Periodic disturbance is practically occurred in several engineering applications, especially in data storage systems. However, recently addressed controls for such problem were mostly dealt with its deterministic nature, which is rarely practical in real-time implementation. We present an adaptive control approach for DC motor systems with periodic stochastic disturbance whose frequency and magnitude are both random variables. We establish adaptive state feedback control which is linearly composed of nominal and corrective control parameter matrices. The former is derived from a nominal system model voiding disturbance and the latter is constructed from a disturbed system model by using Lyapunov stability theory. We carry out computer simulation to evaluate the proposed control methodology and compare to the recently addressed control method to demonstrate its superiority.

A 64 year-old male patient with acute postrenal failure from obstructive uropathy was treated. His symptoms were difficulty voiding, general weakness, fever, chills and dyspepsia. We diagnosed his symptoms as acute postrenal failure from obstructive uropathy and administered Hwajung-tang(和中湯), Jasin-hwan(滋腎丸) and nelaton catheterization. After 30 days, these clinical symptoms had improved and results of BUN:creatinine also showed improvement, so I report this case, but more clinical case reports are needed.

Clinical benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a multifaceted phenomenon that is due to prostatic and bladder influences as well as nonurological causes. It is also important to differentiate between the more common voiding or obstructive symptoms as well as the more bothersome storage or irritative symptoms. Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and BPH may be two separate conditions with different underlying pathologies. However, they are often treated incorrectly as one entity. Both conditions are very common and they represent chronic conditions of the aging male. They are often associated with a significant reduction in the patients' quality of life. Although these are not new conditions, there have been enormous changes in the methods of assessing and managing the patients with these conditions. This review describes some of the influential studies in this area and the current trends of the primary treatment for LUTS/BPH.

Herpes zoster is an infection by the varicella zoster virus in a partly immune compromised person such as old age, cancer, immune deficiency disease. When either the upper lumbar or sacral segments are involved, serious urinary retention caused by central spread of herpes zoster from dorsal root ganglion can occur. The urinary disturbance appears to have been due to motor dysfunction of detrusor muscle, trigone muscle, and internal sphincter. We experienced two cases of zoster affecting different segments of the spinal cord and resulting in urinary retention.

We have recently experienced a third ventricular tumor from a 63-year old woman who presented with paraparesis, voiding difficulty and general weakness. Histopathologic study of the tumor was compatible with recently reported and newly termed chordoid glioma. Clinical behavior of the reported tumors were mostly benign but because of its very close proximity to the hypothalamus, some of the subtotally removed tumors recurred or some of the patients died of postoperative complications. The presenting patient regained normal leg power after removal of the tumor followed by ventriculoperitoneal shunt and discharged on her own feet.

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) is rare in children. especially in infants, in whom only 12 cases have been reported. Because of the nonspecificity of presenting symptoms in children, the diagnosis may be delayed. We report herein a case of SSEH in a 20-month-old girl who initially presented with neck pain, and developed lower extremity motor weakness and symptoms of neurogenic bladder 2 weeks prior to admission. The magnetic resonance imaging showed an epidural mass lesion extending from C7 to T4, and the spinal cord was severely compressed by the mass. After emergency decompressive surgery the neurologic function was improved immediately. Two months after surgery, the neurological status was normal with achievement of spontaneous voiding. We suggest that surgical intervention can provide excellent prognosis in case of SSEH in infants, even if surgery delayed.

The spot-welded automotive side member which has a hat-shaped section and a double hat shaped section has been tested on the axial static(10mm/min) and quasi-static(50mm/min) compressing load. The collapse characteristics of automotive sections have been reviews on shift on shape and in width of the spot-voiding on the flange. On the basis of the results of tests and reviews, the optimum energy absorption capacity of the structure has been studied.

Coexisting voiding and bowel dysfunction in children are common in the clinic. The idea that overactive bladder (OAB) and constipation arise from one single pathophysiology has been reinforced in many studies. In Korea, a nationwide multicenter study conducted in 2009 showed that overall prevalence of OAB in children, 5-13 years of age, was 16.59% and this number has increased more recently. The initial step to manage coexisting fecal retention and OAB in children is to characterize their bowel and bladder habits and to treat constipation if present. Although diagnosing constipation in children is difficult, careful history-taking using the Bristol Stool Form Scale, and a scoring system of plain abdominal radiography, can help to estimate fecal retention more easily and promptly. Non-pharmacological approaches to manage functional constipation include increasing fluids, fiber intake, and physical activity. Several osmotic laxatives are also effective in improving OAB symptoms and fecal retention. Additionally, correction and education in relation to toilet training is the most important measure in treating OAB with fecal retention.

Interstitial cystitis is an extremely painful and distressing condition, characterized by severe suprapubic pain, which increases with bladder filling and is relieved by voiding. The daily frequency of micturition may approach 100 times, but no incontinence is observed. The symptoms persist throughout the night, which consequently affects sleep. The etiology of this condition is still unknown, but includes infection, autoimmune response, allergic reaction, neurogenic inflammation, epithelial dysfunction and inherited susceptibility. Herein, a case of interstitial cystitis, with severe symptoms, which was successfully treated with lumbar sympathetic block, is reported.

A 34-year-old female patient was presented with leg and hip pain for 6 months as well as voiding difficulty for 1 year. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well-demarcated mass lesion at L2-3. The mass was hypo-intense on T1- and T2-weighted images with homogeneous gadolinium enhancement. Surgery was performed with the presumptive diagnosis of intradural extramedullary meningioma. Complete tumor removal was possible due to lack of dural adhesion of the tumor. Histologic diagnosis was clear cell meningioma, a rare and newly included World Health Organization classification of meningioma usually affecting younger patients. During postoperative 2 years, the patient has shown no evidence of recurrence. We report a rare case of cauda equina clear cell meningioma without any dural attachment.
