  • This paper deals with the basic problem in developing the robot for spot welding. The robot for spot welding is different with other robots by the heavy handling equipment which is attached to the wrist end of the robot. Differences in the robot body and controller are discussed. Welding equipments which make large effect to the system performance are reviewed.

  • A robotic wrist with three rolling motion is considered. It has the gear trains with three independent input parameters and mechanical interference in their motion. This paper presents dervation of basic kinematic equations that relate the input parameters and the orientation of the end-effector, determination of singularities in its motion, and the computational procedure of the inverse kinematics.

  • Taping is used to restrict undesired, potentially harmful motion and allow desired motion. Taping refers to the application of some type of adhesive backed tape, that adheres to the skin of a particular joint or to a limb. Prevention and rehabilitation is two main indications for the use of taping techniques. The purpose of this study was to compare a tennis injury between taping and non-taping group. The objects of this study were 64 tennis club members-38 non-taping group, 26 taping group. The analysis methods were both frequency and paired T-test. The results are followings: 1. There was effective increase of taping group-elbow, wrist, knee, ankle-that showed significant increase on statistical analysis. (P<.05). 2. There was effective a relation of seasons and injured in taping group-elbow, wrist, ankle-(P<.05) 3. But non-significant statistically about injured seasons. Prophylactic taping has become one of the most common methods employed to prevent sports injuries, despite questions regarding its efficacy. The success of taping does not only depend upon the materials or methods used, but also upon the phychologic sedative effect of the athlete to be taped.

  • Pulse sensors generally have characteristics that cause a analytical error by the interference of signals according to tiny motion of body and pressure applied to skin. To resolve this problem, we implemented the sensor that is capable of simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG(photoplethymogram) in a state attached to skin. Pressure and PPG was recorded at the finger and wrist respectively to evaluate the usefulness of the implemented sensor. Then, it was observed that the shape of PPG from sensor changed by pressure pushing down skin. Results of this study suggested that it is possible to monitor a degree of skin pressurization and to guarantee a reliable measurement by simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG using implemented integrated sensor when measuring PPG on the wrist or the finger.

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the kinematics and electromyographic variables of the upper extremity for the backhand clear motion according to the type of hitting in badminton. Seven elite male university players were selected as the subjects. Four digital video cameras and Noraxon Telemyo 2400 were used to collect the 3D kinematics and electromyographic data. The results were as follows: 1) in the phase of impact, the time of motion for the overhead backhand clear was the longest, 2) in the event of impact, the distance of step toward X direction was the longest and the distance of step toward Y direction was the shortest for the overhead backhand clear, 3) in the event of backswing, the rotation angles of shoulder and pelvis and the flexion angle of shoulder for the overhead backhand clear were the biggest, 4) the maximum flexion angular velocity of shoulder and the maximum extension angular velocity of elbow for the overhead backhand clear were the biggest, and 5) in the phase of impact, mean EMG of the wrist flexor, triceps, and trapezius muscle for the overhead backhand clear was bigger than that for the underhand stroke and in the phase of follow-through, mean EMG of the wrist flexor and extensor, biceps, triceps, and trapezius muscle for the overhead backhand clear was the biggest.

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to confirm if the intra-articular herbal-acupuncture exactly inserted into the joints by using fluoroscopy. Methods : An Oriental Medicine doctor inserted needle for herbal-acupuncture into intra-articular joint of elbow, wrist, knee and ankle with fluoroscopy or without fluoroscopy. Results : Needle was exactly inserted into elbow, wrist, knee and ankle by using fluorosopy, but it was not exactly inserted into the same point of joints without fluorosopy. Conclusions : Without fluoroscopy, the needle for intra-articular herbal-acupuncture was not exactly inserted into the joints. Further study is needed about intra-articular herbal-acupuncture.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to classify the skeletal maturity with a small amount of hand wrist X-ray image using deep learning-based meta-learning. General deep-learning techniques require large amounts of data, but in many cases, these data sets are not available for practical application. Lack of learning data is usually solved through transfer learning using pre-trained models with large data sets. However, transfer learning performance may be degraded due to over fitting for unknown new task with small data, which results in poor generalization capability. In addition, medical images require high cost resources such as a professional manpower and mcuh time to obtain labeled data. Therefore, in this paper, we use meta-learning that can classify using only a small amount of new data by pre-trained models trained with various learning tasks. First, we train the meta-model by using a separate data set composed of various learning tasks. The network learns to classify the bone maturity using the bone maturity data composed of the radiographs of the wrist. Then, we compare the results of the classification using the conventional learning algorithm with the results of the meta learning by the same number of learning data sets.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with radial nerve palsy, who improved by Scolopendrae Corpus Herbal-Acupuncture and other Oriental medical treatments. Methods : The patient was managed by Scolopendrae Corpus Herbal-Acupuncture, body acupuncture, physical theraphy and herbal medicine. We took picture of the patient's wrist and checked the power of muscles. Result : After 4 week treatment, the movement and power of wrist was restored to nearly normal range. Conclusions : The results suggest that combination of Scolopendrae Corpus Herbal-Acupuncture and other Oriental medical treatments is good method for treatment of radial nerve palsy. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this methods.
