번호판 화질 개선을 위한 국부 블록 학습 기반의 초해상도 복원 알고리즘 (Local Block Learning based Super resolution for license plate)

  • 본 논문에서는 번호판 인식 시스템에서 번호판 영상의 화질 개선을 위하여 국부 블록(Local block : LB) 학습기반의 초해상도 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 국부 블록은 영상 내에서 정보를 담고 있는 최소 단위로 정의하였으며, 학습의 기본 단위가 된다. 제안된 방법은 먼저 다양한 환경에 적합한 훈련 국부 블록 set을 생성하였다. 훈련 국부 블록 set은 고해상도 국부 블록과 저해상도 국부 블록의 순서쌍으로 구성되며 다양한 크기의 번호판과 열화 영상에 대응하기 위하여 다양한 크기와 열화를 갖는 저해상도 국부 블록 훈련 set을 구성하였다. 그 다음으로는 저해상도 입력 영상에서 복원해야할 정보를 훈련 국부 블록 set에서 추출/융합하는 과정을 제안하였다. 모의 실험결과, 열화된 저해상도 번호판 영상에 대해 제안한 방법이 효과적인 복원 성능을 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

인간 시각 모델을 이용한 블록 부호화에서의 경계 현사의 제거 (Reduction of the Blocking Effect in Block Coded Images Using Human Visual Model)

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the blocking effect of block coded images, we propose the method considering the lowpass and bandpass components of Granrath's human visual model. This method consists of two-stage enhancement procedure. The first step is lowpass filtering which smooths out the blocking effect, and the second step is a high frequency enhancement procedure to increase the contrast decreased by the lowpass filtering in the first step. In the first step, the one-dimensional Gaussian filter which aligthns parallel to the edge direction is considered to preserve the edge in the block and the two-dimensional Gaussian filter is used to smooth out the blocking effect near the block boundaries. In the second step, the lowpass and bandpass components of the Granrath's model are considered to increase contrast in a restored image. The performance comparison of the proposed method and the existing mehtods is made by a computer simulation with several block coded images. We can see that the enhancement in the subjective quality of images of the proposed method is more significant than the enhancement in the subjective quality of images of the proposed method is more significant than the existing methods, though the proposed method does not show better performance on the PSNR gain, the poor measure of picture quality for block coded images.

Robust Motion Compensated Frame Interpolation Using Weight-Overlapped Block Motion Compensation with Variable Block Sizes to Reduce LCD Motion Blurs

  • Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) have slow responses, so motion blurs are often perceived in fast moving scenes. To reduce this motion blur, we propose a novel method of robust motion compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) based on bidirectional motion estimation (BME) and weight-overlapped block motion compensation (WOBMC) with variable block sizes. In most MCFI methods, a static block size is used, so some block artefacts and motion blurs are observed. However, the proposed method adjusts motion block sizes and search ranges by comparing matching scores, so the precise motion vectors can be estimated in accordance with motions. In the MCFI, overlapping ranges for WOBMC are also determined by adjusted block sizes, so the accurate MCFI can be performed. In the experimental results, the proposed method strongly reduced motion blurs arisen from large motions, and yielded interpolated images with high visual performance and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR).

블록기반 동영상 부호화기의 객관적 화질평가 (Objective Picture Quality Assessment of Block Based Moving Picture Coder)

  • Conventional MSE or PSNR based methods for objective picture quality assessment of moving picture coder are not well correlated with subjective human evaluation. In recent years, the design of better objective quality assessment has attracted much intention and several picture quality metrics based on the properties of Human Visual System has been proposed. This paper proposes new metric which is appropriate for objective picture quality assessment of block based moving picture coder by considering frequency sensitivity, inter-intra channel masking and several distortion artifacts caused by block based coding. The experimental results show that the proposed method is good correlated with subjective assessment.

  • 본 논문은 블록기반 DCT 부호화기의 성능 검증에 필수적인 부호화된 영상의 열화 정도를 측정하는 새로운 정량적 화질평가 모델은 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 HVS 기반의 다채널 시각 모델을 이용하여 영상신호에 있어서의 주파수 민감도와 채널의 마스킹 효과를 고려한 공간 영역상의 전반적인 왜곡의 가시도 뿐만 아니라 블록기반 DCT 부호화에서 발생할 수 있는 구획화 현상, 번짐, ringing 등의 국부적인 왜곡 특성을 측정하여 이를 화질 열화 특성에 반영하였다.

조선 조립블록 운영관리에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Assembly Block Operations Management at Shipyard)

  • How to efficiently manage assembly blocks at shipyard has been a hot management issue in the shipbuilding Industry, because it has significantly influenced on the productivity of shipbuilding process. This paper introduces the real practice of assembly block operations management in Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and the Ship Assembly Block Operations Optimization (SABOO) project that h3s been launched in HHI as an academy-and-industry collaborative project, aimed to diagnose problems, propose possible solutions, and develop a prototype system in order to search ways of improving the assembly block operations management. Through the field interviews, observations, and benchmarking studies, the SABOO project diagnosed the most rudimental and urgent problem and proposed possible solutions. In addition, the SABOO project developed the prototype system that embodied the visual function of monitoring the shipyard on a real-time and the Interactive block assignment function that utilized the assembly block assignment algorithm developed by the project. As a whole, the SABOO project tested the possibility and gained an insight in extending the functions of block transportation/stockyard management system.

서브 블록을 이용한 MPEG-2 인트라 프레임의 시간적 오류 은닉 (Subblock Based Temporal Error Concealment of Intra Frame for MPEG-2)

  • The occurrence of a single bit error in transmission bitstream leads to serious temporal and spatial errors. Because moving picture coding as MPEG-2 based on block coding algorithm uses variable length coding and motion compensation coding algorithm. In this paper, we propose algorithm to conceal occurred error of I-frames in transmission channel using data of the neighboring blocks in decoder. We divide a damaged macroblock of I-frame into four sub blocks and compose new macroblock using the neighboring blocks for each sub block. We estimate the block with minimum difference value through block matching with previous frame for new macroblocks and replace each estimated block with damaged sub block in the same position. Through simulation results, the proposed algorithm will be applied to a characteristic of moving with effect and shows better performance than conventional error concealment algorithms from visual and PSNR of view.

  • In this paper, we compared and analyzed for safety 1.2m rectangular anchor block and arch-type root anchor block. First, numerical analysis was performed three-dimensional nonlinear method by numerical model test using finite element analysis program "Visual FEA". Then, measure displacement of the surface of the earth after construct each anchor block at 14M electric pole and increase loads through field verification tests for safety evaluation.

X-ray 영상을 위한 블록 기반 대비 개선 기법 (Block-based Contrast Enhancement Algorithm for X-ray Images)

  • 자연 영상들을 위한 전형적인 지역적 대비 개선 기법을 X-ray 영상에 적용할 경우, X-ray 고유의 특성을 고려하지 않기 때문에 과도한 개선이 이루어지거나 부자연스러운 화질을 생성하는 화상의 결함이 발생할 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문은 지역적으로 X-ray 영상을 위한 블록 기반 대비 개선 기법을 제안한다. 먼저 블록 단위로 가중치 누적 분포 변환 함수를 도출하고, 이를 이용한 블록 단위 대비 개선을 수행한다. 다음으로, 블록 기반 중첩을 적용하여 블록화 현상이 제거된 영상을 획득한다. 후처리로 고주파 성분을 강조하여 최종 영상을 획득한다. 모의실험을 통해 제안한 블록 기반 대비 개선 기법이 일반적인 대비 개선 기법보다 정량적인 대비 개선 척도에서 최대 5배 우수함을 확인하였다.
