Size, velocity, and time equivalence are mechanisms that allow us to perceive objects in three-dimensional space consistently, despite errors on the two-dimensional retinal image. These mechanisms work on common cues, suggesting that the perception of motion distance, motion speed, and motion time may share common processing. This can lead to the hypothesis that, despite the spatial nature of visual stimuli distorting temporal perception, the perception of motion speed and the perception of motion duration will tend to oppose each other, as observed for objects moving in the environment. To test this hypothesis, the present study measured perceived speed using Müller-Lyer illusion stimulus to determine the relationship between the time-perception consequences of motion stimuli observed in previous studies and the speed perception measured in the present study. Experiment 1 manipulated the perceived motion trajectory while controlling for the retinal motion trajectory, and Experiment 2 manipulated the retinal motion trajectory while controlling for the perceived motion trajectory. The result is that the speed of the inward stimulus, which is perceived to be shorter, is estimated to be higher than that of the outward stimulus, which is perceived to be longer than the actual distance traveled. Taken together with previous time perception findings, namely that time perception is expanded for outward stimuli and contracted for inward stimuli, this suggests that when the perceived trajectory of a stimulus manipulated by the Müller-Lyer illusion is controlled for, perceived speed decreases with increasing duration and increases with decreasing duration when the perceived distance of the stimulus is constant. This relationship suggests that the relationship between time and speed perceived by spatial cues corresponds to the properties of objects moving in the environment, i.e, an increase in time decreases speed and a decrease in time increases speed when distance remains the same.

This study emphasizes users' participation, a living-transforming visuality, as users have appeared to be a central element of landscape design but ignored before. Also this study tries to propose meaning of extended visuality in contemporary landscape design on the basis of visual criticism on simple perception-and contemplations convention-based landscape design. For these purposes, this study reviews characteristics of visual changes appeared in modern reductionist paintings. In other words, arts can be interpreted in polysemous ways through bodies' experience. Deconstructive concepts derived from the theoretical reviews can be categorized into three including the participation of the users' bodies from a contemplative point of view, textuality and intertextuality, and experiences from works. Those concepts were used to criticize the previous discourse on landscape designs and to analyze various issues in the theories, themes and techniques in contemporary landscape design. The significance of the expanded visuality in contemporary landscape design is that it brings the users' voluntary participation. This structure can serve as a tool to obtain the users' perceptive effects. At the same time, it can be regarded as a process of establishing the relationships between the users and the works. Thus emphasis is placed not only on the influences of the effects structure of the works themselves, but also on the many different dimensions related to the users' bodies. It implies that the meaning of design is not determined by the designer but a product resulted from the voluntary relationships between users and works. These findings lead to ambiguous distinctions between arts everyday life, and eventually to the end of the concepts of formative dichotomous aesthetics and their effectiveness. Finding of this study call for not only redefining the space where landscape design is created and communicated, but also reconsidering the concepts of landscape design and its ontological meanings.

Human senses have been studied widely. Many studied are being actively conducted to analyze correlations between two or more different senses. Among them, research on tactile visuality where a subject can indirectly experience visual sensation through tactile elements is also progressing in various fields. In this study, we analyzed color information by having subjects perceive sandpapers with different roughness through tactile sense, then having them choose a color that is reminiscent of the tactile sensation. Unlike existing tactile-visuality studies allowing the perception of indirect visual sense by using tactile sense, this study shows that it is possible to analyze with quantitative value by representing visual image perceived by tactile sense as a color. This study will contribute to emotional evaluation research that combines two or more of the senses felt by humans, and especially is considered to be useful as basic data when conducting research about tactile visuality or auditory tactile sense.
This research was performed to analyze quantitatively how spiritual stress affects some ERPs on human through sight stimulus after the settlement of visual and auditory integration environment in three dimension space. We measured ERPs in the normal state and spiritual stress sessions separately. The subjects were 10 normal men and women and vital signs was recorded from Fpl, Fz, Cz, Pz, O1, O2's scalps. The experiment was done in isolated room where electro-magnetic effect do not affect. The result showed that P300's amplitude was a little higher under stress session and latent period in this resulted in longer time. We recorded through voltage variation the activity of brain which is in charge of human's perception. cognition, process of action and evaluated the effect of spiritual stress. We expected that the result of this research can be used to evaluate the malfunction of brain.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception of middle schooler's lesson of 9th grade "Housing Education" Questionnaire survey was conducted with 394 middle school students in Gyeongnam in 2006 and the dada analyzed by the descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis by using SPSS 14. program. The result of this study were as follows. The unit 'Use of dwelling space' was perceived useful in real life, interesting in explanation & visual materials of the text, taught easily to understand the students and ranked highest in class satisfaction compared with the rest two units. The unit 'Indoor environment & equipment' was least interesting, most difficult and ranked lowest in class satisfaction. The unit 'House management & repair' was relatively interesting and easy, but not useful in real life, not much interesting in explanation & visual materials in text, taught difficult by teachers. The class satisfaction ranked second of the units. Female students perceived that the unit 'Use of dwelling space' was easy, but male students perceived that all the units were interesting in the explanation & visual materials in textbook, various teaching-learning methods, interesting experiment & practice, and was satisfied with the unit 'House management & repair'. As their academic achievement of "Technology & Home Economics" was lower, they perceived that the education contents and various experiment & practice were more difficult. The class satisfaction of middle schoolers about the unit "Housing Education" were affected by how easily the teacher taught the subject, making it more understandable, the level of difficulty of the contents and the level of interest of explanation & visual materials of text.
Domestic sign industry has seen a rapid growth in recent years, however, the level of quality is not so high. The main reason for this is due to the lack of well educated specialists. Thus, in this investigation, we will develop sign design experience software for the experienced employees in sign industry. Especially, focusing on the indoor letter information, we will develop the software that can provide the graphic effect associated with letter information. First, current situation and preliminary study in sign system used in public information were conducted, then design elements were analyzed from this. Then, experiments were performed on teh analyzed elements, and evaluation methods for the sign design were determined. Experiments including typography, color, layout, line alignment, letter space, and line space were conducted to analyze the visual perception. From these experiments, effective elements can be extracted and used as a elements for sign design software. As a next step, we will propose the development of experience software in sign design that can help to determine the sign elements. Thus, our investigation will provide sign design experience software that can be used by any inexperienced individuals, and be a great help for the more effective sign planning.

A began of this study is to verify Spontaneous Acoustic Field Reproduction System(SAFRS), developed as an embodiment of creating agreeable sound environment, with evaluation on the field application. SAFRS is a system to sense changes of surroundings and produce sounds, which can go well with environment elements sensed by the system in to the space. The sound which can go well with environment elements is sound which judged by individual evaluation to be so, the classification of the preferred sounds according to the mood of the space was suggested in the former study. So, SAFRS was applied into the Square of D University to evaluate effectiveness of the system. The executed evaluations were 1) evaluation on sounds perception, frequency, volume and matchability with the space, 2) image evaluation on the square and sound environment and 3) evaluation on sound environment with existing sounds, fountains sound, sound produced by SAFRS, and both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS. Verifying SAPRS of field application was deduced from those evaluations. Theresultsofthestudyarefollowing: Though the system was applied into the space, the volume of the sounds shouldn't be too high. And with visual surroundings, the effectiveness of the system would be increased. At the results of four evaluations, the result of day evaluation is; both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS>fountains sound>sound produced by SAFRS>existing sounds, the result of night evaluation is; sound produced by SAFRS>both fountains sound and sound produced by SAFRS>fountains sound>existing sounds and these results pointed out that sounds environment produced by the system was highly evaluated due to less background sounds.
The line of demarcation separating architecture from the art in recent years has blurred, due to the expantionist aspects between. This is a study of the direction which contemporary architecture and art are now taking. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The direction of contemporary architecture is revealed through the works of deconstructivist architects and Hans Hollein. Deconstructivist architects have incooperated abstract forms and concepts for their expression. Also Hans Hollein has brought a new aspect to architecture by combining the aura of spirituality and the use of collage. 2. The direction of contemporary art is revealed through the works of installation artists. Daniel Buren works on the interactivity between the object and the observer. Dan Graham deals with the social issues which caused by the interrelation between the eyes and the visual media. Jae-en Choi works on the actual architectural site and space capturing the spirit of what the space is for shile Jung-hwa Jung deals with the layers of perception within a particular space. Another realm coming into being is the cooperation between artists and architects. The cooperation of Holl and Acconci is expressed through their joint project Storefront Gallery. It is the development of Accocis concept of boundary and Holls methodology. Another example of this realm is revealed through the Fish Gallery of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Gehry was introduced to the nature of material by Serra and Serra learned of new ways of viewing the existence of space between materials from Gehry. These new relationships between contemporary architecture and art are reciprocal in nature are indicators of a dynamic and new changing cooperation now emerging.
The scale of visual expression has expanded from freeze frame to motion picture as media have developed. Moving pictures such as animation, movies, TV CM and GUI become formative elements whose movement is necessary compared to freeze frame as apparent movement phenomenon and unit structure such as short and scene appear. Therefore, of formative elements such as a shape, color, space, size and movement, movement is importantly distinguished in the moving image. The expression and form of image as a relationship between the signified and signifier explained by Saussure are accepted as a sign by mutual complement even though they limit the content. This makes it possible to infer that the formal feature of movement participates in the message content. To verify this, the result of moving picture visual perception experiment based on the gestalt grouping principle result shows that 70-80 percent of subjects think that 'movement' is the important grouping clue in perception. Movement affects the maintenance of the context of message content in the communication process when the meaning structure of moving picture is analyzed based on the structural feature. The identity can be maintained with if there is a movement with similar directive point even if the color and shape of people, things and background are changed. Second, the clarity of the content is elevated by a distinguished object as a figure by movement. Third, it acts as a knowledge representation which can predict similar movement process of next information processing. Forth, movement gives the content consistency even though more than two scenes have fast switch and complicated editing structure like cross-cutting. Movement becomes a clue which can make grouping information input by visual perception reaction. Also, it gives the order to the visual expression which can be used improperly by formation of structural frame of image message and has the effectiveness which elevates the clarity of signification. Moving picture has discourse with several mixed unit structures because it fundamentally contains time and the common and distinguished expression is needed by media-mix circumstances. Therefore, by the application of gestalt grouping principle to moving picture field, movement becomes the more distinguished than other formative elements and affects the formation of meaning structure. This study propose a viewpoint that develops structural formative beauty and new image expression in the media image field.
Contemporary 21st century, the rapid development of technology has achieved due to the emergence of various digital devices, a variety of media to the diversification of the limits of visual representation is reduced. Therefore, the combination of technology and art, visual arts, giving limits of getting it free to the public will feel fresh new visual impact. In this study, as a new technology of a projection mapping to study the technique of looking for the definition of mapping practices to maximize the effectiveness of Visual Perception 3D animation was applied to a case study. A combination of 3D animation and project mapping in the future the fusion of art and technology to meet the zeitgeist with new possibilities of visual art to create synergies that is expected.
