This paper presents a novel prototype of an active auxiliary quasi-resonant snubber(Auxiliary Quasi-Resonant Commutation Block-Link; ARCB)-assisted three phase voltage source soft switching space voltage vector modulated PFC rectifier, which uses Zero Voltage Soft Switching (ZVS) commutation. The operating principles of this digitally-controlled three phase soft switching PWM-PFC rectifier system with an instantaneous power feedback scheme are illustrated and its steady-state performance is evaluated using computer-aided simulation analysis.

In this paper, a simple scheme compensating for the effect of dc-link ripple voltages on output voltage of two-leg and three-phase PWM inverters is proposed, where single-phase half-bridge PWM convertor and two-leg inverter are used. The voltage at neutral point of the dc-link is controlled so that the upper-half of do-link voltage is equal to the lower-half voltage in average concept. However, the effect of the do-link ripple voltage results in the inverter output voltage and current distortion. This effect can be eliminated by introducing a compensation voltage in switching time calculation. Also, the inverter dead time should be compensated for sinusoidal output waveform. The proposed scheme has been verified by experimental results which were obtained from the V/F constant operation of the induction motor fed by two-leg inverter.
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is a widely adopted technique to drive the motor using the voltage source inverters. Since they generate high frequency Common Mode (CM) Voltage, a high shaft voltage in induction motor is induced which leads to parasitic capacitive currents causing adverse effects such as premature deterioration of ball bearings and high levels of electromagnetic emissions. This paper presents an Active Cancellation Circuit (ACC) which can significantly reduce the CM voltage hence the common mode current in the three phase induction motor drives. In the proposed method the CM voltage is detected by the capacitors and applied to the frame of the motor to cancel the CM voltage hence the CM current. Unlike the conventional methods the proposed method does not insert the transformer in between the inverter and motor, a high power rating three phase transformer is not required and no losses associated with it. In addition the proposed method is applicable to any kind of PWM motor drives regardless of their PWM methods. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by the experiments with a three phase induction motor (1.1kW 415V/60Hz) combined with a three phase voltage source inverter modulated by the Space Vector Modulation (SVM).
High frequency AC (HFAC) power distribution systems delivering power through a high frequency AC link with sinusoidal voltage have the advantages of simple structure and high efficiency. In a multiple module system, where multiple resonant inverters are paralleled to the high frequency AC bus through connection inductors, it is necessary for the output voltage phase angles of the inverters be controlled so that the circulating current among the inverters be minimized. However, the phase angle of the resonant inverters output voltage can not be controlled with conventional phase shift modulation or pulse width modulation. The phase angle is a function of both the phase of the gating signals and the impedance of the resonant tank. In this paper, we proposed a pulse phase modulation (PPM) concept for the resonant inverters, so that the phase angle of the output voltage can be regulated. The PPM can be used to minimize the circulating current between the resonant inverters. The mechanisms of the phase angle control and the PPM were explained. The small signal model of a PPM controlled half-bridge resonant inverter was analyzed. The concept was verified in a half bridge resonant inverter with a series-parallel resonant tank. An HFAC power distribution system with two resonant inverters connected in parallel to a 500kHz, 28V AC bus was presented to demonstrate the applicability of the concept in a high frequency power distribution system.

In this paper, we proposes the three-phase embedded Z-source inverter consisting of the three embedded Z-source converters and it's the output voltage control method. Each embedded Z-source converter can produce the bipolar output capacitor voltages according to duty ratio D such as single-phase PWM inverter. The output AC voltage of the proposed system is obtained as the difference in the output capacitor voltages of each converter, and the L-C output filter is not required. Because the output AC voltage can be stepped up and down, the boost DC converter in the conventional two-stage inverter is unnecessary. To confirm the validity of the proposed system, PSIM simulation and a DSP based experiment were performed under the condition of the input DC voltage 38V, load $100{\Omega}$, and switching frequency 30kHz. Each converter is connected by Y-connection for three-phase loads. In case that the output phase voltage is the same $38V_{peak}$ as the input DC voltage and is the 1.5 times($57V_{peak}$), the simulation and experimental results ; capacitor voltages, output phase voltages, output line voltages, inductor currents, and switch voltages were verified and discussed.

This paper proposes the DC offset compensation algorithm with fast response to the sensed grid voltage in the single-phase grid connected inverter. If the sensor of the grid voltage has problems, the DC offset of the grid voltage can be generated. This error must be resolved because the DC offset can generate the estimated grid frequency error of the phase-locked loop (PLL). In conventional algorithm to compensate the DC offset, the DC offset is estimated by integrating the synchronous reference frame d-axis voltage during one period of the grid voltage. The conventional algorithm has a drawback that is a slow dynamic response because monitoring the one period of the grid voltage is required. the proposed algorithm has fast dynamic response because the DC offset is consecutively estimated by transforming the d-axis voltage to synchronous reference frame without monitoring one cycle time of the grid voltage. The proposed algorithm is verified from PSIM simulation and the experiment.

In this paper, an auxiliary winding driving system of single-phase induction motors is described. Starting charateristics variations are obtained by controlling the auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle, while the motor's main winding is directly connected to the local utility. A variable auxiliary winding voltage phase angle is shown to yield significant torque control, providing starting and braking torque. The analysis includes the determination of the relationship between the auxiliary winding voltage phase angle and the phase angle difference between the main and auxiliary winding current. The paper proposed for adjusting an auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle. Experimental results of motor's starting characteristics with using the DC-AMP and PWM inverter for auxiliary winding power supply are shown. The drive is tested using a dynamometer to experimentally verify the results of the theory.
The $2{\times}25kv$ AT electric power feeding method in the A.C. electric train adopts the one-phase power feeding method as the standard due to a voltage phase difference, and the distance between the two neighboring substations is 50km due to voltage drop. The one-phase power feeding method makes the system operation feasible, while making it unfavorable for power supply. Moreover, railroad involves large-capacity single-phase load, and if it is expected to continue to rise, it is necessary to research on measures to stabilize the supply of power to railroad cars with the existing facilities. In this study, a parallel power feeding method between neighboring substations is proposed to stabilize the supply of electric power to electric railroad cars under the 2*25kv AT power feeding method and the loop current induced by voltage phase difference between the two neighboring substations during parallel power feeding is investigated.

Load connection or disconnection makes instantaneous sag & swell in 3-phase grid. When unbalance state occurs, between sensed phase voltage and actual phase voltage may have discrepancy. It makes difficult to detect accurate sag & swell, so it is hard to satisfy the standard for switching ESS system to UPS mode. In this paper, we analyzed unbalanced 3-phase voltage, and compensated the actual sag & swell magnitude.

By using simulation, compensating characteristics of a voltage sag compensator utilizing single-phase matrix converter is examined. System configuration is described and mathematical model of single-phase matrix converter is derived by using the state space averaging method. In addition, the single-phase matrix converter is stabilized by phase-lead compensation. Finally, compensating characteristics of the compensator is investigated for 500 W R-L load and it is demonstrated that the compensator can operate correctly for loads for the range of power factor 0.6 (lagging) - 0.8 (leading) and for up to 50% voltage sag.
