  • Nowadays, many interface devices or training systems for the disabled are being developed and introduced with the recent development in IT technology but only few training systems for the developmental disabled are introduced. In this paper, we present a situation training system based on the argumented reality in order to help the developmental disabled to increase their management level of capability to the certain situation. Our system is specifically based on the food serving in the restaurant. This maker-based system provides trainees to safely experience various different situations and take the training session under any circumstances. The trainees for this program are able to look around with the HMD on, take the training easily by following the voice instruction, and try situational scenario.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of astronomical animation module on students' conceptual change regarding the concepts of diurnal motion of stars. Four students participated in this study, who never learned about the diurnal motion of stars. An animation module was developed by using Flash MX to readily understand the concept of space. In addition, we inserted a teacher's voice with supplementary materials into the animation module to help students learn individually. The animation module was comprised of the movement of the Earth, the Moon and the planet. The earth science gifted students' preconception on diurnal motion of stars was analyzed with pre-test using questionnaires and interviews. After the instruction with animation module, the effect of conceptual change was examined by comparing pre and post-test. The results indicated that three students correctly presented about the motion of the star by all directions in middle latitude. Four students showed their understanding that stars travelled straight in all directions. Finally, all of four students whose preconceptions were that the star rotated perpendicularly showed the conceptual change of diurnal motion that the star traveled diagonally.

  • Recently, the integrated utilization of technology with IT is in demand for the effectiveness of field management together with the prevention and prompt action on safety accident at construction site. In addition, the establishment of construction site support system is necessary to implement the securing of worker's safety, smooth work instruction, efficiency in construction, and others. Data standardization and network architecture were designed regarding data and sound information for data transmission between systems and management. These were to construct USFSS based on integrated VI-GNSS technology in this research. In the stability test of data for each system constructed through it, around 98% stability was secured between workers and for transfer vehicle system within underground structure and field server system in regards to the data transmission stability, around 100% stability was secured between field server system and control system, respectively. Also, in the sound transmission stability test, around 99% reliability could be secured with 1km distance as its standard in case of sound transmission from underground structure construction site to field office near the field through wireless FRS system.

  • The purpose of this research was to analyze the impact of Collaborative Problem solving for Character competency (CoProC) applied science classes on the character competence and scientific affective characteristics of vocational high school students. To achieve this, two junior classes of chemical industry majors in a vocational high school, were selected as the experimental group with 43 participants, and character competence test, scientific affective characteristic test, group discussion voice recordings, reflection activity sheets were analyzed. Based on the results of the study, the experimental group showed a statistically significant differences in value for the total character competence test score compared to the control group, and it had statistically significant differences in the nine lower character competence factors. Based on the results of the scientific affective characteristic test result, the experimental group was higher in total score to a statistically significant degree compared to the control group, and showed a statistically significant difference in seven of the lower factors, excluding consistency in interest. Therefore, science classes with CoProC applied were effective in cultivating the character competence and enhancing the scientific affective characteristics of vocational high school students.

  • In this study, we suggest a tablet-PC based application as an instrument for self-examination of dementia and aim to evaluate its usability for the practical use. The tool for the self-diagnosis of dementia is testing a person's sentence comprehension, which is investigated by the accuracy of a sentence-picture matching task, and the result of the test can differentiate individuals with dementia of Alzheimer's type from normal aging population. According to its use for diagnosis of dementia, we developed a new version of sentence-picture matching task by a cooperative study with NABLE(Neurogenic communication And Brain Lab at Ewha) and applied to the application as a main function. Targeting the New Silver who are preliminary aged people in Korea, this application can provide them with three values: 'self-', 'easy', and 'simple'. When using this application, users can gain these values by an instruction manual with the recorded guide voice, easy-to-use functions and the simplified menu structure of it. After prototyping, we conducted the usability test and it was proved as a result that the New Silver users can easily operate the application by themselves.
