Over the past few years, $LiFePO_4$ has been actively studied as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries because of its advantageous properties such as high theoretical capacity, good cycle life, and high thermal stability. However, it does not have a very good power capability owing to the low lithium-ion diffusivity and poor electronic conductivity. Reduction in particle size of $LiFePO_4$ to the scale of nanometers has been found to dramatically enhance the above properties, according to many earlier reports. However, because of the intrinsically low tap density of nanomaterials, it is difficult to commercialize this method. Many studies are being carried out to improve the volumetric energy density of this material and many methods have been reported so far. This paper provides a brief summary of the synthesis methods and electrochemical performances of micro-spherical $LiFePO_4$ having high volumetric energy density.
With the development of digital graphics technology, the metaverse has become a significant trend in the content market. The demand for technology that generates high-quality 3D (dimension) models is rapidly increasing. Accordingly, various technical attempts are being made to create high-quality 3D virtual humans represented by digital humans. 3D volumetric capture is spotlighted as a technology that can create a 3D manikin faster and more precisely than the existing 3D model creation method. In this study, we try to analyze 3D high-precision facial production technology based on practical cases of the difficulties in content production and technologies applied in volumetric 3D and 4D model creation. Based on the actual model implementation case through 3D volumetric capture, we considered techniques for 3D virtual human face production and producted a new metahuman using a graphics pipeline for an efficient human facial generation.
An efficient packed-bed type biofilm reactor charged with immobilized phototrophs was developed to treat organic wastewater at an extremely high volumetric loading rate. The packed bed reactor (PBR) charged with porous ceramic beads was superior to a fluidized-bed reactor suspended with activated carbon powders in terms of many aspects such as BOD removal efficiency, operational stability, and overall economics. For wastewater with BOD concentration as high as 20, 000mg/l, the BOD removal efficiency was maintained above 90% when the hydraulic retention time (HRT) was longer than 1 day. The allowable volumetric BOD loading rate of this reactor (20gBOD/l day) is more than ten-folds higher than that of an ordinary activated sludge method. The behaviour of the reactor was represented well by a Monod type kinetic equation with a maximum specific BOD loading rate(P) of 22.2gBOD/l day and a half saturation constant(K$_{s}$) of 1, 750 mgBOD/l.

Discontinuities considerably affect the mechanical and hydraulic properties of rock mass. These properties of the rock mass are influenced by the geometry of the discontinuities to a great extent. This paper aims to render an account of the geometrical parameters of several discontinuity sets related to the surrounding rock mass of Rudbar Lorestan Pumped Storage Power Plant powerhouse cavern making use of the linear and areal (circular and rectangular) sampling methods. Taking into consideration quite a large quantity of scanline and the window samplings used in this research, it was realized that the areal sampling methods are more time consuming and cost-effective than the linear methods. Having corrected the biases of the geometrical properties of the discontinuities, density (areal and volumetric) as well as the linear, areal and volumetric intensity accompanied by the other properties related to four sets of discontinuities were computed. There is an acceptable difference among the mean trace lengths measured using two linear and areal methods for the two joint sets. A 3D discrete fracture network generation code (3DFAM) has been developed to model the fracture network based on the mapped data. The code has been validated on the basis of numerous geometrical characteristics computed by use of the linear, areal sampling methods and volumetric method. Results of the linear sampling method have significant variations. So, the areal and volumetric methods are more efficient than the linear method and they are more appropriate for validation of 3D DFN (Discrete Fracture Network) codes.

In this paper, the ultrasonic transducer with a spherical liquid lens is designed and an efficient method to calculate the acoustic field radiated from the transducer is presented. A prototype ultrasonic transducer with a spherical liquid lens is constructed and tested. The experimental results are compared with those of the computer simulations and good agreements are achieved. The dynamic control of the geometric focus is obtained by adjusting the radius of curvature of the lens membrane with the volumetric control of the liquid in the lens.

High-volume low-speed (HVLS) fans are one category of ceiling fan installed in large enclosings such as warehouses, large barns and health clubs in order to generate comfortable air circulation. As a rotary blade, aerodynamic performance of a HVLS fan is predominantly related to its airfoil(s), and the pitch and twist angles. This paper first, investigates the effects of airfoil on the performances of three different HVLS fans with NACA 5414, 6413 and 7415 airfoils. The fans have six untwisted blades with the diameter of 6 m and rotate at 60 RPM. The blades pitch angels are $12^{\circ}$, $12^{\circ}$ and $13^{\circ}$, respectively. The results are presented in the form of the aerodynamic forces and moments, volumetric flow rate and streamlines. Regarding the volumetric flow of air, the results show that the model with NACA 7415 has the best performance. Hence, two other HVLS fans with the same airfoil but, with four and five blades are studied in order to investigate the effects of number of blades. From the point of view of air circulation still the six-bladed fan is the best one; however, the five-bladed fan is more efficient in power consumption.
Purpose: Hepatic resection is arguably the preferred treatment for huge hepatocellular carcinoma (H-HCC). Estimating the remnant liver volume is therefore essential. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using computer-assisted volumetric analysis for this purpose. Methods: The study involved 40 patients with H-HCC. Laboratory examinations were conducted, and a contrast CT-scan revealed that 30 cases out of the participating 40 had single-lesion tumors. The remaining 10 had less than three satellite tumors. With the consensus of the team, two physicians conducted computer-assisted 3D segmentation of the liver, tumor, and vessels in each case. Volume was automatically computed from each segmented/labeled anatomical field. To estimate the resection volume, virtual lobectomy was applied to the main tumor. A margin greater than 1 cm was applied to the satellite tumors. Resectability was predicted by computing a ratio of functional liver resection (R) as (Vresected-Vtumor)/(Vtotal-Vtumor) x 100%, applying a threshold of 50% and 60% for cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic cases, respectively. This estimation was then compared with surgical findings. Results: Out of the 22 patients who had undergone hepatectomies, only one had an R that exceeded the threshold. Among the remaining 18 patients with non-resectable H-HCC, 12 had Rs that exceeded the specified ratio and the remaining 6 had Rs that were < 50%. Four of the patients who had Rs less than 50% underwent incomplete surgery due to operative findings of more extensive satellite tumors, vascular invasion, or metastasis. The other two cases did not undergo surgery because of the high risk involved in removing the tumor. Overall, the ratio of functional liver resection for estimating resectability correlated well with the other surgical findings. Conclusion: Efficient pre-operative resectability assessment of H-HCC using computer-assisted volumetric analysis is feasible.

Recent developments of S.I. engine, aiming to higher power, better fuel economy, lower air pollution and better driveability, have much focused on the importance of the role of computer simulation in engine research and development. In this point of view, improving engine performance requires finding some means to improve volumetric efficiency. Up to now there have been several attempts to optimize the intake and exhaust system of internal system of S.I. engine by computer simulation. There appear to be few studies available, however, of such simulation & experimental studies applied to the optimization of exhaust manifold configuration. In this study, gas exchange & power process of 4 cylinder S.I. Engine was studies numerically & experimentally, and governing equation of a one-dimensional unsteady compressible flow and combustion process were respectively solved by a characteristics method and 2-zone model. The aim of this study is to predict and investigate the influence of pressure wave interaction at the exhaust systems on engine performance with widely differing exhaust manifold configuration.
The absorption of benzene in nonpolar solution was studied in a laboratory-scale of bubble column varying of gas flow rates and gas-to-liquid ratios. A bubble column had a 0.8∼l$\times$10$\^$-3/ m$^3$ total volume (height 1500 mm, diameter 50 mm). Solution analysis was performed by GC-FID and GC-MSD. The objectives of this research were to select the best absorption fluid and to evaluate the mass transfer characteristics under specific conditions of each absorption. The results of this research were follow as: First, the heat transfer fluid is more efficient than the other nonpolar solution in removing VOC. Second, The benzene removal efficiency improved according to an increasing rate of gas flow. Also, volumetric mass transfer rate of column can be enhanced by increasing gas flow rate. Finally, the relation of gas flow rates, liquid amount, and volumetric mass transfer coefficient was obtained as follows. K$\_$y/a: 0.5906(V$\_$g//L)$\^$0.7611/ The following correlation of mass transfer coefficient and efficiency was proposed. v= 0.06078 K$\_$y/a$\^$0.2444/.
Purpose: The objective of the study was to identify the effects of the meridian massage therapy on hand edema and hand functions in patients with hemiplegia. Method: The experiment was conducted in the Oriental Medical ward of "K" hospital during the period of 2000. 12. 15 - 2001. 03. 15.
