The pixel art style evolved from the shortcomings of computer image display technology has gradually transformed from a technical limitation into a widely recognized form of artistic expression since development in the early 20th century. This study analyzes the application and characteristics of the expandability of pixel art style design content in sub industries such as physical goods, environmental design, website design, digital art and illustration in the design field. It aims to explore the visual expression and sustainable development form of pixel art style under the development of new media technology that contradicts traditional technological concepts. The research results show that although the pixel art style generally pursues external visual features such as pixelated visual effects, sawtooth and matrix arrangements, its expansion in the art field shows a unique diversity of visual expressions. It has become an important means to convey nostalgic emotions and cultural values. Through this research, we hope to inspire more academic researchers and technology practitioners to explore the development potential of the pixel art style in emerging fields and promote its innovative application in design practice.

A variety of multimedia applications require multimedia database management systems to manage multimedia data, such as text, image, and video, as well as t support content-based image or video retrieval. In this paper we design and implement a content-based image retrieval system, BADA-IV/I$^2$R(Image Information Retrieval), which is developed based on BADA-IV multimedia database management system. In this system image databases can be efficiently constructed and retrieved with the visual features, such as color, shape, and texture, of image. we extend SQL statements to define image query based on both annotations and visual features of image together. A high-dimensional index structure, called CIR-tree, is also employed in the system to provide an efficient access method to image databases. We show that BADA-IV/I$^2$R provides a flexible way to define query for image retrieval and retrieves image data fast and effectively: the effectiveness and performance of image retrieval are shown by BEP(Bull's Eye Performance) that is used to measure the retrieval effectiveness in MPEG-7 and comparing the performance of CIR-tree with those of X-tree and TV-tree, respectively.
In this paper, we propose efficient content-based image retrieval methods using the automatic extraction of the low-level visual features as image content. Two new feature extraction methods are presented. The first one os an advanced color feature extraction derived from the modification of Stricker's method. The second one is a texture feature extraction using some DCT coefficients which represent some dominant directions and gray level variations of the image. In the experiment with an image database of 200 natural images, the proposed methods show higher performance than other methods. They can be combined into an efficient hierarchical retrieval method.

To retrieve complex data such as images in multimedia information, we need the content-based retrieval methods based on the visual properties rather than keywords. In this paper, a contrent-based image retrieval system is desinged and implemented to retrieve images using the features of images such as colors, lines and intensity vetor features when a visual query inputs. The contents for image retrievals are the color features extracted from the color component of 16 blocks of the image, th eline features extracted form 4 lines in the image and the shape features extracted from the intensity vectors of the 16 blocks. We can either use a whole image or a sketch image for query. As the experimental results demonstrate the precision 91% the recall 33% and the average rank 3.1 the retrieval performance is found to be high. The experimental results indicate that the retrieval using the weighted features have led to substantial improvement in the percision and performance of system.
This paper presents content adaptive image watermark embedding using stochastic visual model based on multiwavelet transform. To embedding watermark, the original image is decomposed into 4 levels using a discrete multiwavelet transform, then a watermark is embedded into the JND(just noticeable differences) of the image each subband. The perceptual model is applied with a stochastic approach fer watermark embedding. This is based on the computation of a NVF(noise visibility function) that have local image properties. The perceptual model with content adaptive watermarking algorithm embed at the texture and edge region for more strongly embedded watermark by the JND. This method uses stationary Generalized Gaussian model characteristic because watermark has noise properties. The experiment results of simulation of the proposed watermark embedding method using stochastic visual model based on multiwavelet transform techniques was found to be excellent invisibility and robustness.
The current study investigated the relationship between image processed data and human visibility data for natural forest scenes from the perspective of color. In particular, the results indicated relatively low Pearson product-moment correlations between the color ratings obtained from the two methods used in the study. The first method measured the color content of slides using a image processing program, while the second used a panel of human judges to rate the color content of each slide.

Despite the rapid strides in content-based image retrieval, a notable disparity persists between the visual features of images and the semantic features discerned by humans. Hence, image retrieval based on the association of semantic similarities recognized by humans with visual similarities is a difficult task for most image-retrieval systems. Our study endeavors to bridge this gap by refining image semantics, aligning them more closely with human perception. Deep learning techniques are used to semantically classify images and retrieve those that are semantically similar to personalized images. Moreover, we introduce a keyword-based image retrieval, enabling automatic labeling of images in mobile environments. The proposed approach can improve the performance of a mobile device with limited resources and bandwidth by performing retrieval based on the visual features and keywords of the image on the mobile device.

There is substantial evidence from earlier researches that older adults have difficult seeing under low illumination and at night, even in the absence of ocular diseases. During human aging, there is a rampant decrease in rod/cone-meditated adaptation which is caused by delayed rhodopsin regeneration and pigment depletion. This calls for a need to develop appropriate visual gadgets to effectively aid the aging generation. Our research culminates its approach from Pattanaik's model by making extensions to temporal visual filtering, thereby simulating a reduction of visual response which comes with age. Our filtering model paves way and lays a foundation for future research to develop a more effective adaptation model that may be further used in developing visual content adaptation aids and guidelines in MPEG 21 environment. We demonstrate our visual model using a High Dynamic Range image and the experiment results are in conversant with the psychophysical data from previous vision researches.
The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of different types of simultaneous presentation (i.e., reviewer information, textual and visual content, and similarity between textual-visual contents) on review usefulness and review enjoyment in online restaurant reviews (ORRs), as they are interrelated yet have rarely been examined together in previous research. By using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling and state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) methodologies, we found that review readability in textual content and salient objects in images in visual content have a significant impact on both review usefulness and review enjoyment. Moreover, similarity between textual-visual contents was found to be a major factor in determining review usefulness but not review enjoyment. As for reviewer information, reputation, expertise, and location of residence, these were found to be significantly related to review enjoyment. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on ORRs and provides valuable implications for general users and managers in the hospitality and tourism industries.

With the rapid increase of the number of multimedia contents, people consume a lot of multimedia contents through various distribution channels. Content-based image retrieval uses visual features that represent the contents of images. And users can retrieve or filter images based on the contents of the images using the features. But, the editing of the multimedia contents distorts the original visual features of the multimedia contents, thereby the performance of content-based image retrieval system could be lowered. In this paper, we describe the image editing effects that lower the performance of the retrieval system and propose algorithms that can remove the image editing effect and improve content-based image retrieval system.
