Time-resolved PIV와 POD기법을 이용한 유량에 따른 단일노즐 버블링 유동 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Bubble-driven Flow with Varying Flow Rates by Using Time-resolved PIV and POD Technique)

  • In this paper, the recirculation flow motion and mixing characteristics driven by air bubble flow in a rectangular water tank is studied. The Time-resolved PIV technique is adopted for the quantitative visualization and analysis. 532 nm Diode CW laser is used for illumination and orange fluorescent particle images are acquired by a PCO 10bit high-speed camera. To obtain clean particle images, 545 nm long pass optical filter and an image intensifier are employed and the flow rates of compressed air is changed from 2 l/min to 4 l/min at 0.5 MPa. The recirculation and mixing flow field is further investigated by the POD analysis technique. It is observed that the large scale counterclockwise rotation and main vortex is generated in the upper half depth from the free surface and one quarter width from the sidewall. When the flow rates are increased, the main vortex core is moved to the side and bottom wall direction.

Evolution of Tip Vortices Generated by Two Bladed Rotor in Hover at Early Wake Ages

  • In order to investigate change of vortex structures and its evolving proceses, two dimensional LDV system was used for measurement of velocity vectors of tip vortex, and PIV system was also used for visualizations of tip vortex array for two bladed rotor, respectively. Experiments provided vortex locations, tangential and axial velocity components of tip vortex at six wake ages of 9.5, 10.5, 60.5, 99.5, 129.5, 169.5 and corresponded six wake ages shifted with 180 degrees per each. It was resulted that tip vortices generated by the first blade satisfy Landgrebe's model for their vortex locations even after they were accelerated by the second blade in downstream. Tangential velocity components of tip vortices follow Vatistas' n=2 model on both inside and outside regions of rotor slipstream without loss of vortex circulation. Axial velocity profiles revealed that there were small but significant perturbations just outside the primary vortex core which implies the second blade affects the wake substantially. It was also found that tip paths of each blade were not willing to be coincided intrinsically.

  • Vortexing might occur during draining from tanks which reduces the rate of outflow. This phenomenon has practical relevance in the fuel feed system in space vehicles and rockets. Due to environmental disturbances rotational motion can be generated in the liquid-propellant tank, which in turn can affect the rate of outflow to the engines. The phenomenon is initialized by rotating the fluid In the experimental tank. The dip quickly develops into a vortex with an air core, which extends to the bottom port, reducing the effective cross-sectional area of the drain outlet and consequently the flow rate. Flow characteristics are investigated using SPIV(Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry) method.

유동가시화를 통한 타원형날개주위 유동연구 (Study on the Flow Around an Elliptic Wing Using Flow Visualization Technique)

  • NACA0020 단면을 갖는 타원형 날개끝에서 발생되어 전개되는 Tip Vortex를 연구하기 위하여 날개표면과 후류에서의 유동특성을 조사하였다. 날개표면 유동은 Tufts법과 캐비테이션 관찰로 분석되었으며 날개표면 압력계측으로 유동가시화 결과를 보완하였다. 연구결과 강력한 스팬방향 압력구배가 Tip Vortex 생성에 결정적 영향을 줌과 아울러 날개 양쪽면에서의 유동이 공히 보오텍스의 생성에 기여함을 알 수 있었다. 한편, 자세한 Tip Vortex의 구조를 보기위하여 캐비테이션 관찰, Laser Sheet 기법에 의한 보오텍스 단면가시화 및 유속계측이 실시되었는데 보오텍스의 형상과 강도는 날개의 받음각에 지배되어 나타났다. 날개끝 유동의 전반적인 특성은 비점성유동 가정하에서 사용되는 보오텍스 모델링을 보완할 목적으로 분석되었다.

수직원통관에서 선회유동의 속도분포에 관한 연구 (A Study on Swirling Flow in a Vertical Circular Tube)

  • Experiment and numerical investigation are performed on swirling water flow in a vertical circular tube. This kind of flow is used in heat exchangers, combustion chambers, thermal power plants, and other mechanical equipment to move slurries or to convey materials. However, limited information on swirling flow in vertical circular tubes is available. In the current paper, the three-dimensional particle image velocimetry(PIV) technique is employed to compare the measured velocity profiles of water along the vertical circular tube with those of non-swirl flow. In addition, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code was applied to calculation of the flow velocities with swirl.

  • Flow characteristics of jet impingement over concave hemispherical surface with effusion cooling holes is relatively more complex than that of a flat surface, so the experimental validation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results is important. In this study, experimental results were compared with simulation results obtained by assuming different turbulence models. The vortex was observed in the region between the central jets where the recirculation structure appeared. The different patterns of vorticity distributions were observed for each turbulence models due to different interaction of the injected jet flow. Among them, the transition k-kl-ω model predicted similarly not only the jet potential core region with higher velocity, but also the recirculation region between the central jets. From the validation, it may be helpful to accurately predict heat and mass transfer in jet impingement/effusion hole system.

  • Three-dimensional vortical structures in the wake behind a road vehicle has been visualized with the help of two-dimensional PIV measurement data. A three-dimensional velocity field has been reconstructed from several sectional measurement data in the x-y, y-z and z-x planes. Isovorticity surface observed by stacking only the sectional data in each plane, does not show the vortical structures within the recirculation region but represents only the strong shear flows. Thus, in the present study, the velocity component normal to the x-y plane is obtained by interpolating those velocities in the z-x plane. Then, a $\lambda_{2}$-definition which captures the local pressure minimum or vortex core, is applied to visualize the vortices in the recirculation region. The final results represent a successful configuration for the three-dimensional vortices.

평판전열면(平板傳熱面)에 충돌(衝突)하는 2차원충돌분류계(二次元衝突噴流系)의 열전달특성(熱傳達特性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics on Flat Plate Surface by Two-dimensional Impinging Air Jet)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the heat transfer characteristics and the flow structure in the case of rectangular air jet impinging vertically on the flat heating surface. The maximum value of Nusselt number at stagnation point is observed at H/B=10. It is found that this trend has been caused by the effect of stretching of large scale vortex in the stagnation region. For potential core region the Nusselt number distribution in the downstream of the stagnation point decreases gradually and begins to increase at about X/B=3. From the flow visualization it could be seen that small eddy produced from the nozzle edge grows in large scale and that large scale eddy disturbed the thermal boundary layer on the heating plate. The local average Nusselt number becomes maximum at X/B=0.5 regardless of H/B variation.

원형분사제트 조절을 통한 유동특성 및 제트 벡터링의 효과 고찰 (Experimental Studies on Flow Characteristics and Thrust Vectoring of Controlled Axisymmetric Jets)

  • 자유제트를 제어하는 방법중 하나는 분사제트 주위에 형성되는 와류를 조절하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 제트노즐 주위에 환형관을 설치하여 환형관으로부터 2차제트를 분사 또는 흡입함으로써 제트주위에 형성되는 전단류를 변화시켰다. 2차제트를 분사하는 경우(R<1.0) 주제트 주위에 형성되는 와류의 발달을 억제함으로써 제트포텐셜코어의 길이가 아주 길어지는 제트유동을 얻을 수 있었고 흡입하는 경우에는(R>1.0) 제트주위의 전단류가 흡입비 R=1.3~l.65에서 대류불안정성에서 절대불안정성으로 바뀜으로써 형성된 와류가 하류에서 제트중심부까지 발전, 결합되는 것을 방지하여 더 긴 포텐셜코어와 중심에서 낮은 난류강도를 얻었다. 위의 결과는 환형관 주위에 부착한 깃의 높이 변화에 따라서 변화하였는데, 이것은 깃이 환형관을 통한 흡입유동의 유로역할을 함으로써 출구 주위의 유체가 직접흡입되는 것을 방지하기 때문이다. 분사제트 벡터링을 위하여 제트노즐 주위의 환형관을 이등분하여 한쪽으로만 흡입함으로써 제트주위에 다른 전단류를 형성함과 동시에 코안다(Goanda)효과를 이용하여 분사제트를 편향시켰다. 편향되는 정도 및 난류성분은 흡입속도비에 따라서 크게 바뀌었다. 실험은 속도분포와 난류강도 측정이 수행되었으며 가시화를 이용하여 유동특성을 관찰하였다.

복엽기 배치의 복식 플랩핑 에어포일들의 추력 특성 (Thrust Characteristics of Dual Flapping Airfoils in a Biplane Configuration)

  • 비정상 패널법을 이용하여 복엽기 형태 배치의 복식 플랩핑 에어포일들에 대한 후류의 형상 및 추력 특성을 연구하였다. 에어포일들에서 발생하는 후류 형상은 와핵 모델, 와핵 첨가법 그리고 4계 Runge-Kutta 법을 사용하여 계산하였다. 해석 결과는 유동 가시화, 엄밀해 그리고 전산 해석 결과와 비교하여 검증하였다. 복엽기 배치의 에어포일의 경우, 두께 및 캠버는 추력을 감소시키는 효과가 있었다. 플런징과 피칭 운동들 사이의 위상차가 90도 및 120도 일 때 최대 추력이 발생하였다. 플런지 속도 및 피치 크기가 클수록 추력은 증가하였다. 에어포일 사이의 거리가 감소할수록 추력은 증가하나, 0.6c 이하로 가까워질 경우 추력은 감소하였다.
