Purpose: To compare perceptions of nurse-led health care visits in child daycare centers and calculate determination coefficients (DC) reflecting the job values. Methods: This was a secondary analysis study that applied the evaluation report for visiting nursing services for child daycare centers, prepared by the Seoul Nurses Association in 2021. Totally, 86 visiting nurses, 1997 childcare teachers, and 1915 parents were included in the study. The job recognition questionnaire was used to identify the levels of readiness, importance, and difficulty of a visiting nurse's job. Results: The visiting nurses showed high levels of readiness and importance for most duties and tasks expected of them. Compared to the nurses, the parents determined a greater importance towards the jobs of visiting nurses. The visiting nurses and childcare teachers exhibited similar levels of importance for the job. The highest and lowest DC scores were obtained for 'child developmental evaluation and referral' and 'child education', respectively. Conclusion: The duties and tasks verified in this study can be evidence for the job description, and should be preferentially developed for enhancing the competency of visiting nurses. Considering the importance of nurse-led health care, this will warrant an expansion of services to other regions.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance using the OMAHA system. Methods: The subjects were 72 nurses who had worked in a visiting nursing care center in long-term care insurance. Data were collected from December 5, 2016 to January 31, 2017 using self-recorded questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: Four dimensions of the OMAHA system showed statistically significant differences between performance and requirements of visiting nursing care in long-term care insurance. The requirements of visiting nursing care were higher than was performance on all 40 items of the OMAHA system. The greatest difference was in environmental domain and then the psychosocial domain. Conclusion: Based on the results, we found that the environmental and psychosocial domains were the largest gap areas. Therefore, with the reality of elderly people living alone and the increase in elderly couples, active intervention connected with the community is needed in residential areas. Purpose: This study was designed to determine the effects of health coaching and mediating variables on quantitative aspect of health in low-income hypertensive people. Methods: The experimental group for the current study consisted of 21 clients who received health coaching services, and the control group consisted of 22 clients who received home-visiting nursing services. Two groups received health coaching or home-visiting nursing services once a week for 8 weeks. The evaluation variables were self-efficacy, nutrition management, health behaviors, self-rated health, and quality of life. Thus, the findings of the current study provide useful data for establishing measures for the health management of those afflicted with chronic disease, such as hypertension. Furthermore, health coaching may be developed into useful intervention strategies for dealing with chronic diseases and improving home-visiting nursing.

Purpose: This is a comparative study using secondary data from the Korean national long term care (LTC) insurance. Methods: Visiting nursing (VN) service users (n=666) and non-users (n=4,375) were extracted and compared in terms of medical expenditures, length of hospitalization, and annual number of ambulatory care visits to investigate effects of VN services in LTC. Results: Total health care expenditures were compared between the two groups and it was found that VN service users spent about $ 1700 than non-users for their medical costs between 2009 and 2011. The average length of in-hospital stay for VN service users was 19.4 days shorter than that of non-users. However, using VN services did not significantly influence the annual number of ambulatory care visits. Conclusion: The study has found that VN services are effective ways of providing community-based LTC services. We recommend LTC policy makers to further utilize VN services to deliver cost effective health care services.

Purpose: The study was aimed at qualitatively enhancing and promoting a home visiting nursing program established in Korea on July 1, 2008, as part of the Long-Term Care Insurance for the Elderly program. Methods: Structural, procedural and consequential aspects of home visiting nursing care wereclassified on the horizontal axis by applying the standard notions for the evaluation of medical care (Donabedian, 1998). At the same time, the home visiting nursing care service support system and the service provision system weredivided on the vertical axis with reference to the accreditation standards for home visiting nursing care organizations suggested by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO, 2008). The data were collected from June 4, 2008 to October 27, 2008, and were analyzed using SPSS ver. 15.0. Results: Twenty-two (proposed) standards, centered on the standard elements under the conceptual framework of the study, were developed, and comprised structural aspects (n=10), procedural aspects (n=6) and consequential aspects (n=6). Those criteria and indicators underwent two content validity surveys among groups of home visiting nursing care research and training experts. The research produced 22 proposed standards, 50 proposed criteria and 166 proposed indicators. Conclusion: The home visiting nursing care standards developed pursuant to the Long-Term Care Insurance for the Elderly Act and the applicability of these standards need to be verified by home visiting nurses. These proposed standards should prove useful in developing an assessment tool to encourage the qualitative enhancement of visiting nursing care in Korea.
