This study deals with waiting-time dependent backordering rate during stock-out period in the EconomicProduction Quantity (EPQ) model. Assuming that the backordering rate follows an exponentially decreasingfunction of the waiting time, the backorder rate is developed under First-Come-First-Served (FCFS) andLast-Come-First-Served (LCFS) Policy. The mathematical models are developed based on differential equations.Through numerical examples, the validity of the developed models is illustrated.

Container terminals in Northern Vietnam have recorded an impressive development in recent years. This development, however, also raises a fierce competition among local container terminals to attract customers. Beside the handling charges, the vessels' waiting cost is also an important factor that drive the opinion of users in choosing appropriate terminal. This research plans to estimate the waiting cost in different container terminals in Northern Vietnam by building regression equation that describe the relationship between the rate of throughput/capacity and waiting cost/TEU. Queuing theory with the application of Poisson distibution is used to estimate the waiting time of arrival vessels and uncertainty theory is applied to estimate the vessel's daily expenses. Previous studies suggested two different formation of the equation and according to the research results, cubic equation is more suitable in the given case. The research results are also useful for further research which require calculation of waiting cost per TEU in each container terminal in Northern Vietnam.
The increasing regular medical check up rate for early diagnosis in disease has increasing sleep endoscopy rate because of reduction with discomfort. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of recovery bed as increasing sleep endoscopy rate using check up time, waiting time & recovery time at a general hospital in Seoul. This study was analyzed using ARENA 10.0 program. At present and as increasing of sleep endoscopy rate 10%, 20% was increased recovery time, waiting time & the rate of bed inflection. So at present, the number of recovery bed has to increase for client's safety and as increasing of sleep endoscopy rate 10%, 20% has to increase 3 and then waiting time decreased in 2 minutes.
The expansion of indications for lung transplantation, the growth of the waiting list, and donor shortages are increasing the waiting list mortality rate in Korea. The current lung allocation system in Korea is based mainly on urgency, but outcomes should also be considered to avoid futile transplantation. This review describes the current status of, and issues with, the lung allocation system in Korea including donors, the waiting list, and transplant outcomes in the context of an aging society, in which the frequency of end-stage pulmonary disease is increasing.
The number of ships serviced at the container terminals in Busan is increasing by 2.9% per year. In spite of the increase in calling ships, there are no official records of waiting rate by the port authority. This study attempts to compare the theoretical ship waiting ratio and actual ship waiting ratio. The actual ship waiting ratio of container terminals is acquired from the 2014 to 2016 data of PORT-MIS and Terminal Operating System (TOS). Furthermore, methods and procedures to measure the actual ship's waiting rate of container terminal are proposed for ongoing measurement. In drawing the theoretical ship waiting ratio, the queuing theory is applied after deploying the ship arrival probability distribution and ship service probability distribution by the Chi Square method. As a result, the total number of ships waiting in a terminal for three years was 587, the average monthly service time and the average waiting time was 13.8 hours and 17.1 hours, respectively, and the monthly number of waiting ships was 16.3. Meanwhile, according to the queuing theory with multi servers, the ship waiting ratio is 31.1% on a 70% berth occupancy ratio. The reason behind the huge gap is the congested sailing in the peak days of the week, such as Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. In addition, the number of waiting ships recorded on Sundays was twice as much as the average number of waiting ships.
The purposes of this study were to : (a) anlayze wating time, service rate, arrival rate, and coustomer expectations/satisfaction in cafeteria business foodservices and (b) identify the differences in those factors between foodservices by menu managmenet systems. The samples were two business foodservices operated by contract management in Seoul. The queue, laptime , service rate, and arrival rate were measured at each foodservice by stopwatch observation. The menu type, delivery system, number of meals served , servide time, and turnover rate of each foodservic was investigated. Questionnaires were developed to survey customer expectations and satisfaction. Satistical data analysis was completed using the SAS package programs for descriptive analysis and t-test. The mean waiting time of island type dafeteria system with separte set -menu was shorter than that of the other. In both foodservices, arrival rates were not significantly different from one another , but sevice rates were significnatly high in dafeteria menu systems. The peak time of the queue was found out at combination set menu line. The separate set menu line had a higher servide rate than the combination set menu line. The mean waiting time of the island type cafeteria line was shorter than that of the straifth type . At the straight type dafeterial line, both arrival rate and service rate were higher than those of island-type. The results of this study suggested that a separate set-menu would be more desirable than a combination set-menu in case of providing set menu with cafeteria menu.
In this study, we consider stationary waiting times in a Poisson driven single-server m-node queues in series. We assume that service times at nodes are independent, and are either deterministic or non-overlapped. Each node excluding the first node has a finite waiting line and every node is operated under a FIFO service discipline and a communication blocking policy (blocking before service). By applying (max, +)-algebra to a corresponding stochastic event graph, a special case of timed Petri nets, we derive the explicit expressions for stationary waiting times at all areas, which are functions of finite buffer capacities. These expressions allow us to compute the performance measures of interest such as mean, higher moments, or tail probability of waiting time. Moreover, as applications of these results, we introduce optimization problems which determine either the biggest arrival rate or the smallest buffer capacities satisfying probabilistic constraints on waiting times. These results can be also applied to bounds of waiting times in more general systems. Numerical examples are also provided.

Several studies have been completed on the topic of container terminals in Northern Vietnam. Few of them, however, deal with competition in terms of costs related to vessel waiting time or cargo handling. This paper estimates the average waiting cost per TEU for all the container terminals in Northern Vietnam. After average waiting time was first estimated by applying queuing theory, uncertainty theory was applied to estimated vessel daily cost. A simulation was performed to create a series of data representing waiting cost per TEU in relation to the rate of volume handled/capacity of each terminal. Non-linear regression based on this series was used to present a function for the relationship between the average waiting cost of each terminal and the rate of volume handled /capacity.
The study on waiting time has been conducted from the psychological perspective since Maister (1985). In using medical institutions, especially general hospitals, it is not avoidable to wait for a long time. As a result, the waiting time gives clients psychological stress, which causes medical consumers to be more dissatisfied and decreases their rate of revisit. Accordingly, it is very urgent to study on the waiting time for hospitals' marketing and better image-making. This study is intended to find out how hospitals image and clients revisit is influenced by waiting environment and consumers' attitude, variables of waiting time perceived in medical services. Based on this study, those medical institutions are required to improve their medical service and waiting environment. Accordingly, they should convert waiting time into more efficient and comfortable recess and provide better environment for physical service and effective human services. As those medical institutions have relatively worse image than other businesses, they should actively study on ways of better image-making in the future.
Due to the increase in container cargo volume, the congestion of container terminals is increasing and the waiting time of gate in-out trucks has significantly lengthened at container yards and gates, resulting in severe inefficiency in gate in-out truck operations as well as port operations. To resolve this problem, the Busan Port Authority and terminal operator provide services such VBS, terminal congestion information, and expected operation processing time information. However, the visible effect remains insufficient, as it may differ from actual waiting time.. Thus, as basic data to resolve this problem, this study presents deep learning based average gate in-out truck waiting time prediction models, using container gate in-out information at Busan New Port. As a result of verifying the predictive rate through comparison with the actual average waiting time, it was confirmed that the proposed predictive models showed high predictive rate.
