Effect of Project Communication caused by Visual Language under Project Environments (Visual Language를 통한 의사소통이 프로젝트에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Visual Language란 텍스트로 이루어진 문장이나 스프레드시트와 같은 도표형식의 정보전달과는 달리 전달하고자하는 사항을 가시화하여 그래프나 이미지 등으로 한 눈에 알아볼 수 있도록 하는 시각언어를 말한다. 본 논문에서는 전달방법에 따른 의사소통의 효과를 측정하는 연구모형을 제시하여 Visual Language와 Non-Visual Language를 통한 의사소통의 차이점을 비교 분석하였다. 연구결과 Visual Language를 통한 의사소통은 Non-Visual Language를 사용하는 것 보다 신속성 과 정확성 면에서 의사전달에 효과적이라는 사실을 알아낼 수 있었으며 Visual Language를 통한 의사소통은 프로젝트에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 사실을 밝혀내었다. 본 연구의 성과로는 프로젝트 관리 시 발생하는 각종 상황을 이해관계자에게 전달하는 수단으로 가시화된 언어를 사용하여 전달하고자 하는 바를 빠르고 정확하게 숙지시켜 원활한 소통을 지양하고 이로 인하여 프로젝트 성공률을 높이는 방안에 기여하는데 있다.

The Effects of Temporary Visual Block on the Foot Pressure and Foot Area of Chronic Stroke Patients (일시적인 시각차단이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 지면 족저압 분포와 족부면적에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of temporary visual block existence and nonexistence on the change in foot pressure and foot area in stroke patients. Methods: Sixty-one chronic stroke patients volunteered to participate in the study. Foot pressure and foot area were measured using the Biorescue system. The subject maintain a comfortable standing position on the pressure-measuring plate one meter away from the computer. The sequence of the visual variation data while standing on the measuring plate was collected randomly. The data were collected with three repetitions and used the five-second measuring values except the first second and the last second according to each visual condition. All data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. The significance level for the statistical inspection was set as 0.05. Results: The comparison between the visual existence and nonexistence status showed statistically significant effects on foot pressure and foot area. The visual nonexistence status showed more improvement in foot pressure symmetry and area than visual existence status. Conclusion: This study shows that the foot pressure and foot area for the chronic stroke patients changed according to the visual states. It is predicted that these data will be used in rehabilitation training programs and to present temporary changes in visual status for stroke patients.

A Study on the Shopping Life through Mobile Visual Search

  • Purpose - To examine the influence of mobile visual search as a strategic technology service on consumer perceived economic value and customer commitments, which in turn affect consumer's usage intention of mobile visual search. This study also explores the moderating effect of different levels of consumer online shopping orientation. Design/methodology/approach - One-by-one open-ended in-depth interview was first undertaken to 15 Korean consumers to figure the features of mobile visual search. Then a conceptual model was built to verify the hypotheses that indicate the impact of mobile visual search on consumer perceived economic value and customer commitment, which further influence consumer's usage intention. Findings - The results show Convenience, Information quality, Personalization, Text-free search interface design and Visual communication of mobile visual search positively influence consumer perceived economic value and customer commitment and in turn positively affect consumer's usage intention. Moreover, the different levels of consumer online shopping orientation also found to have different effects on consumers' perception and behavior of using mobile visual search in online fashion shopping. Research implications or Originality - The present study verified that mobile visual search is a service tool that consumers want to use in the online fashion shopping journey since it provides economic benefits.

The Neighborhood Effect in Korean Visual Word Recognition (한국어 시각단어재인에서 나타나는 이웃효과)

  • We investigated whether the first syllable plays an important role in lexical access in Korean visual word recognition. To do so, one lexical decision task (LDT) and two form primed LDT experiments examined the nature of the syllabic neighborhood effect. In Experiment 1, the syllabic neighborhood density and the syllabic neighborhood frequency was manipulated. The results showed that lexical decision latencies were only influenced by the syllabic neighborhood frequency. The purpose of experiment 2 was to confirm the results of experiment 1 with form-primed LDT task. The lexical decision latency was slower in form-related condition compared to form-unrelated condition. The effect of syllabic neighborhood density was significant only in form-related condition. This means that the first syllable plays an important role in the sub-lexical process. In Experiment 3, we conducted another form-primed LDT task manipulating the number of syllabic neighbors in words with higher frequency neighborhood. The interaction of syllabic neighborhood density and form relation was significant. This result confirmed that the words with higher frequency neighborhood are more inhibited by neighbors sharing the first syllable than words with no higher frequency neighborhood in the lexical level. These findings suggest that the first syllable is the unit of neighborhood and the unit of representation in sub-lexical representation is syllable in Korea.

Word Superiority Effect Based on the Hangeul Font Types (한글의 시각적 동일성과 친숙성에 따른 단어 우월 효과)

  • Two experiments were conducted to examine whether the word superiority effect (WSE) can be affected by visual familiarity of Hangout font and visual identicalness between target letter and test letter. In experiment 1, Using Batang-font as a target font, it was tested whether the consistency between test font and target font could affect the WSE across different display time conditions. In experiment 2, using the Batang-font and Sebeul-font, the effort of visual familiarity on WSE were investigated. The results revealed that the WSE was found regardless the consistency between target and test letter. In addition, it was found that visual familiarity could affect overall detection rate, but not WSE. These results suggested that the WSE on Hanguel is independent of visual properties.

The Mutual Effect and Evaluation of Visual Image according to Change in Waist Position and Pants Style (팬츠 스타일과 허리선 위치 변화에 따른 시각적 이미지의 평가와 상호효과)

  • This study evaluates the difference in visual images according to changes in waist position and pants style. The researcher made twelve stimuli-combination of four pants styles (classic, baggy, skinny, bell-bottom) and three waist positions (0cm, -3cm, -5cm). The test involved 48 female college students. The stimuli were made using the i-Designer computer program. The panels tested the screen images of all manikins wearing pants. A 7-point scale was used to evaluate each image. For the data analysis, the ANOVA and Duncan-test were applied along with an SPSS program. The results of this study are as follows. The visual evaluations by pants style and waist position are composed of seven factors (attractiveness, attention, hip, activity, height, waist, abdomen). Among these factors, attractiveness is evaluated to be the most important factor. The mutual agreement of the visual effect (according to pants style and waist position) was indicated as four factors of attractiveness, attention, waist, and abdomen. The height factor is evaluated to be the most important factor by change in regards to waist position. The 0cm waist position of three styles (classic, baggy, bell-bottom) were evaluated positively in elongated height whereas the -3cm, -5cm waist position of the skinny style was evaluated positively in elongated height. The mutual agreements of visual effect (according to pants style and waist position) were not indicated.

Exploring consumer awareness and attitudes towards eco-friendly packaging among undergraduate students in Korea

  • The global waste crisis has been escalating and its consequent impact on soil, water, air pollution, and eventually climate change acceleration has shed light on the importance of reducing waste. Amidst COVID-19 and the following surge in single-use plastics for food delivery, waste generation is on the incline. Companies and governments have embarked on developing various eco-friendly packaging technologies, but their effectiveness on the consumers is vague as definitions of eco-friendly packaging are vague, and research on its link to purchase intention remains scarce. Thus, the adoption of eco-friendly packaging has been slow. To address this issue, this study analyzes the awareness and purchase intention of four visual attributes of eco-friendly packaging-material, verbal statement, eco-label, and color-along with the environmental consciousness among undergraduate university students in Korea through online surveys and the ordered logit regression model. The study distinguished the attributes into evidence-based and conjectural categories. The findings revealed that eco-friendly visual attributes had a positive effect on purchase intention amongst undergraduate students in Korea; however the level of environmental consciousness had marginal effect on the purchase intention of eco-friendly visual attributes. The level of effectiveness also varied with each visual element. Analyses revealed that visual attributes to eco-friendly material had marginal effect on purchase intention; color was deemed not an "Eco-friendly attribute" by most students, and although eco-friendly labels were deemed as an eco-friendly attribute, trust in the labels varied according to environmental consciousness. These findings have implications for businesses and policymakers aiming to promote eco-friendly consumption within packaged food products.

Effect of Visual Information by Ultrasound on Maternal-Fetal Attachment (초음파 영상을 통한 태아의 모습 제공 여부가 임부의 태아 애착에 미치는 영향)

  • Providing visual information about the fetus to the mother by the ultrasound examination was found to be an effective nursing intervention to promote Maternal-Fetal Attachment. In keeping with the purpose of the study, to evaluate the effect of providing visual information by ultrasound on level of Maternal-Fetal Attachment, a non-equivalent experimental group quasi-experimental design was used. The data were collected using Cranley's Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale(1981) with a research questionnaire that consisted of 16 items on general characteristics and 23 items on Maternal-Fetal Attachment from November 2, 2000 to August 11, 2001. Subjects were 126 pregnant women who were received visual information by ultrasound and 123 pregnant women who did not receive visual information by ultrasound after finishing examination. The data were analyzed by using the SPSS/PC+ window 10.0 version program. The results of this study were as follows: There was no statistical difference in general characteristics between both groups. The scores on Maternal-Fetal Attachment at second trimester show no statistical difference (t=1.123, p=0.263). The scores on Maternal-Fetal Attachment in both groups increased between the second trimester and third trimester. However, the increase was greater in the group receiving visual information by ultrasound as compared to the group which did not receive the visual information(t=-2.152, p=0.032). This result shows that providing visual information about the fetus by the ultrasound examination is effective in increasing Maternal-Fetal Attachment.

Effect of EEG Wave Type on Visual Cortex of Visual Target according to Position of Fixation Point (주시점의 위치에 따른 시 표적이 시피질의 뇌파에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to investigate the effect of EEG wave type on visual cortex of visual target according to position of fixation point on the Korean. Visual evoked potential system used the BIO-Pag and recorded to 586 computer. The illumination was 500 lux and the visual target was red light dot of 3 cm size. The results of the convergence and divergence as follows: The visual stimulation waves on the visual cortex have about 70% of delta wave, about 10% of beta wave, about 9% of theta wave and about 7% of alpha wave respectively. The convergence state was much more appeared the fast wave on the comparative of the divergence. Therefore, the convergence state was much more producted the beta and alpha wave on the comparative of the divergence. On the other hand, on the convergence and divergence, the histogram amplitude of EEG wave appeared almost the non-Gaussian shape. According to the phase analysis of amplitude of EEG wave almost all type was linear shape.

Visual Preference of the Methods for River Embankment - The Case of Dongchon in Gwangyang - (하천호안공법의 시각적 선호도 - 광양시 동천을 사례로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate visual preferences of the methods for river embankment based on seasonal changes and to reveal the relationship between visual preference and effective factors, which are the physical and esthetic elements inside the river. For this research seven river embankment methods including concrete block, concrete wall, gabion, and vegetated concrete block were selected in Dongchon of Gwangyang. Twenty-eight pictures by the four pictures of each embankment method based on seasonal changes, the winter and summer of the first and second years after construction were used for a photo-questionnaire by 49 participants. In the analysis of the relationship between visual preference and effective factors, the independent variables included eight factors: form of the material, harmony with the surroundings, the cleanness of river floor, the green area of embankment methods, the water area in river floor, the stone and sand area in river floor, the planting area in river floor, and the area of embankment itself. The result of this study are as follows. First, visual preference in summer was higher than in winter, and the summer landscape of the second you scored the highest value for visual preference. Second, similarly to the way the vegetated concrete block produced a green effect, cobblestone and gabion embankments made of natural materials scored higher than others, whereas the concrete retaining wall scored the lowest of all methods because of it's artificiality. Third, the seven independent variables, except form of the material, are proved statistically significant at the 5% level. The water area in river floor, harmony with the surroundings, the planting area in river floor, and the cleanness of the river floor were revealed as more effective factors influencing visual preference. The research results suggest that the riverscape has to be controlled in terms of seasonal change and embankment methods. Natural materials and green effects in embankment methods are more important for increasing landscape preference, and the landscape factors inside a river should also be considered important variables. It is recommended that advanced study on other factors affecting visual preference of the riverscape be carried out to support this research.
