelchair skill training group (Experimental group, n=20) and a general exercise group (Control group, n=20). Both groups performed the exercise 3 times a week for 3 weeks. Outcomes were assessed using Wheelchair Skills Test Skills Performance (WSTSP), Wheelchair Skills Test Skills Safety (WSTSS) and Wheelchair Propulsion Velocity (WPV). Results: After 3 weeks of training, both groups showed significantly improved WSTSP, WSTSS and WPV (p<.01 in both groups). However, the WSTSP, WSTSS and WPV in the experimental group were very significantly better than in the control group (p<.01). Conclusion: These findings indicate that wheelchair skill training may be effective at improving wheelchair skill ability and wheelchair propulsion velocity in stroke patients who cannot walk independently. Therefore, short-term wheelchair skill training could be useful for patient safety in simulated evacuation situations.

Evaluation of Short-Term Exposure Levels on Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide During Manure-Handling Processes at Livestock Farms

  • Background: Ammonia and hydrogen sulfide are harmful gases generated during aerobic/anaerobic bacterial decomposition of livestock manure. We evaluated ammonia and hydrogen sulfide concentrations generated from workplaces at livestock farms and determined environmental factors influencing the gas concentrations. Methods: Five commercial swine farms and five poultry farms were selected for monitoring. Real-time monitors were used to measure the ammonia and hydrogen sulfide concentrations and environmental conditions during the manure-handling processes. Monitoring was conducted in the manure storage facility and composting facility. Information on the farm conditions was also collected through interview and walk-through survey. Results: The ammonia concentrations were significantly higher at the swine composting facilities (9.5-43.2 ppm) than at other manure-handling facilities at the swine and poultry farms, and high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide were identified during the manure agitation and mixing process at the swine manure storage facilities (6.9-19.5 ppm). At the poultry manure-handling facilities, the ammonia concentration was higher during the manure-handling processes (2.6-57.9 ppm), and very low hydrogen sulfide concentrations (0-3.4 ppm) were detected. The air temperature and relative humidity, volume of the facility, duration of manure storage, and the number of animals influenced the gas concentrations. Conclusion: A high level of hazardous gases was generated during manure handling, and some levels increased up to risk levels that can threaten workers' health and safety. Some of the farm operational factors were also found to influence the gas levels. By controlling and improving these factors, it would be possible to protect workers' safety and health from occupational risks.

생활도로 보행환경 개선사업의 효과 연구 (Study on the Effects of Pedestrian Improvement Projects)

  • 이 연구에서는 보행환경 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 찾기 위하여 시민 283명을 대상으로 설문지를 이용하여 보행환경개선사업이 시행된 서울의 6개 지역을 선정하여 생활도로 보행 시 보행환경에 대한 만족도를 조사하였다. 리커트 5점 척도를 이용한 조사 결과 보행환경에 대한 만족도는 평균 2.88 표준편차 1.12인 것으로 조사되어 만족도가 낮은 수준임을 확인하였다. 보행환경 만족도와 세부항목들 사이의 상관관계를 분석한 결과 보행환경 만족도와 상관계수가 높은 세부항목은 보행시 안전성(0.640), 걷고 싶은 느낌(0.603), 보행시 쾌적성(0.601), 산책하거나 대화를 나누기에 적당함(0.586) 등인 것으로 분석되었다. 이 연구는 생활도로 보행환경 개선사업의 실효성을 높이기 위해서는 안전을 중시하면서도 시설물을 설치하는 데 머물기보다 쾌적한 환경을 조성하기 위한 보다 적극적인 개념의 생활도로 환경정비 기법을 적용해야 할 것이며 주민참여가 중요하다는 것을 확인하였다.

어린이 보행기 사용과 사고 실태조사 (Injury Associated with Baby Walker)

  • Baby walkers have been a major cause of injuries in young children. The main purpose of this study is to identify the pattern of injuries associated with baby walker. The data ore collected from May 13 to June 15, 1998 from 438 mothers who have used or are using baby walkers for their children aged average 6 month old(range 1-33 month). It was founded that 19.2%(84 infants) of these children had walker-related accidents. The types of injuries included ‘falling down’(52.4%), ‘tiping over’(21.4%), ‘being crashed into the wall’(17.9%), and burns(1.2%). These injuries predominantly involved the head and neck region(88%). The majority of injuries were minor, and most injuries occured at home with the mother present. The most common reason to use the baby walker was to keep the infant happy and occupied. Although many parents used walker to promote walking, there was no supportive evidence that walkers helped babies learn to walk sooner. In conclusion, injuries among infants who use walkers are minor, but common. Also, baby walkers may cause a fatal min to some infants. Therefore, child safety warning label policies, anticipatory safety guidance and quality control of infant walkers are needed to prevent injuries associated with a infant walker.

전주시 객사길 보행자 중심 걷고 싶은 거리 설계 - 주민참여형 가로설계 - (The Walkable Street Design for 'Gaeksa-gil' of Jeonju City - Community Participatory Street Design -)

  • This paper presents a streetscape design for the 'Gaeksa-gil', located in Gosa-dong and Jungang-dong, Jeonju City, which length is about 830m and width is about $8\sim10m$. The goals of the design are to make a street on which people want to walk and rest both safely and pleasantly. To achieve these goals; concepts of identity, history, placeness, commercial vitality, environmentally-friendliness, safety, amenity , and democracy have been developed. For the pedestrian safety; shared street concepts, such as crank, salalom, fort, mini-rotary etc. are adopted. For design method, community participatory design is adapted. For the design theme; the axes of Time and Space are developed and streets are divided into 3 thematic spaces, such as 'History Street,' 'Nature Street,' and 'Culture Street.' The History Street, which belongs to Time axis, is a space for experiencing past, present, and future history of Jeonju city. Nature Street, which belongs to Space axis, is a space for feeling and loaming the nature of the city. The Culture Street, which also belongs to Space axis, is a space for experiencing the culture of the city. The community participated in the whole design process through the workshop, the internet website, the street events, etc.

Designing Interactive Walkways of Smart Cities in Saudi Arabia

  • In this work, a noble walkway approach suitable for Saudi Arabia (SA) towards its aim to develop a wide range of smart cities is considered scientifically. This work intends to minimize the errors at each level by testing the events that take place in the walkway environment. similarly, the minimum requirements to develop a walkway to the additional features to be considered while designing a walkway are discussed in this paper with sensitive areas such as environmental factors, healthcare issues, patients visiting the walkways, etc. The applications of different monitoring devices such as CCTV's, global positioning systems (GPS), etc. are carefully addressed to help the proposed method for improving the monitoring activities of a variety of events that possibly cause problems to a common man. The ultimate goal of this work to ensure a safe and satisfied journey of pedestrians while they come for a walk with all suitable safety measures. The safety measures included in this work are for pollution, noise, temperature, humidity and traffic jams on the roads. To improve the accuracy and to test the proposed approach some polices are defined and will be tested for the consistency of the proposed system. The obtained accuracy of the proposed system is proved to be far better with an accuracy of 93% improvement in the results.

사각 라운딩 보도틀이 시공된 자동차진입 억제용 말뚝의 소형 승용차량 충돌 시뮬레이션을 통한 안전성 분석 (Safety Analysis through Small Car Crash Simulation of Bollard with Square Rounding Sidewalk Block Frame)

  • In this study, a square rounding sidewalk block frame was developed considering the simplicity of construction and the superiority of aesthetics. In addition, it is possible to prevent damage, deformation, and settlement of adjacent sidewalk blocks due to plastic deformation during car impact load of installed bollad. A non-linear structural analysis was performed through finite element analysis to examine the performance of a car crash to which this was applied. Structural safety was confirmed through car crash simulation according to the direction of impact, and it is estimated that the function can be restored by replacing some parts in case of damage due to impact.

KURT 부지 환경에 위치한 가상의 처분 시설에서 누출되는 방사성 핵종의 이동을 Time Domain에서 해석하는 방법에 관한 연구 (Radionuclides Transport from the Hypothetical Disposal Facility in the KURT Field Condition on the Time Domain)

  • 한국원자력연구원의 지하처분연구시설인 KURT 주변의 지하수 유동 환경과 관련하여 수집 및 분석된 자료를 바탕으로, 가상의 처분장에서 누출된 방사성 핵종의 이동 현상을 시간 영역(time domain)에서 계산하였다. KURT에서 실시된 현장 시험에서 밝혀진 수리지질학적 특성을 바탕으로 지하수 유동 모의를 실시하였고, 그 결과를 통해 파악된 지하수 유동 경로를 따라 방사성 핵종이 이동하는데 걸리는 시간은 시간 영역에서 용질 이동 모의를 하는 TDRW(Time Domain Random Walk) 방식을 통해 평가하였다. 이류(advection)와 분산(dispersion) 현상 외에 방사성 핵종의 붕괴(decay), 평형 흡착(equilibrium sorption), 암반 기질로의 확산(matrix diffusion) 현상이 용질의 이동 시간에 영향을 주는 것으로 설정되었다. 모의 결과를 통해 방사성 핵종과 지하 매질의 특성에 의한 흡착 현상, 기질 확산 현상이 핵종 이동에 미치는 영향이 분석되었으며, 방사성 핵종의 연쇄 KURT 부지 환경에 위치한 가상의 처분 시설에서 누출되는 방사성 핵종의 이동을 Time Domain에서 해석하는 방법에 관한 연구 반응에 의한 영향도 평가하였다. KURT 부지 환경에서 지표로 유출될 수 있다고 계산된 방사성 핵종의 유출량은 처분장에서 누출될 수 있는 양의 $10^{-3}$배 미만이었고, 암반 기질로의 확산 및 흡착이 고려되면 그 비율이 더욱 낮아졌다. 본 연구에서 사용된 핵종 이동 모의 방법은 방사성붕괴나 흡착, 확산 등 이동 지연 현상을 고려하면서 핵종의 이동 시간을 계산할 수 있어 안전성 평가에서 요구되는 심부 지하에서의 방사성 핵종 이동 관련 자료를 작성하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • Unplanned growth of the city was established, despite many elementary, School facilities outside the city is still lacking. Basically should be able to walk to school through elementary school in the case of excessive distance, issues such as unsafe in the school environment and the school, overcrowding, excessive relieve classroom learning environment, with the improvement of the overall situation is necessary. In this study, the status for local public elementary school environment, research and analysis, case studies, research, and through community and resolve problems derived as a school bus for the introduction of alternative feasibility analysis.
