Behavioral Intention to Use Wellness Wearables: A Conceptual Model Development

  • Wearable Technology is going to be the biggest buzzword and the next generation of digital revolution in the near future. Wearables have changed the focus of the healthcare industry to prevention programs in order to encourage individuals to be more active and to take the responsibility of their own health. Although, the intention of consumers to use wellness wearables has been growing rapidly, the number of individuals who refuses continued use of such devices increases day-by-day. Diffusion and innovation of new technology could be more efficiently gained by consumer's adoption. So, it is extremely important for providers and designers to understand the impact of positive and negative factors on consumers' intention to use wellness wearables. Moreover, a unified framework is required for better understanding of individuals' behavioral intention for using wellness wearables. Thus, the goal of this study is to identify the potential factors that influence consumers' willingness to use wellness wearables as well as proposing a unified framework based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) with two extra factors, perceived trust and perceived health increase. The findings of this article improves the theoretical understanding of the engaged factors in the proposed research model of the study.

Advantages of the Wellness Tourism and its Future Implications

  • Purpose: The current research has investigated the question of how wellness tourism can be optimized to serve the diverse needs of its participants better while ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth. It will help design and implement better health and tourism policies to improve health and tourism policies to improve societies and economies. Research design, data and methodology: This research adopts a systematic literature review approach in collecting and synthesizing previous research works contained in the study to develop the result discussed in the next section. This review adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist. Results: The findings of this research have indicated total of four brief suggestions to answer the research question, such as (1) Integration of Health and Wellness Programs in Mainstream Tourism, (2) Economic Revitalization of Rural and Underdeveloped Areas, (3) Enhancement of Public Health through Preventive Wellness, (4) Promotion of Sustainable Tourism Practices. Conclusions: Finally, this research concludes that incorporating health and wellness programs into mainstream tourism is a strategic focal area in hospitality practice. By raising the stakes in, for example, physical activities, beauty treatments, healthy meals, and mental health sessions, old-fashioned hotels or resorts can broaden their client base.

온라인 웰니스 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠 이용이 심리적 웰빙에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Online Wellness Entertainment Contents Use on Psychological Well-being)

  • 많은 현대인들은 질병, 일상생활, 직장, 환경오염 등의 원인으로 스트레스에 시달리게 되면서 일상으로부터 벗어나 신체적, 정신적 여유를 누리는 보다 편안하고 안정된 삶을 원하고 있다. 이러한 삶을 원하는 사람들이 증가하게 되면서 사회적으로 웰빙, 웰니스와 같은 용어는 보편화되고 관련 산업도 발전하고 있다. 웰니스 산업 중 웰니스 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠 산업은 가장 높은 성장세를 보이고 있는 영역 가운데 하나로, 본 연구는 온라인 매체를 통해 제공되는 웰니스 콘텐츠가 어떠한 과정을 통해 이용자의 심리적 웰빙 수준을 향상시키는 지를 텔레프레젠스의 매개효과를 통해 살펴보고자 한다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 온라인 웰니스 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠의 감각, 감정, 인지속성이 텔레프레젠스를 통해 심리적 웰빙과 구전효과에 미치는 영향관계를 연구모형으로 제시한다. 305명을 대상으로 웰니스 콘텐츠로써의 명상 앱 체험 경험에 대한 설문조사 데이터를 실증 분석한 결과 연구모형이 가정한 가설이 채택됨을 증명할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 웰니스 콘텐츠가 이용자의 텔레프레젠스와 구전효과를 유도함을 보여줌으로써 향후 단순한 심신안정용에만 한정되기보다 향후 수익모델로 발전시키기 위한 방안이 필요함을 시사한다.

셀프 라이프코칭 앱(App) 개발을 위한 앱의 웰니스 증진 효과에 대한 예비 연구 (A Preliminary Study on the Wellness-Enhancing Effect of an App for the Development of the Self-Life Coaching App)

  • 행복은 개인들이 추구하는 삶의 가장 중요한 목적이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 행복 증진을 위해서 개인들이 스스로 자신의 웰니스를 점검하고 관리하는 것이 필요하다고 보고, 셀프 라이프코칭 앱의 웰니스 증진 효과에 대한 예비 연구를 진행하였다. 이를 위해, 총 36명의 참여자를 실험집단(1·2)과 통제집단에 무선배정하고, 실험집단에는 연구용 앱을 활용해 4주간 셀프 라이프코칭을 수행하도록 하였다. 실험처치 중 주간 피드백을 실험집단1에는 제공하고, 실험집단2에는 제공하지 않았다. 종속변인으로 노동자를 위한 웰니스 지수(WIW)와 한국형 웰니스 척도(KWS)를 사용하였다. 실험결과, 사전, 사후, 추후의 시점과 집단 간의 상호작용 효과는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않았으나, 효과의 경향성을 확인하였다. 주간 피드백 유무에 따른 실험처치 효과 차이는 확인되지 않았다. 시간에 따른 웰니스 증진 효과가 통계적으로 유의미했으며, 실험처치가 웰니스에 미치는 효과가 선형적임을 확인하였다. 참여의견 조사 결과, 참여자의 84.2%가 이번 활동이 도움이 된다고 하였으며, 78.9%가 상용화된 앱이 있다면 1주 또는 2주에 한번 사용하겠다고 응답하였다. 본 연구는 누구나 스스로 자신의 웰니스 증진에 활용할 수 있는 방법론을 제시하였으며, 그 효과를 일정 부분 확인하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

An Innovative Wellness Program Promoting Participation in Physical Activity of Community-Dwelling Frail Elderly

  • Background: Given the potential benefits of wellness programs promoting physical activity of the community-dwelling frail elderly, it is recommended that comprehensive wellness programs combined with the component of physical activity. This may improve overall health and potentially lower the health care cost of the frail elderly. In general, the frail elderly residing in community or those after being discharged from hospitals are often committed to enhancing the status of participation in physical activity. Objects: The purposes of this study were to identify specific shortcomings of current wellness programs as part of continuum of community rehabilitation services and to propose alternatives for the care of the community-dwelling frail elderly. Through this study, geriatric health care professionals may be able to implement assessments and programs to successfully promote an effective continuum of care for the frail elderly. Methods: Article reviews were summarized and evaluated. Results: A model elaborating the relationship between components of successful wellness program and participation in physical activities for the community-dwelling frail elderly are recommended. First, periodic monitoring the levels of physical activity by the use of online measurement system should be considered. Second, individualized adaptive technologies for selecting optimal physical activities for the elderly may be better fit to individuals' current status of physical activity. Conclusion: The current status of physical activity in community-dwelling frail elderly can be monitored by online assessment systems. Through the innovative measurement system, elderly may assess his/her physical activity status overtime, select optimal physical activities matching the status, and create the elderly's own adaptive wellness programs that match to the status while residing in his/her community.

  • 본 연구는 웰니스 관광객의 스마트폰 사용 행태 조사를 통하여 관련 마케팅 시사점을 도출하는데 있다. 최근 건강과 관련한 예방 치료서비스와 관광활동이 접목된 웰니스 관광이 급속한 확대를 보이고 있다. 특히 스마트폰 사용이 웰니스 활동에 얼마나 영향을 받고 있는지와 같은 행태를 분석하는 것은 큰 의미가 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 관광객을 대상으로 한 설문지를 통하여 스마트폰의 정보들이 웰니스 관광객의 영향 여부를 분석한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 2017년 4월에 관광객 230명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시했으며, 웰니스 활동과 스마트폰 관련 설문 항목들을 분석하였다. 본 분석을 통하여 최종적으로는 웰니스 관광객들의 스마트폰 사용자들의 행동 조사 및 분석을 통해 관련된 기업과의 연계로 실질적이고, 의미 있는 시사점을 관련 관광산업공급자에게 제공할 수 있다.

The impact of leisure sports activities in older adults on wellness awareness, perceived freedom, and subjective well-being

  • The purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between leisure sports activities among the elderly, wellness awareness, perceived freedom, and subjective well-being. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the study subjects were selected as the population aged 65 or older who lived in the Gwangju Metropolitan City area in 2022 and engaged in leisure sports activities. As for the sampling method, samples were extracted using cluster random sampling. A total of 300 people, 150 male and 150 female, were sampled. The survey tool was modified and supplemented according to this study based on the questionnaire that had been verified for reliability and validity in previous studies, and all questionnaire items were composed of a 5-point scale. The statistical analysis used for data analysis was frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Windows 21.0 Version. First, it was found that the wellness perception of the elderly partially affects the perceived sense of freedom. Second, it was found that the wellness perception of the elderly partially affects psychological happiness. Third, the elderly's perceived sense of freedom was found to affect their subjective well-being. Considering these research results, in order to effectively improve the quality of life in old age, it is important to promote physical, mental, emotional, and social relationships through nature-friendly sports activities to improve subjective life motivation, satisfaction, and happiness. It can be said that it increases the sense of well-being.

Tourists' Re-Participation Intention in Wellness Tourism: Differences by Health Status and Health Consciousness

  • Purpose: This study analyses the key variables that influence tourists' intention to re-participate in wellness tourism. To this end, a theoretical model is developed that is grounded in the theories of perceived value and perceived risk. Additionally, this study segments the market based on tourists' health consciousness and health status, examining the differences in the process of forming re-participation intentions. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: An online survey of 305 Japanese respondents was conducted, and the research model and hypotheses were validated using SmartPLS 4 and SPSS. Results: The findings illustrate that perceived functional, social, emotional, and epistemic values from previous wellness tourism experiences positively influence tourists' attitudes, whereas time risk negatively affects them. Furthermore, functional value and attitudes enhance re-participation intentions, whereas financial risk decrease them. Cluster analysis identified three groups: 'Health-Conscious but Unwell'; 'Not Health-Conscious and Unwell'; and 'Health-Conscious and Well'. Those who are 'Health-Conscious and Well' are more likely to re-participate if they are satisfied with the functional value of their wellness tourism experience. Conclusions: The findings of this study offer destination marketers and service providers valuable insights into how tourists form behavioural intentions and how to strategically allocate resources to maximise the potential of wellness tourism.

Effect of a Four-Week Exercise Training on Knee Indices, Pain Perception, Wellness and Cardiorespiratory Endurance in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Control Trial

  • PURPOSE: To determine the effect of four weeks of exercise training on knee circumference and range of motion (ROM), pain perception, wellness, and VO2max in patients at Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Nigeria. METHODS: Forty subjects who met the inclusion criteria were randomized into control and experimental groups. patients were subjected to four weeks of flexibility and strengthening exercise, which included squatting exercise, ROM exercise, both groups were given some cardiovascular exercise. VO2max), Wellness score and circumference. RESULTS: Compared to the baseline values (week 1), there was increase in the knee ROM, and decrease in the pain perception in both groups after four weeks. However, the improvements seen in the experimental group, were significantly better relative to the control group after four weeks of intervention. owever, knee ROM and wellness scores of the experimental group, and the VO2max of both significantly increase, but significantly decrease in the knee circumference and pain perception of both groups following 4 weeks of exercise was recorded. CONCLUSION: he exercise modality in the study promote cardiovascular endurance, knee joint integrity, reduce pain perception in subjects. xercise intervention s beneficia to both groups since both reduction in the pain felt and also in knee swelling.
