  • Loading of NPS pollutant was valued through simulation by using BASINS/HSPF model which can simulate runoff volume in rainfall by time. For the verification of the model, it was analyzed the scatter diagram of the simulation value and measure value of water quality and runoff volume in Dongcheon estuary. Using the built model, a study on the time-variant characteristics of runoff and water quality was simulated by being classified into four cases. The result showed the simulation value was nearly same as that of the measured runoff. In the result of fit level test for measured value and simulated value, correlation of runoff volume was computed high by average 0.86 and in the water quality items, fit level of simulation and measurements was high by BOD 0.82, T-N 0.85 and T-P 0.79.

  • In the present study, the thermal buckling behavior of functionally graded sandwich plates is studied using a new hyperbolic displacement model. Unlike any other theory, the theory is variationally consistent and gives four governing equations. Number of unknown functions involved in displacement field is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories. This present model takes into account the parabolic distribution of transverse shear stresses and satisfies the condition of zero shear stresses on the top and bottom surfaces without using shear correction factor. Material properties and thermal expansion coefficient of the sandwich plate faces are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic material. The thermal loads are assumed as uniform, linear and non-linear temperature rises across the thickness direction. The results reveal that the volume fraction index, loading type and functionally graded layers thickness have significant influence on the thermal buckling of functionally graded sandwich plates.

  • This study has an object to evaluate runoff characteristics with ILLUDAS model and SWMM owing to each rainfall distribution type of Huff's quartile and each rainfall duration time of 30 ,60, 120 and 180 minutes. As a result of this study, Type-Ⅰ Extreme (TIE) rainfall distribution pattern with Huff's 2nd quartile is adequate for Cheju volcanic island . To decide optimal rain fall duration , time of concentration and critical duration should be compared and analyzed each other. In this study, 30 and 120 miniutes were suggeste to iptiaml duration time of A and B study basins. It is concluded that the magnitude of peak runoff discharge is maximum with Huff's 4th quartile, and that of total runoff volume is maximum with Huff's 4th quartile for ILLUDAS model and with Huff's 1st quartile for SWMM. As rainfall duration time increasing is increasing . Also in case of total runoff volume, volumen by SWMM is less than by ILLUDAS model as to variation ratio of total runoff volume in A and B study basin. Therefore, the resulots of this study canb e sued as basic data in determining adequate rainfoal duration time and rainfall distribution type and used for urban drainage systems analysis and design at small urbanization catchment is Cheju volcanic island.

  • Laboratory measurements were performed in a uni-algae medium Cochlodinium polykrikoides (Phytoplankton, dinoflagellates) using an Underwater Ultrasound $(5\~15\;MHz)$ to study Characteristics of Acoustic Backscattering of Harmful algae. In an effort to detect the harmful algal scatterers with population density of less than 300 cells/ml that corresponds to the precaution stage of red tide, backscattered signals from various scatterer-density samples were obtained and analyzed. Correlations between volume backscattering strength (Sv) and population density (cells/ml) of scatterers in the medium have been investigated. Comparison of Volume Backscattering Strengths calculated with the fluid-sphere model [1] and the measured values showed an agreement.

  • To investigate the optimum design conditions of Stirling Engines at the preliminary design stage, comparative study between adoabatoc analysis based on an approximate analytical solution to the Ideal Adiabatic Model and the existing isothermal analysis has been carried out. The optimum phase angle obtained from adiabatic analysis to achieve the maximum work with given combination of design parameters is greater than that from isothermal analysis, while the optimum swept volume ratio is smaller. Effect of variation in the temperature ratio on the work parameter is proved to be stronger in adiabatic analysis. On the contrary, the work parameter by adiabatic analysis is less sensitive to a change in the dead volume ratio. Especially in adiabatic analysis there exists the optimum dead volume ratio maximizing the work parameter, which may provide a lower limit of it. Considering that the adiabatic model is more reasonable, signifiant differences between two methods lead to the conclusion that adiabatic analysis is preferable to isothermal one for the preliminary design of Stirling Engines.

  • The purpose of the paper is to find out the trade patten and characteristics of Korea's fisheries products by figuring out the factors of affecting the volume of the export of Korean frozen fisheries products based on the data of frozen fisheries (HS0303), which make up of the large volume of Korea's fisheries export using gravity model. The paper has performed regression analysis through using 624 panel data and the statistical program, STATA 12.0. In this study, we can get two results as follows: First, the total import volume of fisheries and transportation distance of trade partners have an influence on the Korea's trade of frozen fisheries products. The time and fare of transportation have also an influence on the Korea's trade of frozen fisheries products. Second, Korea's trade of frozen fisheries products is also affected by the exchange rate of currencies and settlement of FTA which could be shown as important factors in the estimation of export function of general products.

  • In this paper, solute transport in heterogeneous aquifers using a modified Fokker-Planck equation (MFPE) is investigated. This newly developed mathematical model is characterised with a time-, scale-dependent dispersivity. A two-dimensional finite volume quadrilateral mesh method (FVQMM) based on a quadrilateral background interpolation mesh is developed for analysing the model. The FVQMM transforms the coupled non-linear partial differential equations into a system of differential equations, which is solved using backward differentiation formulae of order one through five in order to advance the solution in time. Three examples are presented to demonstrate the model verification and utility. Henry's classic benchmark problem is used to show that the MFPE captures significant features of transport phenomena in heterogeneous porous media including enhanced transport of salt in the upper layer due to its parameters that represent the dependence of transport processes on scale and time. The time and scale effects are investigated. Numerical results are compared with published results on the some problems.

  • Experimental isotherm compressive tests show that concrete behaviour is dependent on temperature. The aim of such tests is to reproduce how concrete will behave under environmental changes within a moderate range of temperature. In this paper, a novel constitutive elastic damage behaviour law is proposed based on a free energy with an apparent damage depending on temperature. The proposed constitutive behaviour leads to classical theory of thermo-elasticity at small strains. Fixed elastic mechanical characteristics and fixed evolution law of damage independent of temperature and the material volume element size are considered. This approach is applied to compressive tests. The model predicts compressive strength and secant modulus of elasticity decrease as temperature increases. A power scaling law is assumed for specific entropy as function of the specimen size which leads to a volume size effect on the stress-strain compressive behaviour. The proposed model reproduces theoretical and experimental results from literature for tempertaures ranging between $20^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$. The effect of the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the mortar and coarse aggregates is also considered which gives a better agreement with FIB recommendations. It is shown that this effect is of a second order in the considered moderate range of temperature.
