  • The operational environment of helicopters extends from the civil air traffic control system to remote and hazardous areas and from day operations under visual flight conditions to night operations in adverse weather. Helicopters can move in any direction, remain stationary while airborne, climb and descend vertically, and take off and land almost anywhere. Thus their range of maneuvers and control requirements vary more widely than do those of fixed-wing aircraft. In this study, I analyzed the job of helicopter pilot through methods of observation, and classified the required ability of them into the domain of cognitive, perceptual/spatial, psychomotor. I expect that the result of this study will be used to aid training and selection of helicopter pilot.

  • Photoelastic isochromatic fringes related to the difference of principal stresses have some bandwidth whose light intensities are not constant and unsymmetrical in experimental image. Hence it is difficult to measure fringe order accurately at a data point by visual observation. In this study, the method of fringe sharpening, which can extract sharpened lines from both full-and half-order fringes by digital image processing, is developed. To test the method, various simple photoelastic fringe patterns are simulated and their image are processed to yield sharpened lines. The method is than applied to general problem such as image of a circular disk compressed by concentrated loads and a cylinder subjected to internal pressure. The procedure is proved to be capable of extracting sharpened lines accurately from photoelastic isochromatic fringes.

  • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is an aerial vehicle that can accomplish the mission without pilot. UAV was developed for a military purpose such as a reconnaissance in an early stage. Nowadays usage of UAV expands into a various field of civil industry such as a drawing a map, broadcasting, observation of environment. These UAV, need vision system to offer accurate information to person who manages on ground and to control the UAV itself. Especially LOS(Line-of-Sight) system wants to precisely control direction of system which wants to tracking object using vision sensor like an CCD camera, so it is very important in vision system. In this paper, we propose a method to recognize object from image which is acquired from camera mounted on gimbals and offer information of displacement between center of monitor and center of object.

Bilateral Pallidotomy for Dystonia with Glutaric Aciduria Type 1

  • Glutaric aciduria type 1 is an inborn error of lysine, hydroxylysine, and tryptophan metabolism caused by deficiency of glutaryl-coenzyme A dehydrogenase. The disease often appears in infancy with encephalopathy episode that results in acute basal ganglia and white matter degeneration. The majority of patients develop a dystonic-dyskinetic syndrome. This reports 6year-old boy who had been done previous gastrostomy due to swallowing difficulty underwent bilateral pallidotomy with intraoperative electromyography[EMG] monitoring for disabling dystonia. Intraoperative EMG was used to assess stimulation thresholds required for capsular responses and muscle tone. Surface EMG electrodes were placed on the face and cricopharyngeal muscles. Exact target were directly modified according to MRI-visualized anatomy. EMG response was consistently seen prior to visual observation of muscle activity. The surgery improved dystonic symptoms without swallowing difficulty.

  • The steel impeller placed in a water pump has been studied with the aim to understand corrosion phenomena on the surface responsible for reducing the pumping efficiency of water inside cooling system. This preliminary experiment includes a period (around 1 month) observation with a powered microscope and weight measurements. The experiments are carried out at different conditions of water and mixtures of water and coolants, based on the water contents of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% water (pure tap water). From the visual results of microscopy, most of the steel surface is fitted and clear rusty or corrosion phenomena are noticeable as time goes. In addition, the weight loss of the sample specimen submerged in the water is linearly increased, whereas those in the mixtures of water initially gain weight and become almost constant.

  • In one VTR(Video Tape Recorder), two or more heads are used to record or reproduce video signals. To obtain a uniform quality of a VTR, video heads should have similar charcteristics such as geometrical shapes and electro-magnetic performances. This research is aimed to develop a visual inspection system that can measure four geoemtrical parameters;HO, HI, Tw and Cw. To obtain a high realable results, DSP based image board and target based image processing algorithms were used. A series of experiments was performed for one thousands of video heads. From observation of the experimental results, the system is found to show good performance for inspection of video heads.

  • Objective : The objective of this study is to observe the effect of anti-inflammatory herbal acupuncture, acupuncture, physical theraphy, external treatment, therapeutic exercise on the osteochondritis dissecans. Methods : Anti-inflammatory herbal acupuncture and acupuncture were used to treat knee pain and gait disturbance. We evaluated the patient through VAS(visual analogue scale) daily and symptoms. Results & Conclusions : After 31 days of treatment, right knee pain was decreased from VAS 10 to VAS 4, redness, burning sensation, edemaright of right knee were decreased. And the patient could walk. Oriental medicine treatment is proved to be helpful to imporve the symptoms of the osteochondritis dissecans.

A Study of Residents' Demand for External Space of Apartment Site (아파트 외부공간 실태와 조성기법)

  • This study derives problems of external space utilization site from on-site observation and questionnaire survey in order to suggest solutions for the problems. The main results are follows. First, fences as visual boundaries of apartment site play some negative roles - separation of space and heterogeneity of circumstance. This study suggests green fences to cure this problem. Second, residents want to change space use - ground to be used as green space or space for relaxation in stead of parking lots, elevator hall as social space, and underground as bike parks or health centers. Third, rooftop space, used as empty space or machine storage space, should be designed to be utilized as relaxation space by making easy to enter and exit.

  • This study was conducted to develop the crack location technique for CFRP reinforced concrete beam using AE method. To experimentally prove the crack source location made of four reinforced concrete beams strengthened in shear with CFRP. The results compared the real cracking location with the source location has perceived by AE monitoring, before it is appeared the primary crack by visual observation. So, This study used by a basic data in constructing the system of the failure warning at application.

  • 본 논문에서는 CONDENSATION 알고리즘을 이용하여 입자 필터(particle filter)에 기반한 물체 추적 알고리즘을 제안한다. 입자 필터는 조건 확률 전파 모델(Conditional Density Propagation)인 베이지안(Bayesian) 추론 규칙을 적용하는 추적 구조를 갖고 있기 때문에 다른 어떤 종류의 추적 알고리즘보다 뛰어난 성능을 보인다. 논문에서는 실험 결과를 통해, 외곽(Contour) 추적 입자 필터가 복잡한 환경 속에서 강인한 추적 성능을 나타냄을 증명한다.
