Comparison of Motor Skill Acquisition according to Types of Sensory-Stimuli Cue in Serial Reaction Time Task

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether types of sensory-stimuli cues in terms of visual, auditory, and visuoauditory cues can be affected to motor sequential learning in healthy adults, using serial reaction time task. Methods: Twenty four healthy subjects participated in this study, who were randomly allocated into three groups, in terms of visual-stimuli (VS) group, auditory-stimuli (AS) group, and visuoauditory-stimuli (VAS) group. In SRT task, eight Arabic numbers were adopted as presentational stimulus, which were composed of three different types of presentational modules, in terms of visual, auditory, and visuoauditory stimuli. On an experiment, all subjects performed total 3 sessions relevant to each stimulus module with a pause of 10 minutes for training and pre-/post-tests. At the pre- and post-tests, reaction time and accuracy were calculated. Results: In reaction time, significant differences were founded in terms of between-subjects, within-subjects, and interaction effect for group ${\times}$ repeated factor. In accuracy, no significant differences were observed in between-group and interaction effect for groups ${\times}$ repeated factor. However, a significant main effect of within-subjects was observed. In addition, a significant difference was showed in comparison of differences of changes between the pre- and post-test only in the reaction time among three groups. Conclusion: This study suggest that short-term sequential motor training on one day induced behavioral modification, such as speed and accuracy of motor response. In addition, we found that motor training using visual-stimuli cue showed better effect of motor skill acquisition, compared to auditory and visuoauditory-stimuli cues.

포장의 시각적 요소가 소비자의 미각 이미지 판단에 미치는 영향 연구 - 캔 맥주 포장의 색채와 패턴을 중심으로 - (Research on the Influence of Packaging Visual Elements on the Consumers' Taste Image Judgment - Take the colors and patterns of canned beer as an Example -)

  • The visual design elements of packaging play an vital role in attracting consumers' attention, forming their sense of pleasure and sensory expectations, as well as having an important impact on the actual product experience. This study aims to explore whether the colors and textures in the packaging design elements of canned beer will affect consumers' senses, judgments and taste perception of canned beer. Participants in Survey I (N=193) evaluated their expectations for beer freshness, softness, bitterness and alcohol content by observing the packaging of canned beer, then recorded whether they could get the expected experience when tasting beer, and evaluated their preference and purchase intention. In the Survey II, 4 kind of colors and 2 types of texture shapes were applied, and all participants were provided with the same beer for multivariate cross contract analysis to evaluate the specific impact of color and texture of packaging design elements on consumers' taste and the interaction between sensory judgment and taste perception.The results showed that both colors and textures had a significant affect on the sensory expectation (pre-tasting score) of canned beer, but their effects on the sensory score after tasting (actual perception)were inobvious. The analysis of the influence of the interaction between color, texture and shape on taste perception shows that when the expected packaging appearance perception is similar to the actual drinking perception (i.e., straight line and B/G or arc line and Y/R), it is more likely to obtain consumers' favor and higher purchase intention evaluation than the inconsistent canned beer packaging (i.e., straight line and Y/R and arc line and B/G). This paper discusses the influence of these results on the packaging design of canned beer and the possibility of improving the brand efficiency by meeting the visual elements of packaging design expected by consumers.

스마트환경의 효과적인 UXD를 위한 인지작용 고찰 (Consideration for cognitive effects in smart environments for effective UXD(User eXperience Design))

  • 21세기의 기술은 무선인터넷 기술 발달로 스마트환경을 급속도로 정착시켰다. 이러한 환경 속에 사용자들은 많은 스마트기기와 스마트콘텐츠를 접하고 있다. 본 연구는 스마트환경을 분석하고 스마트매체와 사용자간 인지작용에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 인지작용은 행위를 관찰, 기술하고, 사용자 중심의 시스템을 디자인하고, 사용자를 교육시키는데 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 이를 중심으로 UX(User eXperience)와 UXD(User eXperience Design)에 대해 이론적 고찰을 하고, '시각적 측면, 상호 동작성(인터렉션) 측면, 기술적 측면'에서 사례 분석하여 효과적인 UXD(User eXperience Design) 인지작용을 사례를 통해 고찰해 보았다. 그 결과 시각적인 측면에서 사용자의 경험을 토대로 쉽게 알고 사용할 수 있는 디자인이 되어야하고, 소리나 인터랙션을 통한 사용자와 기기간의 상호동작(인터랙션)을 하고 있다는 것을 제공해야 하며, 위치기반인식이나 음성인식 등의 기술을 통해 사용자의 편의성을 도와야한다. 본 연구를 통하여 스마트환경과 인지작용의 이해를 돕고, 효과적인 UXD(User eXperience Design) 활용에 도움을 주고자 한다.

TV 가상 스튜디오용 인터랙티브 VFX 시스템 (Interactive VFX System for TV Virtual Studio)

  • 본 논문에서는 방송국 그린 스튜디오에 서 있는 연기자와 CG로 표현되는 스페셜 이펙트(물, 불, 연기 등)와의 상호작용을 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다. 기존의 가상 스튜디오는 주로 CG 배경과 연기자 촬영 영상을 정합하는 방법에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 기존의 연구와 달리 본 논문에서는 실제 연기자와 상호작용하는 비주얼 이펙트를 시뮬레이션하는데 집중함으로써 TV 화면에서 새로운 영역을 표현하고자 한다. 연기자 동작에 비주얼 이펙트를 연동하기 위하여 깊이 카메라를 이용하여 연기자 동작을 추출한다. 이를 3차원 벡터 필드로 변환하고 Navier Stokes 방정식의 외력으로 적용하여 물, 불, 연기의 유체를 시뮬레이션한다. 특히, 물의 상호작용을 사실적으로 표현하기 위하여 물에 연동되는 스플레쉬의 상호작용도 함께 시뮬레이션하여 물이 등장하는 비주얼 이펙트의 사실감을 극대화시켰다. TV의 실시간 녹화를 지원하기 위하여 GPU 프로그래밍을 도입하여 VFX의 실시간 상호작용을 지원하는 기능도 추가하였다. 제안된 방법의 유용성은 물, 불, 연기, 바다 속 물고기 떼 등의 VFX 시뮬레이션과 연기자와의 상호작용 실험을 통하여 확인할 수 있었다.

가젯암: 확장현실을 위한 손 제스처 기반 대화형 데이터 시각화 시스템 (Gadget Arms: Interactive Data Visualization using Hand Gesture in Extended Reality)

  • 가상 및 증강현실과 같은 확장현실(XR: Extended Reality)은 몰입형 데이터 시각화 및 분석을 위한 거대한 잠재력을 가지고 있다. 확장현실에서 사용자는 3차원 가상 공간을 활용하여 데이터 및 여러 사용자와 사실적으로 상호 작용할 수 있으므로 보다 직관적인 데이터 분석이 가능하다. 그러나 확장현실의 장점을 제대로 활용하기 위한 시각화를 생성하는 것은 복잡한 프로그래밍이 필요하기 때문에 상당히 어려운 일이다. 본 논문에서는 손 제스처만으로 XR을 위한 시각화 전 과정을 수행하고, 모든 3차원 공간을 활용할 수 있는 가젯암(Gadget Arms) 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템에서 분석가는 데스크탑 기반 환경이나 복잡한 프로그래밍을 사용할 필요 없이 XR 기기를 착용한 상태에서 직관적으로 전체 시각화 공간을 디자인할 수 있으며, 가상의 손을 임의의 3차원 공간에 자유자재로 위치시킬 수 있는 인터랙션을 통해 거대한 3차원 공간을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있다. 우리는 사용자 연구를 통해 제안된 시스템이 시각화 제작과 공간 활용의 사용성을 크게 향상시시키는 것을 확인하였다.

지각자의 성격특성이 의복의 시각적 평가에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Perceiver's Personality on Visual Evaluation of Clothing)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out differences of visual evaluation according to perceiver's personality(introvert-extrovert) and clothing styles. Subjects were 120 women in age from 18 to 31 years in Seoul. The stimuli of 7 clothing styles were used for visual evaluation. Three dimensions of visual evaluation were derived by falters analysis: elegance, activity individuality, and fashionability. The pants suit was estimated low in activity individuality and fashionability, but the hip-hop style high in activity individuality. The skirt suit was rated high in elegance, but the 8th length pants low in elegance. Personality had significant influences on the evaluation of activity individuality. Extrovert women perceived all stimuli to be more active and individual than introvert. Fashionability factor had an interaction effect by personality and clothing expenses. The introvert women in low clothing expenses group evaluated the stimuli to be more fashionable than the introvert in high clothing expenses group. There were significant differences in preference of all clothing styles according to personality. Extrovert women liked 8th length pants more than introvert. The introvert women in low clothing expenses group liked the skirt suit less than the extrovert.

  • 대중음악 공연에서 영상의 활용빈도가 점차로 늘어나고 있다. 과거에는 영상을 단순히 섞는 비디오 편집기를 이용하는 방식이 주로 사용되었으나 현재는 컴퓨터 기술의 발달로 인해 다양한 소프트웨어를 이용해 제어하기도 쉬워졌으며, 특이하고 개성 있는 표현 방식이 나타나게 되었다. 초창기의 대중음악 공연장에서 영상의 활용은 주로 규모가 큰 공연장에서 비용과 시간이 많이 소모되는 복잡한 장비를 사용해야 했지만 현재는 작은 규모의 클럽에서도 대중음악 공연영상작업을 손쉽게 할 수 있을 정도로 장비가 소형화 되고 발전되었다. 특히 컴퓨터를 주로 이용하게 되면서 단순히 영상을 섞는 브이제잉에서 인터랙티브가 가능한 방향으로 다양하게 발전하고 있다 본 연구에서는 대중음악공연에서 주로 사용되고 있는 브이제잉 중 특히 실시간으로 소리와 시각이미지가 상호 변환하는 인터랙티브 미디어아트가 활용되는 방안을 중심으로 분석하여 정리해 보았다.

페플럼의 위치와 양에 따른 시각적 평가 (Visual Evaluation according to Changes in Volume and Position of Peplums)

  • In this study, visual evaluation was performed with changes in peplums design to provide data which can enhance wearing image effects at the production of peplums one-piece. According to changes in volume and position of peplums, a total of 9 stimulants were chosen. Then, they were evaluated using a seven-point rating scale against 50 fashion students. The data has been analyzed by Factor Analysis, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$'s Test and the MCA method. The results of the study are as follows : 1. According to factor analysis, the components of visual evaluation depending on the changes in volume and position variations of peplums were divided into four factors: elegance, individuality, upper body correction and upper body emphasis. 2. According to visual evaluation depending on changes in the position variations of peplum, 'high waist' and 'natural waist' revealed a significant difference in elegance, individuality and upper body correction. 'Low waist' was observed in all four positions. 3. According to visual evaluation depending on the changes in volume of peplums, a significant difference at $45^{\circ}$ was observed in except for elegance. Significant differences at $90^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$ were observed in all four positions. 4. In terms of interactions over in volume and position variations of peplums, interaction effects were found in two factors.

Measuring Visual Attention Processing of Virtual Environment Using Eye-Fixation Information

  • Numerous scholars have explored the modeling, control, and optimization of energy systems in buildings, offering new insights about technology and environments that can advance industry innovation. Eye trackers deliver objective eye-gaze data about visual and attentional processes. Due to its flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency in research, eye tracking has a control scheme that makes measuring rapid eye movement in three-dimensional space possible (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality). Because eye movement is an effective modality for digital interaction with a virtual environment, tracking how users scan a visual field and fix on various digital objects can help designers optimize building environments and materials. Although several scholars have conducted Virtual Reality studies in three-dimensional space, scholars have not agreed on a consistent way to analyze eye tracking data. We conducted eye tracking experiments using objects in three-dimensional space to find an objective way to process quantitative visual data. By applying a 12 × 12 grid framework for eye tracking analysis, we investigated how people gazed at objects in a virtual space wearing a headmounted display. The findings provide an empirical base for a standardized protocol for analyzing eye tracking data in the context of virtual environments.

  • This paper discusses the technical exploration of Ang Lee's cinematic works and the unique visual beauty he presents. Ang Lee has successfully tackled various themes and genres, creating films that harmoniously blend Eastern and Western cultural sensibilities. These films are technologically innovative and show the interaction between technology and art, industry and culture. Therefore, this paper analyses the correlation between film technology and visual beauty in Ang Lee's works, and explores the discourse on how the relationship between film technology and art has changed with the development of film. Furthermore, this paper aims to provide insights into how technological innovation can enhance artistic creativity. The contribution of this study lies in the in-depth exploration of the relationship between film technology and art, with a focus on technological innovation and the visual beauty in Ang Lee's works. The research findings reveal that Ang Lee's films showcase the application of advanced technologies, captivating audiences with their unique visual aesthetics. The utilization of emerging technologies enables his films to possess not only visual impact but also convey profound emotions and themes. We conclude that technological innovation in film not only provides artists with more creative tools and expressive techniques but also, when combined with artistic sensibilities, creates captivating and visually expressive cinematic works. This discovery offers a new perspective for film production and opens up greater possibilities for collaboration between artists and technology experts.
